- We present an 86GHz SiO (v=1, J=2->1) maser search towards late-type stars located within |b|<0.5{deg} and 20{deg}<l<50{deg}. This search is an extension at longer longitudes of the work by Messineo et al. (2002, Cat. J/A+A/393/115). We selected 135 stars from the MSX catalog using color and flux criteria and detected 92 (86 new detections). The detection rate is 68%, the same as in our previous study. The last few decades have seen the publication of several catalogues of point sources detected in infrared surveys (MSX, 2MASS, DENIS, ISOGAL, WISE, GLIMPSE, AKARI, and MIPSGAL). We searched each catalogue for data on the 444 targets of our earlier survey and for the 135 in the survey reported here. We confirm that, as anticipated, most of our targets have colors typical of oxygen-rich AGB stars. Only one target star may have left the AGB already. Ten stars have colors typical of carbon-rich stars, meaning a contamination of our sample with carbon stars of <=1.7%.

- To construct a catalogue of oxygen-rich (M) asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars in the halo, complementing the catalogues of carbon-rich (C) stars, previous lists of Miras and SRa semi-regulars located in the northern hemisphere are merged and cleaned of various defects. After putting aside known C stars, characteristics such as colours and periods indicate that most of the remaining objects are M stars. Distances are obtained through the period-luminosity relation. By considering their position in the sky, stars lying at |Z|>5kpc are confirmed to be in majority in the Sgr tidal arms. The M stars are more numerous than C ones. Our distance scale is supported by two cool variables located in the Pal 4 globular cluster. Along the Sgr arms, there is reasonable agreement on distances of our objects with recent RR Lyrae distances. A few stars may be as distant as 150kpc, with possibly four at the trailing arm apocentre, and two in the A16 sub-structure, angularly close to two C stars. Ninety radial velocities are collected from Gaia and other sources. A catalogue with 417 M pulsating AGB stars is provided. This catalogue contains about 260 stars in the halo with |Z|>5kpc. Their Ks magnitudes range from 8 up to 13. For comparison, the catalogue also provides about 150 stars in the disc having 5<Ks<8.

- Observations are presented of the strength of the H-{alpha} absorption line in the spectra of approximately 600 northern F, G and K stars of differing luminosities and chemical compositions. Most of the stars in this catalogue were previously observed by Griffin and Redman (1960MNRAS.120..287G), Deeming (1960MNRAS.121...52D), and Griffin (1961MNRAS.122..181G). Data given in this catalog include HD number, MK spectral classification, high velocity, (B-V) color index, magnesium b ratio, sodium D line ratio and H-{alpha} ratio.

- Young nearby stars are good candidates in the search for planets with both radial velocity (RV) and direct imaging techniques. This, in turn, allows for the computation of the giant planet occurrence rates at all separations. The RV search around young stars is a challenge as they are generally faster rotators than older stars of similar spectral types and they exhibit signatures of magnetic activity (spots) or pulsation in their RV time series. Specific analyses are necessary to characterize, and possibly correct for, this activity. Our aim is to search for planets around young nearby stars and to estimate the giant planet (GP) occurrence rates for periods up to 1000 days. We used the HARPS spectrograph on the 3.6m telescope at La Silla Observatory to observe 89 A-M young (<600Myr) stars. We used our SAFIR (Spectroscopic data via Analysis of the Fourier Interspectrum Radial velocities) software to compute the RV and other spectroscopic observables. Then, we computed the companion occurrence rates on this sample. We confirm the binary nature of HD 177171, HD 181321 and HD 186704. We report the detection of a close low mass stellar companion for HIP 36985. No planetary companion was detected. We obtain upper limits on the GP (<13M_Jup_) and BD ({in}[13;80]M_Jup_) occurrence rates based on 83 young stars for periods less than 1000 days, which are set, 2_-2_^+3^ and 1_-1_^+3^%.

- Low-mass stars are currently the most promising targets for detecting and characterizing habitable planets in the solar neighborhood. However, the ultraviolet (UV) radiation emitted by such stars can erode and modify planetary atmospheres over time, drastically affecting their habitability. Thus, knowledge of the UV evolution of low-mass stars is critical for interpreting the evolutionary history of any orbiting planets. Shkolnik & Barman (2014, J/AJ/148/64) used photometry from the Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) to show how UV emission evolves for early-type M stars (>0.35 M_{sun}_). In this paper, we extend their work to include both a larger sample of low-mass stars with known ages as well as M stars with lower masses. We find clear evidence that mid- and late-type M stars (0.08-0.35 M_{sun}_) do not follow the same UV evolutionary trend as early-Ms. Lower-mass M stars retain high levels of UV activity up to field ages, with only a factor of 4 decrease on average in GALEX NUV and FUV flux density between young (<50 Myr) and old (~5 Gyr) stars, compared to a factor of 11 and 31 for early-Ms in NUV and FUV, respectively. We also find that the FUV/NUV flux density ratio, which can affect the photochemistry of important planetary biosignatures, is mass- and age-dependent for early-Ms, but remains relatively constant for the mid- and late-type Ms in our sample.

- We studied a sample of high proper motion, old and metal-rich dwarf stars, selected from the NLTT catalogue. The low pericentric distances and eccentric orbits of these solar neighbourhood stars indicate that they might have originated in the inner parts of the Galaxy. Chemical tagging can probe the formation history of stellar populations. To identify the origin of a sample of 71 very metal-rich dwarf stars, we derive the abundances of the neutron-capture elements Y, Ba, La, and Eu. The abundances of Y, La, Ba, and Eu vs. Fe, O, and Mg as reference elements, as well as their kinematics, suggest that our sample of old metal-rich dwarf stars is clearly distinct from the thin disk. They could be old inner thin-disk stars, as suggested previously, or bulge stars. In either cases they would have migrated from the inner parts of the Galaxy to the solar neighbourhood.

- We present 48 Herschel/PACS spectra of evolved stars in the wavelength range of 67-72um. This wavelength range covers the 69mu band of crystalline olivine (Mg_2-2x_Fe_(2x)_SiO_4_). The width and wavelength position of this band are sensitive to the temperature and composition of the crystalline olivine. Our sample covers a wide range of objects: from high mass-loss rate AGB stars (OH/IR stars, dM/dt>=10^-5^M_{sun}_/yr), through post-AGB stars with and without circumbinary disks, to planetary nebulae and even a few massive evolved stars. The goal of this study is to exploit the spectral properties of the 69um band to determine the composition and temperature of the crystalline olivine. Since the objects cover a range of evolutionary phases, we study the physical and chemical properties in this range of physical environments. We fit the 69um band and use its width and position to probe the composition and temperature of the crystalline olivine. For 27 sources in the sample, we detected the 69um band of crystalline olivine (Mg_2-2x_Fe_(2x)_SiO_4_). The 69um band shows that all the sources produce pure forsterite grains containing no iron in their lattice structure. The temperature of the crystalline olivine as indicated by the 69um band, shows that on average the temperature of the crystalline olivine is highest in the group of OH/IR stars and the post-AGB stars with confirmed Keplerian disks. The temperature is lower for the other post-AGB stars and lowest for the planetary nebulae. A couple of the detected 69um bands are broader than those of pure magnesium-rich crystalline olivine, which we show can be due to a temperature gradient in the circumstellar environment of these stars. The disk sources in our sample with crystalline olivine are very diverse. They show either no 69um band, a moderately strong band, or a very strong band, together with a temperature for the crystalline olivine in their disk that is either very warm (~600K), moderately warm (~200K), or cold (~120K), respectively.

- Towards constructing a system of high-dispersion spectroscopic standard stars with well-established abundances, so that adequate reference stars of similar properties may be found for precise differential abundance studies of any near-solar type stars, we have collected high-resolution (R~70000) echelle spectra for 160 F-K dwarfs and subgiants of the solar neighborhood in three wavelength regions (5000-6200{AA}, 5800-7000{AA}, and 7600-8800{AA}) at Okayama Astrophysical Observatory. This spectra database is open to the public.
