- We carry out a joint spatial-kinematical-metallicity analysis of globular clusters (GCs) around the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), using a homogeneous, high-quality spectroscopic data set. In particular, we remove the contaminating young clusters that have plagued many previous analyses. We find that the clusters can be divided into three major metallicity groups based on their radial distributions: (1) an inner metal-rich group ([Fe/H]>-0.4); (2) a group with intermediate metallicity (with median [Fe/H]=-1); and (3) a metal-poor group, with [Fe/H]. The metal-rich group has kinematics and spatial properties like those of the disk of M31, while the two more metal-poor groups show mild prograde rotation overall, with larger dispersions --in contrast to previous claims of stronger rotation. The metal-poor GCs are the least concentrated group; such clusters occur five times less frequently in the central bulge than do clusters of higher metallicity. Despite some well-known differences between the M31 and Milky Way GC systems, our revised analysis points to remarkable similarities in their chemodynamical properties, which could help elucidate the different formation stages of galaxies and their GCs. In particular, the M31 results motivate further exploration of a metal-rich GC formation mode in situ, within high-redshift, clumpy galactic disks.

- We have carried out a multiwavelength study of the plane of our Galaxy in order to establish a star-forming-complex catalogue which is as complete as possible. Features observed include H{alpha}, H109{alpha}, CO, the radio continuum and absorption lines. For each complex we have determined the position, the systemic velocity, the kinematic distance and, when possible, the stellar distance and the corresponding uncertainties. All of these parameters were determined as homogeneously as possible, in particular all the stellar distances have been (re)calculated with the same calibration and the kinematic distances with the same mean Galactic rotation curve. Through the complexes with stellar distance determination, a rotation curve has been fitted. It is in good agreement with the one of Brand & Blitz (1993, Cat. <J/A+A/275/67>).

- 1214 individual measurements of radial velocities made with CORAVEL-type spectrometer (Tokovinin, 1987AZh....64..196T) are presented for 1134 stars in 19 northern Kapteyn's areas. Precise coordinates are given for all these stars. Proper motions of stars are taken from NLTT (Luyten, 1979, Cat. <I/98>), PPM (Roser, Bastian, 1991, Cat. <I/146> and <I/193>), NPM1 (Klemola, Hanson, Jones, 1987, Cat. <I/200>) and Four-million catalog (Kuimov, 1992, In: On the four-million catalog of stars, eds. Izd. MGU, Moscow, P.27.; Glushkova et al., 1996PAZh...22..850G). A list of suspected binary stars and stars with variable radial velocities is also given. Two-dimensional spectral classification for these area is available (Bartaya, 1979AbaOB..51....1B).

- We obtain the basic properties of the nuclear cluster of the Milky Way. First, we investigate the structural properties by constructing a stellar density map of the central 1000" using extinction-corrected old star counts from VISTA, WFC3/IR, and VLT/NACO data. We describe the data using two components. The inner, slightly flattened (axis ratio of q=0.80+/-0.04) component is the nuclear cluster, while the outer component corresponds to the stellar component of the circumnuclear zone. For the nuclear cluster, we measure a half-light radius of 178+/-51"~7+/-2pc and a luminosity of M_Ks_=-16.0+/-0.5. Second, we measure detailed dynamics out to 4pc. We obtain 10351 proper motions from AO data, and 2513 radial velocities from VLT/SINFONI data. We determine the cluster mass by means of isotropic spherical Jeans modeling. We fix the distance to the Galactic Center and the mass of the supermassive black hole. We model the cluster either with a constant M/L or with a power law. For the latter case, we obtain a slope of 1.18+/-0.06. We get a cluster mass within 100" of M_100"_=(6.09+/-0.53|_fixR_0_+/-0.97|_R_0_)x10^6^M_{sun}_ for both modeling approaches. A model which includes the observed flattening gives a 47% larger mass (see Chatzopoulos et al. 2015MNRAS.447..948C). Our results slightly favor a core over a cusp in the mass profile. By minimizing the number of unbound stars within 8", we obtain a distance of R_0_=8.53_-0.15_^+0.21^kpc when using an R0 supermassive black hole mass relation from stellar orbits. Combining our results, we obtain M/L=0.51+/-0.12M_{sun}/L_{sun},Ks_, which is roughly consistent with a Chabrier IMF.

- We present a comprehensive analysis of the spatial, kinematic and chemical properties of stars and globular clusters (GCs) in the 'ordinary' elliptical galaxy NGC 4494 using data from the Keck and Subaru telescopes. We derive galaxy surface brightness and colour profiles out to large galactocentric radii. We compare the latter to metallicities derived using the near-infrared Calcium Triplet. We obtain stellar kinematics out to ~3.5 effective radii.

- The question of the existence of active and prominent tidal disruption around various Galactic dwarf spheroidal (dSph) galaxies remains controversial. That debate often centers on the nature (bound vs. unbound) of extended populations of stars claimed to lie outside the bounds of single King profiles fitted to the density distributions of dSph centers. However, the more fundamental issue of the very existence of the previously reported extended populations is still contentious. We present a critical evaluation of the debate centering on one particular dSph, Carina, for which claims both for and against the existence of stars beyond the King limiting radius have been made.

- Several samples of nearby stars with the most accurate astrometric and photometric parameters are searched for clues to their evolutionary history. The main samples are (1) the main-sequence stars with b-y between 0.29 and 0.59mag (F3 to K1) in the Yale parallax catalog, (2) a group of high-velocity subgiants studied spectroscopically by Ryan & Lambert (1995AJ....109.2068R), and (3) high-velocity main-sequence stars in the extensive investigation by Norris, Bessel, & Pickles (1985ApJS...58..463N). The major conclusions are as follows: (1) The oldest stars (halo), t>=10-12Gyr, have V-velocities (in the direction of Galactic rotation and referred to the Sun) in the range from about -50 to -800km/s and have a heavy-element abundance [Fe/H] of less than about -0.8dex. The age range of these objects depends on our knowledge of globular cluster ages, but if age is correlated with V-velocity, the youngest may be M22 and M28 (V~-50km/s) and the oldest NGC 3201 (V~-500km/s) and assorted field stars. (2) The old disk population covers the large age range from about 2Gyr (Hyades, NGC 752) to 10 or 12Gyr (Arcturus group, 47 Tuc), but the lag (V) velocity is restricted to less than about 120km/s and [Fe/H]>=-0.8 or -0.9dex. The [Fe/H]~-0.8dex division between halo and old disk, near t~10-12Gyr, is marked by a change in the character of the CN index (Cm) and of the blanketing parameter K of the DDO photometry. (3) The young disk population, t<2Gyr, is confined exclusively to a well-defined area of the (U, V) velocity plane. The age separating young and old disk stars is also that separating giant evolution of the Hyades (near main-sequence luminosity) and M67 (degenerate helium cores and a large luminosity rise) kinds. The two disk populations are also separated by such indexes as the g-index of Geveva photometry. There appears to be no obvious need to invoke exogeneous influences to understand the motion and heavy-element abundance distributions of the best-observed stars near the Sun. Individual stars of special interest include the parallax star HD 55575, which may be an equal-component binary, and the high-velocity star HD 220127, with a well-determined space velocity near 1000km/s.

- Spectroscopic observations for 1044 stars located primarily in the southern Galactic hemisphere are reported; the stars were chosen from a list of candidate metal-deficient stars discovered in the HK objective-prism survey. Radial velocities and line indices based on the equivalent widths of Ca II, K, H-gamma and H-delta, and the CH G band are reported. Estimates of metallicity for 874 stars with derived abundances less than -0.5 are presented.

- We present radial velocities, equivalent widths, model atmosphere parameters, and abundances or upper limits for 53 species of 48 elements derived from high resolution optical spectroscopy of 313 metal-poor stars. A majority of these stars were selected from the metal-poor candidates of the HK Survey of Beers, Preston, and Shectman. We derive detailed abundances for 61% of these stars for the first time. Spectra were obtained during a 10yr observing campaign using the Magellan Inamori Kyocera Echelle spectrograph on the Magellan Telescopes at Las Campanas Observatory, the Robert G. Tull Coude Spectrograph on the Harlan J. Smith Telescope at McDonald Observatory, and the High Resolution Spectrograph on the Hobby-Eberly Telescope at McDonald Observatory. We perform a standard LTE abundance analysis using MARCS model atmospheres, and we apply line-by-line statistical corrections to minimize systematic abundance differences arising when different sets of lines are available for analysis. We identify several abundance correlations with effective temperature. A comparison with previous abundance analyses reveals significant differences in stellar parameters, which we investigate in detail. Our metallicities are, on average, lower by {approx}0.25dex for red giants and {approx}0.04dex for subgiants. Our sample contains 19 stars with [Fe/H]<=-3.5, 84 stars with [Fe/H]<=-3.0, and 210 stars with [Fe/H]<=-2.5. Detailed abundances are presented here or elsewhere for 91% of the 209 stars with [Fe/H]<=-2.5 as estimated from medium resolution spectroscopy by Beers, Preston, and Shectman. We will discuss the interpretation of these abundances in subsequent papers.

- We present the discovery of four new long-period planets within the HARPS high-precision sample: HD137388b (Msini=0.22M_Jup_), HD204941b (Msini=0.27M_Jup_), HD7199b (Msini=0.29M_Jup_), HD7449b (Msini=1.04M_Jup_). A long-period companion, probably a second planet, is also found orbiting HD7449. Planets around HD137388, HD204941, and HD7199 have rather low eccentricities (less than 0.4) relative to the 0.82 eccentricity of HD7449b. All these planets were discovered even though their hosting stars have clear signs of activity.
