- We present a list of 1679 blue stars located in a region of the Southern sky between the Magellanic Clouds. Equatorial coordinates and photographic V and B-V are given for stars brighter than V=18.5. The instrumental magnitudes obtained from UKST IIIa-J and IIIa-F plates are calibrated with nearly 200 stars with CCD B and V observations. The list can be used for follow-ip identification, spatial distribution and other studies of young OB stars belonging to the Magellanic Clouds.

- We present the Johnson-Cousins B,V and I time series data obtained for 162 variable stars (135 RR Lyrae, 4 candidate Anomalous Cepheids, 11 Classical Cepheids, 11 eclipsing binaries and 1 delta Scuti star) in two 13x13 square arcmin areas close to the bar of the Large Magellanic Cloud. The photometric observations presented in this paper were carried out at the 1.54m Danish telescope located in La Silla, Chile, on the nights 4-7 January 1999, UT, and 23-24 January 2001, UT, respectively. In the paper we give coordinates, finding charts, periods, epochs, amplitudes, and mean quantities (intensity- and magnitude-averaged luminosities) of the variables with full coverage of the light variations, along with a discussion of the pulsation properties of the RR Lyrae stars in the sample.

- We present a catalogue with coordinates and photometric data of 2446 Be star candidates in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), based on a search of the OGLE II data base. The I-band light curves of these stars show outbursts in 24% of the sample (Type-1 stars), high and low states in 10%, periodic variations in 6% (Type-3 stars), and stochastic variations in 60% of the cases. We report on the result of the statistical study of light curves of Type-1 and Type-3 stars in the LMC, and the comparison with the previously reported results of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) sample.

- We present the Catalog of Cepheids from the LMC. The Catalog contains 1333 objects detected in the 4.5 square degree area of central parts of the LMC. About 3.4*10^5^ BVI measurements of these stars were collected during the OGLE-II microlensing survey. The Catalog data include period, BVI photometry, astrometry, and R_21_, phi_21_ parameters of the Fourier decomposition of I-band light curve. The vast majority of objects from the Catalog are the classical Cepheids pulsating in the fundamental or first overtone mode. The remaining objects include Population II Cepheids and red giants with pulsation-like light curves. Tests of completeness performed in overlapping parts of adjacent fields indicate that completeness of the Catalog is very high: >96%. Statistics and distributions of basic parameters of Cepheids are also presented. Finally, we show the light curves of three eclipsing systems containing Cepheid detected among objects of the Catalog. The sample includes objects brighter than I~20mag with periods ranging from about 0.3 to 250 days. The average completeness of the catalog is about 80%. Statistics of the entire sample and well detached systems, suitable for distance determination, are also presented.

- We present results on the age and metallicity estimates of the astonishingly unstudied Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) cluster (ESO 51-SC09), from CCD BVI photometry obtained at the ESO NTT with the EMMI attached. ESO 51-SC09 turns out to be a relatively small cluster (FWHM=10+/-1pc) located ~4{deg} northward from the galaxy center. We report for the first time a mean cluster age of 7.0+/-1.3Gyr and a mean cluster metallicity of [Fe/H]=-1.00+/-0.15 dex, concluding that ESO 51-SC09 belongs to the group of the oldest SMC clusters. We found that the cluster is projected onto an older (age~10-13Gyr) and more metal-poor ([Fe/H]=-1.3+/-0.2 dex) dominant field stellar population, so that the cluster could have reached its current location because of its orbital motion.

- Homogeneous B, V photometry is presented for 19324 stars in and around 5 Magellanic Cloud globular clusters: NGC 1466, NGC 1841, NGC 2210, NGC 2257, and Reticulum. The photometry is derived from eight nights of CCD imaging with the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory 0.9m SMARTS telescope. Instrumental magnitudes were transformed to the Johnson B, V system using accurate calibration relations based on a large sample of Landolt-Stetson equatorial standard stars, which were observed on the same nights as the cluster stars. Residual analysis of the equatorial standards used for the calibration, and validation of the new photometry using Stetson's sample of secondary standards in the vicinities of the five Large Magellanic Cloud clusters, shows excellent agreement with our values in both magnitudes and colors. Color-magnitude diagrams reaching to the main-sequence turnoffs at V~22mag, sigma-magnitude diagrams, and various other summaries are presented for each cluster to illustrate the range and quality of the new photometry. The photometry should prove useful for future studies of the Magellanic Cloud globular clusters, particularly studies of their variable stars.

- The youngest stellar populations of a 'J'-shaped region inside the supergiant shell (SGS) LMC4 have been analysed with CCD photometry in B, V passbands. This region consists of 2 coherent strips, one from the east to the west reaching about 400pc across the OB superassociation LH 77 and another extending about 850pc from south to north. The standard photometric methods yield for each of the 25 CCD fields a colour-magnitude diagram (CMD) which is used for age determination of the youngest star population by isochrone fitting. The resultant ages lie in the range from 9Myr to 16Myr without correlation with the distance to the LMC 4 centre. We therefore conclude that there must have been one triggering event for star formation inside this large LMC SGS with a diameter of 1.4kpc.

- The field of the moderately old open cluster LW 55 in the outer parts of the Large Magellanic Cloud disk was monitored for detection of short-period variable stars over two nights. Eight variables were found; all but one (a detached eclipsing binary) are small-amplitude ({Delta}V<=0.1mag) pulsating stars of the {delta} Scuti, SX Phoenicis, or Doradus type. The BV color-magnitude diagram extends down to the solar-type stars at V=24 (M_V_~5.2). The cluster age is estimated at 1.5Gyr for Z=0.004 ([Fe/H]=-0.67); the surrounding stellar field is older, with an age greater than 4Gyr.
