- The original catalog lists the flare stars discovered by different astronomical observatories over an area slightly larger than 20 square degrees in the Pleiades regions centered on Alcyone. Not all the flare stars are members of this cluster, membership indicators are provided in the catalog. The catalog, combining Tables 1 and 2 of the publication, gives the data for 1531 flares of 519 flare stars.

- I present integrated colors and surface brightness fluctuation magnitudes in the mid-infrared (IR), derived from stellar population synthesis models that include the effects of the dusty envelopes around thermally pulsing asymptotic giant branch (TP-AGB) stars. The models are based on the Bruzual & Charlot CB* isochrones; they are single-burst, range in age from a few Myr to 14Gyr, and comprise metallicities between Z=0.0001 and Z=0.04. I compare these models to mid-IR data of AGB stars and star clusters in the Magellanic Clouds, and study the effects of varying self-consistently the mass-loss rate, the stellar parameters, and the output spectra of the stars plus their dusty envelopes. I find that models with a higher than fiducial mass-loss rate are needed to fit the mid-IR colors of "extreme" single AGB stars in the Large Magellanic Cloud. Surface brightness fluctuation magnitudes are quite sensitive to metallicity for 4.5{mu}m and longer wavelengths at all stellar population ages, and powerful diagnostics of mass-loss rate in the TP-AGB for intermediate-age populations, between 100Myr and 2-3Gyr.

- Detection of transiting exoplanets around young stars is more difficult than for older systems owing to increased stellar variability. Nine young open cluster planets have been found in the K2 data, but no single analysis pipeline identified all planets. We have developed a transit search pipeline for young stars that uses a transit-shaped notch and quadratic continuum in a 12 or 24 hr window to fit both the stellar variability and the presence of a transit. In addition, for the most rapid rotators (P_rot_<2 days) we model the variability using a linear combination of observed rotations of each star. To maximally exploit our new pipeline, we update the membership for four stellar populations observed by K2 (Upper Scorpius, Pleiades, Hyades, Praesepe) and conduct a uniform search of the members. We identify all known transiting exoplanets in the clusters, 17 eclipsing binaries, one transiting planet candidate orbiting a potential Pleiades member, and three orbiting unlikely members of the young clusters. Limited injection recovery testing on the known planet hosts indicates that for the older Praesepe systems we are sensitive to additional exoplanets as small as 1-2 R_{Earth}_, and for the larger Upper Scorpius planet host (K2-33) our pipeline is sensitive to ~4 R_{Earth}_ transiting planets. The lack of detected multiple systems in the young clusters is consistent with the expected frequency from the original Kepler sample, within our detection limits. With a robust pipeline that detects all known planets in the young clusters, occurrence rate testing at young ages is now possible.

- We present the first extensive spectroscopic study of the global population in star clusters Trumpler 16, Trumpler 14, and Collinder 232 in the Carina nebula, using data from the Gaia-ESO Survey, down to solar-mass stars. In addition to the standard homogeneous survey data reduction, a special processing was applied here because of the bright nebulosity surrounding Carina stars. We find about 400 good candidate members ranging from OB types down to slightly subsolar masses. About 100 heavily reddened early-type Carina members found here were previously unrecognized or poorly classified, including two candidate O stars and several candidate Herbig Ae/Be stars. Their large brightness makes them useful tracers of the obscured Carina population. The spectroscopically derived temperatures for nearly 300 low-mass members enables the inference of individual extinction values and the study of the relative placement of stars along the line of sight. We find a complex spatial structure with definite clustering of low-mass members around the most massive stars and spatially variable extinction. By combining the new data with existing X-ray data, we obtain a more complete picture of the three-dimensional spatial structure of the Carina clusters and of their connection to bright and dark nebulosity and UV sources. The identification of tens of background giants also enables us to determine the total optical depth of the Carina nebula along many sightlines. We are also able to put constraints on the star formation history of the region with Trumpler 14 stars found to be systematically younger than stars in other subclusters. We find a large percentage of fast-rotating stars among Carina solar-mass members, which provide new constraints on the rotational evolution of pre-main-sequence stars in this mass range.

- We present the deepest and highest resolution near-infrared imaging to date of cluster Trumpler 14 in Carina. Our goal is to identify and characterise the young stellar population of this massive cluster. We made use of deep and wide-field NIR images from NTT and VLT observations, that were sensitive enough to detect substellar sources at the distance to this cluster, and at high enough resolution (VLT diffraction limited) to fully resolve the core of the cluster crowded with O stars.

- As part of a long-term programme, we analyse the evolutionary status and properties of the old and populous open cluster Trumpler 5 (Tr 5), located in the Galactic anticentre direction, almost on the Galactic plane. Tr 5 was observed with Wide Field Imager@MPG/ESO Telescope using the Bessel U, B, and V filters. The cluster parameters have been obtained using the synthetic colour-magnitude diagram (CMD) method, i.e. the direct comparison of the observational CMD with a library of synthetic CMDs generated with different stellar evolution sets (Padova, FRANEC, and FST). Age, reddening, and distance are derived through the synthetic CMD method using stellar evolutionary models with subsolar metallicity (Z=0.004 or Z=0.006). Additional spectroscopic observations with Ultraviolet VLT Echelle Spectrograph@Very Large Telescope of three red clump stars of the cluster were used to determine more robustly the chemical properties of the cluster. Our analysis shows that Tr 5 has subsolar metallicity, with [Fe/H]=-0.403+/-0.006 dex (derived from spectroscopy), age between 2.9 and 4 Gyr (the lower age is found using stellar models without core overshooting), reddening E(B-V) in the range 0.60-0.66 mag complicated by a differential pattern (of the order of ~+/-0.1mag), and distance modulus (m-M)_0_=12.4+/-0.1mag.

- This paper presents the results of an U band survey with FORS1/VLT of a large area in the sigma Ori star-forming region. We combine the U-band photometry with literature data to compute accretion luminosity and mass accretion rates from the U-band excess emission for all objects (187) detected by Spitzer in the FORS1 field and classified by Hernandez et al. (2007, Cat. J/ApJ/662/1067) as likely members of the cluster.

- Results of photoelectric UBVRI photometry of 78 stars and photographic PDS and CCD photometry for 437 stars are presented for Collinder 110, an old open cluster at low Galactic latitude. Proper motions obtained from Lick Sky Survey plates were used to identify 39 stars as foreground objects. The cluster's reddening, distance, and age are estimated as E(B-V)=0.50+/-0.03mag, r=1950+/-300pc, and t=1.4+/-0.3Gyr, assuming a solar metal abundance.

- New, accurate radial velocities and photoelectric UBV photometry of 83 red-giant candidates in the field of the rich, intermediate-age open cluster NGC 2477 ([Fe/H]=-0.05, age ~1Gyr) are presented and discussed. From 49 constant-velocity members we find a mean cluster velocity of +7.32+/-0.13km/s and confirm the membership of 76 of the stars. Among the cluster members, we identify 26 definite and 1 probable spectroscopic binaries and determine orbits for 13 of these systems, with periods ranging from 40 to 4578 days. The binary frequency is thus rather high (27/76=36%). The observed internal radial velocity dispersion of the cluster, as determined from the single member stars, is 0.93km/s, corrected for the small average observational error of 0.22km/s. Fitting King-type models to the observed stellar density distribution and velocity dispersion, and assuming a distance of 1.25kpc, we find the core and tidal radii of NGC 2477 to be 1.8 and 8.1pc, respectively, and estimate that the mass of cluster stars down to V=17, corresponding to ~1M_{sun}_, is at least 5400 M_{sun}_. The substantial differential reddening of NGC 247 requires a more detailed study before definitive isochrone fits can be made.

- We present UBV CCD observations obtained in the field of the northern open cluster NGC 1220, for which little information is available. We provide also BV CCD photometry of a field 5' northward of NGC 1220 to take into account field star contamination. We argue that NGC 1220 is a young compact open cluster, for which we estimate a core radius in the range 1.5-2.0arcmin. We identify 26 likely candidate members with spectral type earlier than A5, down to V_0_=15.00mag on the basis of the position in the two-colour Diagram and in the Colour Magnitude Diagrams (CMDs). By analyzing the distribution of these stars in the colour-colour and CMDs, we find that NGC 1220 has a reddening E(B-V)=0.70+/-0.15mag, is placed 1800+/-200pc distant from the Sun, and has an age of about 60Myrs. The cluster turns out to be located about 120pc above the Galactic plane, relatively high with respect to its age.
