- Extremely metal-poor (EMP) stars are old objects formed in the first Gyr of the Universe. They are rare and, to select them the most successful strategy has been to build on large and low-resolution spectroscopic surveys. The combination of narrow- and broad-band photometry provides a powerful and cheaper alternative to select metal-poor stars. The ongoing Pristine Survey is adopting this strategy, conducting photometry with the Canada France Hawaii Telescope MegaCam wide-field imager and a narrow-band filter centered at 395.2nm on the Ca II-H and -K lines. In this paper, we present the results of the spectroscopic follow-up conducted on a sample of 26 stars at the bright end of the magnitude range of the Survey (g<=15), using FEROS at the MPG/ESO 2.2-m telescope (manufactured by Zeiss, Oberkochen, Germany). From our chemical investigation on the sample, we conclude that this magnitude range is too bright to use the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) gri bands, which are typically saturated. Instead, the Pristine photometry can be usefully combined with the AAVSO Photometric All Sky Survey (APASS) gri photometry to provide reliable metallicity estimates. Data from FEROS.

- A sample of 46 nearby clusters observed with Chandra is analyzed to produce radial density, temperature, entropy, and metallicity profiles, as well as other morphological measurements. The entropy profiles are computed to larger radii than in previous Chandra cluster sample analyses. We find that the iron mass fraction measured in the inner 0.15R_500_ shows a larger dispersion across the sample of low-mass clusters than it does for the sample of high-mass clusters. We interpret this finding as the result of the mixing of more halos in large clusters than in small clusters, leading to an averaging of the metallicity in the large clusters, and thus less dispersion of metallicity. This interpretation lends support to the idea that the low-entropy, metal-rich gas of merging halos reaches the clusters' centers, which explains observations of core-collapse supernova product metallicity peaks, and which is seen in hydrodynamical simulations. The gas in these merging halos would have to reach cluster centers without mixing in the outer regions. On the other hand, the metallicity dispersion does not change with mass in the outer regions of the clusters, suggesting that most of the outer metals originate from a source with a more uniform metallicity level, such as during pre-enrichment. We also measure a correlation between the metal content in low-mass clusters and the morphological disturbance of their intracluster medium, as measured by centroid shift. This suggests an alternative interpretation, whereby transitional metallicity boosts in the center of low-mass clusters account for the larger dispersion of their metallicities.

- We present a revised catalog of 2106 Galactic stars, selected without kinematic bias and with available radial velocities, distance estimates, and metal abundances in the range -4.0<=[Fe/H]<=0.0. This update of the 1995 Beers & Sommer-Larsen catalog (Cat. <J/ApJS/96/175>) includes newly derived homogeneous photometric distance estimates, revised radial velocities for a number of stars with recently obtained high-resolution spectra, and refined metallicities for stars originally identified in the HK objective-prism survey (which account for nearly half of the catalog) based on a recent recalibration. A subset of 1258 stars in this catalog have available proper motions based on measurements obtained with the Hipparcos astrometry satellite or taken from the updated Astrographic Catalogue (second epoch positions from either the Hubble Space Telescope Guide Star Catalog or the Tycho Catalogue), the Yale/San Juan Southern Proper Motion Catalog 2.0, and the Lick Northern Proper Motion Catalog. Our present catalog includes 388 RR Lyrae variables (182 of which are newly added), 38 variables of other types, and 1680 nonvariables, with distances in the range 0.1 to 40kpc.

- We have assembled a sample of 115 galaxy clusters at 0.1<z<1.3 with archived Chandra ACIS-I observations. We present X-ray images of the clusters and make available region files containing contours of the smoothed X-ray emission. The structural properties of the clusters were investigated, and we found a significant absence of relaxed clusters (as determined by centroid shift measurements) at z>0.5. The slope of the surface brightness profiles at large radii were steeper on average by 15% than the slope obtained by fitting a simple {beta}-model to the emission. This slope was also found to be correlated with cluster temperature, with some indication that the correlation is weaker for the clusters at z>0.5. We measured the mean metal abundance of the cluster gas as a function of redshift and found significant evolution, with the abundances dropping by 50% between z=0.1 and z~1. This evolution was still present (although less significant) when the cluster cores were excluded from the abundance measurements, indicating that the evolution is not solely due to the disappearance of relaxed, cool core clusters (which are known to have enhanced core metal abundances) from the population at z>~0.5.

- We have estimated fundamental parameters for a sample of co-moving stars observed by Gaia and identified by Oh et al (2017, J/AJ/153/257). We matched the Gaia observations to the 2MASS and Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer catalogs and fit MIST isochrones to the data, deriving estimates of the mass, radius, [Fe/H], age, distance, and extinction to 9754 stars in the original sample of 10606 stars. We verify these estimates by comparing our new results to previous analyses of nearby stars, examining fiducial cluster properties, and estimating the power-law slope of the local present-day mass function. A comparison to previous studies suggests that our mass estimates are robust, while metallicity and age estimates are increasingly uncertain. We use our calculated masses to examine the properties of binaries in the sample and show that separation of the pairs dominates the observed binding energies and expected lifetimes.

- Positional, structural, and dynamical parameters for all dwarf galaxies in and around the Local Group are presented, and various aspects of our observational understanding of this volume-limited sample are discussed. Over 100 nearby galaxies that have distance estimates reliably placing them within 3Mpc of the Sun are identified. This distance threshold samples dwarfs in a large range of environments, from the satellite systems of the MW and M31, to the quasi-isolated dwarfs in the outer regions of the Local Group, to the numerous isolated galaxies that are found in its surroundings. It extends to, but does not include, the galaxies associated with the next nearest groups, such as Maffei, Sculptor, and IC 342. Our basic knowledge of this important galactic subset and their resolved stellar populations will continue to improve dramatically over the coming years with existing and future observational capabilities, and they will continue to provide the most detailed information available on numerous aspects of dwarf galaxy formation and evolution. Basic observational parameters, such as distances, velocities, magnitudes, mean metallicities, as well as structural and dynamical characteristics, are collated, homogenized (as far as possible), and presented in tables that will be continually updated to provide a convenient and current online resource. As well as discussing the provenance of the tabulated values and possible uncertainties affecting their usage, the membership and spatial extent of the MW sub-group, M31 sub-group, and the Local Group are explored. The morphological diversity of the entire sample and notable sub-groups is discussed, and timescales are derived for the Local Group members in the context of their orbital/interaction histories. The scaling relations and mean stellar metallicity trends defined by the dwarfs are presented, and the origin of a possible "floor" in central surface brightness (and, more speculatively, stellar mean metallicity) at faint magnitudes is considered.

- The properties of 160 F, G, and K disk dwarfs/subgiants (including 27 planet-host stars) mostly within -0.6<~[Fe/H]<~+0.4, the Okayama Astrophysical Observatory spectrum collection of which had been made open to the public recently, were extensively investigated with particular attention to determining (1) the mass and the age with the help of theoretical stellar evolution calculations, (2) the kinematic parameters of orbital motions in the Galaxy, and (3) the abundances of 15 elements (Na, Mg, Al, Si, S, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn) by analyzing the spectra in this database. The resulting characteristics are discussed in terms of several relevant topics of interest, such as a validity check for assuming LTE, the [X/Fe] vs. [Fe/H] diagram containing information on the chemical evolution of the Galactic disk, the age-metallicity-kinematics relation, and the difference/similarity between stars with and without planets.

- We have assembled 560 recent measurements from the literature of distances of Galactic globular clusters and found revised distance estimates for 154 of the 157 clusters in the McMaster catalogue [Harris, 2010 edition, Cat. VII/202]. We find a trough in the X-distribution at the Galactic centre, and symmetries corresponding to the structure of the bar. These features indicate a distance, R_0_=7.4+/-0.2(stat)+/-0.2(sys)kpc, only a little higher than Bica et al.'s (2006, Cat. J/A+A/450/105) estimate.

- Updated data of the 153 Galactic globular clusters are used to readdress fundamental parameters of the Milky Way, such as the distance of the Sun to the Galactic centre, the bulge and halo structural parameters, and cluster destruction rates. We build a reduced sample that has been decontaminated of all the clusters younger than 10Gyrs and of those with retrograde orbits and/or evidence of relation to dwarf galaxies. The reduced sample contains 116 globular clusters that are tested for whether they were formed in the primordial collapse.
