- Description:
- We study the dynamical status of the poor, low X-ray luminous galaxy clusters Abell 610, Abell 725, and Abell 796 (at z=0.1, 0.09, and 0.16, respectively), containing diffuse radio sources (relic, relic, and possible halo, respectively). Our analysis is based on new spectroscopic data obtained at the William Herschel Telescope for 158 galaxies, new photometry obtained at the Isaac Newton Telescope with the addition of data recovered from the Data Release 5 of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We use statistical tools to select 57, 36, and 26 cluster members and to analyze the kinematics of cluster galaxies, as well as to study the 2D cluster structure.

- Velocities of A2294 galaxies

- Description:
- The mechanisms giving rise to diffuse radio emission in galaxy clusters, and in particular their connection with cluster mergers, are still debated. We seek to explore the internal dynamics of the cluster Abell 2294, which has been shown to host a radio halo. Our analysis is mainly based on redshift data for 88 galaxies acquired at the Telescopio Nazionale Galileo. We combine galaxy velocities and positions to select 78 cluster galaxies and analyze its internal dynamics. We also use both photometric data acquired at the Isaac Newton Telescope and X-ray data from the Chandra archive.

- Velocities of 12 Fornax elliptical galaxies
- Short Name:
- J/A+AS/133/325
- Date:
- 21 Oct 2021
- Publisher:
- CDS
- Description:
- We present extended stellar kinematics for a sample of elliptical galaxies in the Fornax cluster. Out of the 13 galaxies presented here, five (FCC 119, FCC 136, NGC 1373, NGC 1428, FCC 335) have no previously published kinematical data. Major-axis velocity dispersion profiles (VDPs) and rotation curves (RCs) are given for 12 of the galaxies. A major feature of this data is the spatial extension: for 8 galaxies the data extends beyond 1R_e_, and for 5 it extends beyond 2R_e_. Compared to the previously available data, this corresponds to an increase in spatial coverage by a factor from 1 to 5. The present sample represents 86% of the ellipticals in Fornax brighter than B_T_=15mag.

- Velocities of galaxies in A773

- Description:
- To conduct an intensive study of the rich, X-ray luminous galaxy cluster Abell 773 at z=0.22 containing a diffuse radio halo to determine its dynamical status. Our analysis is based on new spectroscopic data obtained at the TNG telescope for 107 galaxies, 37 spectra recovered from the CFHT archive and new photometric data obtained at the Isaac Newton Telescope. We use statistical tools to select 100 cluster members (out to ~1.8h^-1^_70_ from the cluster centre), to analyse the kinematics of cluster galaxies and to determine the cluster structure. Our analysis is also performed by using X-ray data stored in the Chandra archive.

- Velocities of galaxies in Abell 520
- Short Name:
- J/A+A/491/379
- Date:
- 21 Oct 2021
- Publisher:
- CDS
- Description:
- The connection of cluster mergers with the presence of extended, diffuse radio sources in galaxy clusters is still debated. An interesting case is the rich, merging cluster Abell 520, containing a radio halo. A recent gravitational analysis has shown in this cluster the presence of a massive dark core suggested to be a possible problem for the current cold dark matter paradigm. We aim to obtain new insights into the internal dynamics of Abell 520 analyzing velocities and positions of member galaxies. Our analysis is based on redshift data for 293 galaxies in the cluster field obtained combining new redshift data for 8 galaxies acquired at the TNG with data obtained by CNOC team and other few data from the literature. We also use new photometric data obtained at the INT telescope. We combine galaxy velocities and positions to select 167 cluster members around z~0.201. We analyze the cluster structure using the weighted gap analysis, the KMM method, the Dressler-Shectman statistics and the analysis of the velocity dispersion profiles. We compare our results with those from X-ray, radio and gravitational lensing analyses.

- Velocities of spiral galaxies in distant clusters
- Short Name:
- J/A+A/422/907
- Date:

- Publisher:
- CDS
- Description:
- We have conducted an observing campaign with the FORS instruments at the ESO-Very Large Telescope to explore the kinematical properties of spiral galaxies in distant galaxy clusters. Our main goal is to analyse transformation - and interaction processes of disk galaxies within the special environment of clusters as compared to the hierarchical evolution of galaxies in the field. Spatially resolved multi object spectra have been obtained for seven galaxy clusters at 0.3<z<0.6 to measure rotation velocities of cluster members. For three of the clusters, Cl 0303+17, Cl 0413-65, and MS 1008-12, for which we presented results including a Tully-Fisher-diagram in Ziegler et al. (2003ApJ...598L..87Z), we describe here in detail the sample selection, observations, data reduction, and data analysis. Each of them was observed with two setups of the standard MOS-unit of FORS.

- Velocity catalog of A545 galaxies

- Description:
- The mechanisms giving rise to diffuse radio emission in galaxy clusters, and in particular their connection with cluster mergers, are still debated. We seek to explore the internal dynamics of the cluster Abell 545, which has been shown to host a radio halo. Abell 545 is also peculiar for hosting in its center a very bright, red, diffuse intracluster light due to an old, presumably metal-rich stellar population, so bright to be named as "star pile". Our analysis is mainly based on redshift data for 110 galaxies acquired at the Telescopio Nazionale Galileo. We identify 95 cluster members and analyze the cluster internal dynamics by combining galaxy velocities and positions. We also use both multiband photometric data acquired at the Isaac Newton Telescope and X-ray data from the XMM-Newton Science Archive.

- Velocity data of rich clusters
- Short Name:
- J/MNRAS/224/453
- Date:

- Publisher:
- CDS
- Description:
- We present redshifts and stellar velocity dispersions for about 40 galaxies in each of 14 rich clusters from the southern cluster survey of Abell & Corwin (1983, Early Evolution of the Universe and Its Present Structure, p.179, Eds. Abell & Chincarini, Reidel, Dordrecht, Holland). The clusters cover a wide range of richnesses and Abell and Bautz-Morgan types, our aim being to compile a large, homogeneous database for examining and comparing dynamical phenomena and morphological properties. Further papers will present photometry for the clusters and an analysis of the database.

- Velocity dispersions of MS1054-03 & Coma galaxies
- Short Name:
- J/ApJ/724/714
- Date:

- Publisher:
- CDS
- Description:
- We have measured velocity dispersions ({sigma}) for a sample of 36 galaxies with J<21.2 or M_r_<-20.6mag in MS 1054-03, a massive cluster of galaxies at z=0.83. Our data are of uniformly high quality down to our selection limit, our 16h exposures typically yielding errors of only {delta}({sigma})~10% for L* and fainter galaxies. By combining our measurements with data from the literature, we have 53 cluster galaxies with measured dispersions, and HST/ACS-derived sizes, colors and surface brightness. This sample is complete for the typical L^*^ galaxy at z~1, unlike most previous z~1 cluster samples which are complete only for the massive cluster members (>10^11^M_{sun}_). We find no evidence for a change in the tilt of the fundamental plane (FP).
