- As large-scale stellar surveys have become available over the past decade, the ability to detect and characterize substructures in the Galaxy has increased dramatically. These surveys have revealed the Triangulum-Andromeda (TriAnd) region to be rich with substructures in the distance range 20-30 kpc, and the relation of these features to each other, if any, remains unclear. An exploration using Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS) photometry reveals not only the faint sequence in M giants detected by Rocha-Pinto et al. (2004ApJ...615..732R) spanning the range 100{deg}<l<160{deg} and -50{deg}<b<-15{deg}, but, in addition, a second, brighter and more densely populated sequence. These sequences are likely associated with the distinct main sequences (MSs) discovered (and labeled TriAnd1 and TriAnd2) by Martin et al. (2007ApJ...668L.123M) in an optical survey in the direction of M31, where TriAnd2 is the optical counterpart of the fainter red giant branch (RGB)/asymptotic giant branch sequence of Rocha-Pinto et al. Here, the age, distance, and metallicity ranges for TriAnd1 and TriAnd2 are estimated by simultaneously fitting isochrones to the 2MASS RGB tracks and the optical MS/MS turn-off features. The two populations are clearly distinct in age and distance: the brighter sequence (TriAnd1) is younger (6-10 Gyr) and closer (distance of ~15-21 kpc), whereas the fainter sequence (TriAnd2) is older (10-12 Gyr) and at an estimated distance of ~24-32 kpc. A comparison with simulations demonstrates that the differences and similarities between TriAnd1 and TriAnd2 can simultaneously be explained if they represent debris originating from the disruption of the same dwarf galaxy, but torn off during two distinct pericentric passages.

- TRICERATOPS predictions for 384 TOIs

- We present TRICERATOPS, a new Bayesian tool that can be used to vet and validate TESS Objects of Interest (TOIs). We test the tool on 68 TOIs that have been previously confirmed as planets or rejected as astrophysical false positives. By looking in the false-positive probability (FPP)-nearby false-positive probability (NFPP) plane, we define criteria that TOIs must meet to be classified as validated planets (FPP<0.015 and NFPP<10^-3^), likely planets (FPP<0.5 and NFPP<10^-3^), and likely nearby false positives (NFPP>10^-1^). We apply this procedure on 384 unclassified TOIs and statistically validate 12, classify 125 as likely planets, and classify 52 as likely nearby false positives. Of the 12 statistically validated planets, 9 are newly validated. TRICERATOPS is currently the only TESS vetting and validation tool that models transits from nearby contaminant stars in addition to the target star. We therefore encourage use of this tool to prioritize follow-up observations that confirm bona fide planets and identify false positives originating from nearby stars.

- We have investigated the young stellar population in and around SFO 38, one of the massive globules located in the northern part of the Galactic HII region IC 1396, using the Spitzer IRAC and MIPS observations (3.6-24um), and followed up with ground-based optical photometric and spectroscopic observations. Based on the IRAC and MIPS colors and H{alpha} emission, we identify ~45 young stellar objects (Classes 0/I/II) and 13 probable pre-main-sequence candidates. We derive the spectral types (mostly K- and M-type stars), effective temperatures, and individual extinction of the relatively bright and optically visible Class II objects. Using the width of the H{alpha} emission line measured at 10% peak intensity, we derive the mass accretion rates of individual objects to be between 10^-10^ and 10^-8^M_{sun}_/yr.

- We report trigonometric parallaxes for 134 low-mass stars and brown dwarfs, of which 38 have no previously published measurement and 79 more have improved uncertainties. Our survey focused on nearby targets, so 119 are closer than 30pc. Of the 38 stars with new parallaxes, 14 are within 20pc and seven are likely brown dwarfs (spectral types later than L0). These parallaxes are useful for studies of kinematics, multiplicity, and spectrophotometric calibration. Two objects with new parallaxes are confirmed as young stars with membership in nearby young moving groups: LP 870-65 in AB Doradus and G161-71 in Argus. We also report the first parallax for the planet-hosting star GJ3470; this allows us to refine the density of its Neptune-mass planet. T-dwarf 2MASSJ12590470-4336243, previously thought to lie within 4pc, is found to be at 7.8pc, and the M-type star 2MASSJ01392170-3936088 joins the ranks of nearby stars as it is found to be within 10pc. Five stars that are overluminous and/or too red for their spectral types are identified and deserve further study as possible young stars.

- In the course of comparing parameters of evolved cool star plus hot main-sequence star binaries with theoretical isochrones, some discrepancies are found between implied stellar masses and the spectroscopic binary mass function or the measured angular separation. These are naturally explained if there is a third star in the system. Multiplicity is also required to explain some comparisons of "cool plus hot binary" IUE and optical spectral energy distribution analysis with measured flux ratios, especially Tycho's two-color photometry of separate components. Out of a sample of 136 cool-plus-hot binary star systems under study, measurements are now indicating several systems considered double (HD 5373, 23089, 26673, 29094, 49126, 71129, 149379, 179002, 187299), and probably a few others (including HD 136415), to have at least three stellar components. Several other cases of suspected triple systems are confirmed. For comparison, there are eight known triples included in the project. In all, about 25% of the systems contain three or more components within a few arcseconds. Estimated separations are provided, which may be of use when not known from interferometry. In general, the triple systems have one post-main-sequence component and two upper main-sequence components, usually revolving around each other. One new triple system, HD 149379, has as its middle component an F giant in the brief first crossing of the Hertzsprung gap.

- We present a new catalogue of galaxy triplets derived from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release 7. The identification of systems was performed considering galaxies brighter than M_r_=-20.5 and imposing constraints over the projected distances, radial velocity differences of neighbouring galaxies and isolation. To improve the identification of triplets, we employed a data pixelization scheme, which allows us to handle large amounts of data as in the SDSS photometric survey. Using spectroscopic and photometric data in the redshift range 0.01<=z<=0.40, we obtain 5901 triplet candidates. We have used a mock catalogue to analyse the completeness and contamination of our methods.

- As part of our ongoing program of predictions and observations of stellar occultations by solar system bodies, we have completed a search for candidates for occultations by Triton over the decade 2000 to 2009. Star positions near Triton's projected orbit as determined by the DE405 ephemeris and NEP016 orbit model were measured on (unfiltered) CCD strip scans recorded with the 0.6 m telescope at the George R. Wallace Astrophysical Observatory to a depth of 16th to 18th magnitude, depending on the quality of individual strip scans. Within 1.0" of the predicted orbit of Triton during this period, 128 stars were found, including 12 stars brighter than 14th magnitude. Only appulses with geocentric minimum separations of less than about 0.37" will result in an occultation visible from Earth, but potential errors in the ephemeris and in the positions of our candidates preclude accurate prediction of actual occultation events without further astrometry.

- We have completed a search for candidates for stellar occultations by Triton over the years 1995-1999 CCD strip scan images provided star positions in the relevant sky area to a depth of about 17.5Rmag. Over this time period, we find that Triton passes within 1.0arcsec of 75 stars. Appulses with geocentric minimum separations of less than 0.35arcsec will result in stellar occultations, but further astrometry and photometry is necessary to refine individual predictions for identification of actual occultations. Finder charts are included to aid in further studies and prediction refinement. The two most promising potential occultations, Tr176 and Tr180, occur in 1997.

- A search for Triton stellar occultation candidates for the period 1992-1994 has been completed with CCD strip-scanning observations. The search reached an R magnitude of about 17.4 and found 129 candidates within 1.5arcsec of Triton's ephemeris during this period. Of these events, we expect around 30 occultations to be visible from the Earth, indicating that a number of Triton occultation events should be visible from major observatories. Even the faintest of our candidate events could produce useful occultation data if observed with a large enough telescope. Our astrometric accuracy is inadequate to identify which of these appulse events will produce occultations on the Earth; further astrometry is needed to refine the predictions for positive occultation identification. To aid in selecting candidates for additional astrometric and photometric studies, we include finder charts and Earth-based visibility charts for each event.
