- We present a multi-epoch, accurate UBVRcIc photometric catalog of 83 symbiotic stars and related objects, measured while calibrating the Henden and Munari (2000, Cat. <J/A+AS/143/343>, 2001, Cat. <J/A+A/372/145>, 2006, Cat. <J/A+A/458/339>) photometric sequences around them. The vast majority of the observations where collected in the time interval between October 19, 1998 to April 21, 2002 with the 1.0-m Ritchey-Chretien telescope of the U.S. Naval Observatory, Flagstaff Station (Arizona). On average, UBVRcIc data are given on 3.6 epochs for each program star. The overall budget error of the data is usually better than 0.01mag.

- The Asiago photographic archive has been searched for plates containing the symbiotic stars AS 210, AS 327, AX Per, BF Cyg, CI Cyg, DT Ser, EG And, GH Gem, Hen 2-442, Hen 3-1591, HM Sge, MaC 1-17, NSV 11776, Pe 2-16, Pt 1, PU Vul, RS Oph, T CrB, UV Aur, V1016 Cyg, V1329 Cyg, V352 Aql, V4018 Sgr, Wray 15-1470, and Z And. A total of 1617 good-quality plates imaging the program stars have been found and their brightness has been estimated using the Henden & Munari (2000, Cat. <J/A+AS/143/343>, 2001, Cat. <J/A+A/372/145>, 2006, Cat. <J/A+A/458/339>, 2008, Cat. <J/BaltA/17/293>) UBVRcIc local photometric sequences. The results for the objects with most abundant measurements are discussed.

- Using Hyades photometry published by Mendoza (1967BOTT....4..149M) and other authors, Pinsonneault et al. (2004ApJ...600..946P) have recently concluded that Cousins V-I photometry published by Taylor & Joner (1985AJ.....90..479T, 1988AJ.....96..211T, 1996AJ....111.1338T) is not on the Cousins system. Extensive tests of the Taylor-Joner photometry and other pertinent results are therefore performed in this paper. It is found that in part, the Pinsonneault et al. conclusion rests on (1) a systematic error in Mendoza's (R-I)J photometry and (2) a small error in an approximate Johnson-to-Cousins transformation published by Bessell. For the Taylor-Joner values of (V-R)C, it is found that there are possible (though not definite) differences of several mmag with other results. However, the Taylor-Joner values of (R-I)C data are supported at the 1mmag level. Using the (R-I)C data and other published results, an (R-I)C catalog is assembled for 146 Hyades stars with spectral types earlier than about K5. For single stars with multiple contributing data, the rms errors of the catalog entries are less than 4.4 mmag. Temperatures on the Di Benedetto angular-diameter scale are also given in the catalog and are used to help update published analyses of high-dispersion values of [Fe/H] for the Hyades. The best current mean Hyades value of [Fe/H] is found to be +0.103+/-0.008dex and is essentially unchanged from its previous value. In addition to these numerical results, recommendations are made about improving attitudes and practices that are pertinent to issues like those raised by Pinsonneault et al.

- We present wide-field deep UBVIc photometry for the previously unstudied open cluster NGC 4852 down to a limiting magnitude Ic~24, obtained from observations taken with the Wide Field Imager camera on-board the MPG/ESO 2.2m telescope at La Silla (ESO, Chile), in the photometric night of July 7, 2002. These data are used to obtain the first estimate of the cluster basic parameters, to study the cluster spatial extension by means of star counts, and to derive the Luminosity (LF) and Mass Functions (MF). The cluster radius turns out to be 5.0+/-1.0arcmin. The cluster emerges clearly from the field down to V=20mag. At fainter magnitudes, it is completely confused with the general Galactic disk field. The stars inside this region define a young open cluster (200 million years old) 1.1kpc far from the Sun (m-M=11.60, E(B-V)=0.45). The Present Day Mass Functions (PDMF) from the V photometry is one of the most extended in mass obtained to date, and can be represented as a power-law with a slope alpha=2.3+/-0.3 and (the Salpeter MF in this notation has a slope alpha=2.35), in the mass range 3.2<=m/m_{sun}_<=0.6. Below this mass, the MF cannot be considered as representative of the cluster MF, as the cluster merges with the field and therefore the MF is the result of the combined effect of strong irregularities in the stellar background and interaction of the cluster with the dense Galactic field. The cluster total mass at the limiting magnitude results to be 2570+/-210M_{sun}_.

- We present UBVIc photometry of starlike objects in the central region of NGC 3077. The colour-colour and colour-magnitude diagrams of the objects are discussed. Many of the objects under consideration, starlike from the ground, are probably dense young star clusters (super star clusters, SSC). Ages spreading over ~4 to ~150Myr are estimated for most of these objects. Sakai and Madore (2001ApJ...555..280S) found enhanced star formation ~30-125Myr ago also in the halo of this galaxy; thus, high star forming activity has occurred within the entire galaxy (centre and halo) since ~130..150Myr. Having ended in the outer regions about 30Myr ago, it is going on near the centre with full vigour.

- As a part of an extensive program focused on the global properties and evolution of active stars, high-precision UBV(RI)_c_ and UBV photometry of 31 selected stars is presented. The UBV(RI)_c_ observations were collected at the European Southern Observatory over the 31 December 1992-18 January 1993 and the 20 November-3 December 1993 intervals. Additional UBV photometry obtained by the ``Phoenix" and by the Catania Astrophysical Observatory Automatic Photoelectric Telescopes from 1990 to 1993 is also presented for some of the program stars. Significant evolution of the light curves, period variations and evidence for long-term variability of the global degree of spottedness are found. Some spectral classifications are revised and the inferred photometric parallaxes are compared, whenever possible, with the values measured by the Hipparcos satellite (Cat. <I/239>). These observations are finalized to the construction of an extended photometric database, which can give important clues on topics such as the stability of spotted areas, differential rotation, solar-like cycles and the correlation between inhomogeneities at different atmospheric levels.

- The three open clusters Be 15, Be 80 and NGC 2192 have been observed using CCD UBV(RI)C photometry at the San Pedro Martir Observatory, Mexico within the framework of our open-cluster survey. The fundamental parameters of interstellar reddening, distance and age have been derived, and also the metallicity for NGC 2192 (solar metallicity has been assumed for the other two).
