- Stroemgren and H{beta} photometry of O and B type stars, generally brighter than 10mag is presented for the fields of the galactic OB associations Monoceros OB2, Canis Major OB1 and Collinder 121. The observations are based on the PPM catalogue identifications and are designed to improve the completeness of the existing uvby{beta} data for the bright early-type stars in these fields. We present new uvby photometry for 343 stars and H{beta} photometry for 213 of them. These observations are part of our effort to study the structure of selected star-forming regions in the Milky Way, utilizing uvby{beta} photometry.

- We study the area around the HII region Sh 2-234, including the young open cluster Stock 8, to investigate the extent and definition of the association Aur OB2 and the possible role of triggering in massive cluster formation. We obtained Stromgren and J, H, Ks photometry for Stock 8 and Stromgren photometry for two other cluster candidates in the area, which we confirm as young open clusters and name Alicante 11 and Alicante 12. We took spectroscopy of ~33 early-type stars in the area, including the brightest cluster members. We calculate a common distance of 2.80+0.27-0.24kpc for the three open clusters and surrounding association. We derive an age 4-6Ma for Stock 8, and do not find a significantly different age for the other clusters or the association. The star LS V +34 23, with spectral type O8 II(f), is likely the main source of ionization of Sh 2-234. We observe an important population of pre-main-sequence stars, some of them with discs, associated with the B-type members lying on the main sequence. We interpret the region as an area of recent star formation with some residual and very localized ongoing star formation. We do not find evidence for sequential star formation on a large scale. The classical definition of Aur OB2 has to be reconsidered, because its two main open clusters, Stock 8 and NGC 1893, are not at the same distance. Stock 8 is probably located in the Perseus arm, but other nearby HII regions whose distances also place them in this arm show quite different distances and radial velocities and, therefore, are not connected.

- The Palomar-Green Catalogue of UV-excess stellar objects provides positions accurate to about 8arcsec in each coordinate, photographic B-magnitudes accurate to 0.29mag, spectral types, some cross-references, and photoelectric broad-band, multichannel, and Stroemgren colors when available. Of the 1874 objects in the catalogue as published in 1986 (1878 in this version), 1715 comprise a statistically complete sample covering 10714 square degrees from 266 fields taken on the Palomar 18-inch Schmidt telescope. Limiting magnitudes vary from field to field, ranging from 15.49 to 16.67. The overall completeness is estimated to be 84%, but that figure and the relative contributions of magnitude, color, and accidental errors vary depending on the magnitude and color distribution of the spectroscopic subsample.

- We present continuous multicolor photometry for 47 stars from October 1996 through June 1997. Altogether, 7073 V(RI)_c_, UBV, and by data points, each the average of three individual readings, were acquired with three automatic photoelectric telescopes (APTs) at Fairborn Observatory in southern Arizona. Most of our targets are chromospherically active single and binary stars of spectral type G to K but there are also four pre-main-sequence objects and three pulsating stars in our sample. The light variability is generally due to rotational modulation of an asymmetrically spotted stellar surface and therefore precise rotational periods and their seasonal variations are determined from Fourier analysis. We also report on photometric variations of {gamma} CrB (A0V) with a period of 0.44534 days. All data are available in numerical form.

- of the paper: The birthrate of stars of masses >=10M_{sun}_ is estimated from a sample of just over 400 O3-B2 dwarfs within 1.5kpc of the Sun and the result extrapolated to estimate the Galactic supernova rate contributed by such stars. The solar-neighborhood Galactic-plane massive star birthrate is estimated at ~176stars/kpc^3^/Myr. On the basis of a model in which the Galactic stellar density distribution comprises a "disk+central hole" like that of the dust infrared emission (as proposed by Drimmel and Spergel), the Galactic supernova rate is estimated at probably not less than ~1 nor more than ~2 per century and the number of O3-B2 dwarfs within the solar circle at ~200000.

- We use CCD and photoelectric photometry with Stromgren filters along with medium resolution spectra to investigate NGC 6520, an open cluster very nearly in the direction of the galactic center. We find an age of 60Myr, a distance of 2kpc, and an average reddening E(b-y)=0.295, which increases toward the south. The average heliocentric radial velocity of the B stars is -29km/s, while the velocity of the nearby Barnard 86 is about 0 (heliocentric; -11km/s compared to the LSR). This velocity difference amounts to about 1.8kpc since the cluster formed, implying that it is extremely doubtful NGC6520 is related to Barnard 86.

- The surface brightness-colour relation (SBCR) is a basic tool for establishing precise and accurate distances within the Local Group. Detached eclipsing binary stars with accurately determined radii and trigonometric parallaxes allow calibration of the SBCRs with unprecedented accuracy. We analysed four nearby eclipsing binary stars containing late F-type main sequence components: AL Ari, AL Dor, FM Leo, and BN Scl. We determined very precise spectroscopic orbits and combined them with high-precision ground- and space-based photometry. We derived the astrophysical parameters of their components with mean errors of 0.1% for mass and 0.4% for radius. We combined those four systems with another 24 nearby eclipsing binaries with accurately known radii from the literature for which Gaia EDR3 parallaxes are available in order to derive the SBCRs. The resulting SBCRs cover stellar spectral types from B9 V to G7 V. For calibrations, we used Johnson optical B and V , Gaia GBP and G, and 2MASS JHK bands. The most precise relations are calibrated using the infrared K band and allow angular diameters of A-, F-, and G-type dwarf and subgiant stars to be predicted with a precision of 1%

- Asteroseismology has the capability of precisely determining stellar properties that would otherwise be inaccessible, such as radii, masses, and thus ages of stars. When coupling this information with classical determinations of stellar parameters, such as metallicities, effective temperatures, and angular diameters, powerful new diagnostics for Galactic studies can be obtained. The ongoing Stromgren survey for Asteroseismology and Galactic Archaeology (SAGA) has the goal of transforming the Kepler field into a new benchmark for Galactic studies, similar to the solar neighborhood. Here we present the first results from a stripe centered at a Galactic longitude of 74{deg} and covering latitude from about 8{deg} to 20{deg}, which includes almost 1000 K giants with seismic information and the benchmark open cluster NGC 6819. We describe the coupling of classical and seismic parameters, the accuracy as well as the caveats of the derived effective temperatures, metallicities, distances, surface gravities, masses, and radii. Confidence in the achieved precision is corroborated by the detection of the first and secondary clumps in a population of field stars with a ratio of 2 to 1 and by the negligible scatter in the seismic distances among NGC 6819 member stars. An assessment of the reliability of stellar parameters in the Kepler Input Catalog is also performed, and the impact of our results for population studies in the Milky Way is discussed, along with the importance of an all-sky Stromgren survey.

- Spectrophotometry is presented for 237 stars in 7 nearby open clusters: Hyades, Pleiades, Alpha Persei, Praesepe, Coma Berenices, IC 4665, and M39. The observations were taken by Lee McDonald and David Burstein using the Wampler single-channel scanner on the Crossley 0.9m telescope at Lick Observatory from 1973 July through 1974 December. Sixteen bandpasses spanning the spectral range 3500-7780{AA} were observed for each star, with bandwidths 32, 48, or 64{AA}. Data are standardized to the Hayes-Latham system to mutual accuracy of 0.016mag per passband. The accuracy of the spectrophotometry is assessed in three ways on a star-by-star basis. First, comparisons are made with previously published spectrophotometry for 19 stars observed in common. Second, (B-V) colors and uvby colors are compared for 236 stars and 221 stars, respectively. Finally, comparisons are made for 200 main sequence stars to the spectral synthesis models of Kurucz, fixing logg=4.0 and [Fe/H]=0.0, and only varying effective temperature. The accuracy of tests using uvby colors and the Kurucz models are shown to track each other closely, yielding an accuracy estimate (1{sigma}) of 0.01mag for the 13 colors formed from bandpasses longward of the Balmer jump, and 0.02mag for the 3 colors formed from the three bandpasses below the Balmer jump. In contrast, larger scatter is found relative to the previously published spectrophotometry of Bohm-Vitense & Johnson (1977ApJS...35..461B) (16 stars in common) and Gunn & Stryker (1983, Cat. <III/88>) (3 stars). We also show that the scatter in the fits of the spectrophotometric colors and the uvby filter colors is a reasonable way to identify the observations of which specific stars are accurate to 1{sigma}, 2{sigma}, .... As such, the residuals from both the filter color fits and the Kurucz model fits are tabulated for each star where it was possible to make a comparison, so users of these data can choose stars according to the accuracy of the data that is appropriate to their needs. The very good agreement between the models and these data verifies the accuracy of these data, and also verifies the usefulness of the Kurucz models to define spectrophotometry for stars in this temperature range (>5000K). These data define accurate spectrophotometry of bright, open cluster stars that can be used as a secondary flux calibration for CCD-based spectrophotometric surveys.
