- We present the discovery and characterization of five hot and warm Jupiters TOI-628b (TIC281408474; HD288842), TOI-640b (TIC147977348), TOI-1333b (TIC395171208, BD+473521A), TOI-1478b (TIC409794137), and TOI-1601b (TIC139375960)-based on data from NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). The five planets were identified from the full-frame images and were confirmed through a series of photometric and spectroscopic follow-up observations by the TESS Follow-up Observing Program Working Group. The planets are all Jovian size (R_P_=1.01-1.77R_J_) and have masses that range from 0.85 to 6.33M_J_. The host stars of these systems have F and G spectral types (5595<~Teff<~6460K) and are all relatively bright (9.5<V<10.8, 8.2<K<9.3), making them well suited for future detailed characterization efforts. Three of the systems in our sample (TOI-640b, TOI-1333b, and TOI-1601b) orbit subgiant host stars (logg<4.1). TOI-640b is one of only three known hot Jupiters to have a highly inflated radius (R_P_>1.7R_J_, possibly a result of its host star's evolution) and resides on an orbit with a period longer than 5days. TOI-628b is the most massive, hot Jupiter discovered to date by TESS with a measured mass of 6.31_-0.30_^+0.28^M_J_ and a statistically significant, nonzero orbital eccentricity of e=0.074_-0.022_^+0.021^. This planet would not have had enough time to circularize through tidal forces from our analysis, suggesting that it might be remnant eccentricity from its migration. The longest-period planet in this sample, TOI-1478b (P=10.18days), is a warm Jupiter in a circular orbit around a near-solar analog. NASA's TESS mission is continuing to increase the sample of well-characterized hot and warm Jupiters, complementing its primary mission goals.

- Lithium abundances have been determined in 127 F and G Pop I stars based on new measurements of the equivalent width of the {lambda}6707{AA} Li I line from their high resolution CCD spectra. Distances and absolute magnitudes of these stars have been obtained from the Hipparcos Catalogue (<I/239>) and their masses and ages derived, enabling us to investigate the behaviour of lithium as a function of these parameters. Based on their location on the HR diagram superposed on theoretical evolutionary tracks, the sample of the stars has been chosen to ensure that they have more or less completed their Li depletion on the main sequence.

- A library of 211 echelle spectra taken with ELODIE at the Observatoire de Haute-Provence is proposed. It provides a set of spectroscopic standards covering the full range of gravities and metallicities in the effective temperature interval [4000K, 6300K]. The spectra are straightened, wavelength calibrated, cleaned of cosmic ray hits, bad pixels and telluric lines. They cover the spectral range [440nm, 680nm] with an instrumental resolution of 42000. For each star, basic data were compiled from the Hipparcos catalogue (Cat. <I/239>) and the Hipparcos Input Catalogue (Cat. <I/196>) (Table 1). Radial velocities with a precision better than 100m/s are given. Atmospheric parameters Teff, logg, [Fe/H] from the literature are discussed. Because of scattered determinations in the bibliography, even for the most well-known stars, these parameters were adjusted by an iterative process which takes account of common or different spectral features between the standards, using our homogeneous set of spectra. Revised values of effective temperature, gravity and metallicity are proposed in Table 1. They are still consistent with the literature, and also lead to the self-consistency of the library, in the sense that similar spectra have similar atmospheric parameters. This adjustment was performed by using step by step a method based on the least square comparison of carefully prepared spectra, which was originally developed for the on-line estimation of the atmospheric parameters of faint field stars (Katz et al., 1998A&A...338..151K. Paper I.).

- The catalog contains Lick line-index and photometric measurements of extragalactic globular clusters in seven early-type galaxies (NGC 1380, 2434, 3115, 3379, 3585, 5846, and 7192) with different morphological types (E/S0) located in field and group/cluster environments. High-quality spectra were taken with the FORS2 instrument at ESO's Very Large Telescope. ~50% of our data allows an age resolution {Delta}t/t~0.3 and a metallicity resolution ~0.25-0.4dex, depending on the absolute metallicity. Globular cluster candidates are selected from deep B, V, R, I, K FORS2/ISAAC photometry with 80-100% success rate inside one effective radius. Using combined optical/near-infrared colour-colour diagrams we present a method to efficiently reduce fore-/background contamination down to <~10%.

- Using high-quality data on 149 galaxies within 10Mpc, I find no correlation between luminosity and peculiar velocity at all. There is no unequivocal sign on scales of 12Mpc of the expected gravitational effect of the brightest galaxies, in particular infall toward groups, or of infall toward the supergalactic plane on any scale. Either dark matter is not distributed in the same way as luminous matter in this region, or peculiar velocities are not due to fluctuations in mass. The sensitivity of peculiar velocity studies to the background model is highlighted.

- We present CN and CH band measurements for 137 red giant branch (RGB) and asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars in the Galactic globular cluster M10. Our measurements come from low-resolution spectroscopy taken with the Hydra spectrograph on the WIYN-3.5 m telescope. We use these measurements to identify two populations of stars within the cluster, CN-normal and CN-enhanced, and find that in our sample 60% of stars are CN-enhanced. Our large sample allows us to conduct a detailed analysis on the carbon and nitrogen abundances and the radial distribution of each population separately. Our analysis of the radial dependence shows that each population has the same radial distribution in the cluster, which is likely due to the cluster being dynamically evolved. We also compare our results to other methods of classifying multiple populations in globular clusters such as the Na-O anti-correlation and the HST pseudo-color-magnitude diagrams. We find that these three methods of identifying multiple populations are in good agreement with each other for M10 and all lead to an estimate of the fraction of second-generation stars approximately equal to 60%. Among AGB stars, when classified by the CN band, there appears to be a lack of second-generation stars when compared to the RGB stars. However, when classified by [N/Fe], we find a similar 60% of AGB stars in the second generation. Finally, we use the measured carbon and nitrogen abundances in RGB stars to study the change of each element with magnitude as stars evolve up the RGB, comparing the results to globular clusters of similar metallicity, M3 and M13.

- Particularly accurate relative distances are compiled and homogenized for (1) 246 Type Ia supernovae and 35 clusters with v<30000km/s, and (2) relatively nearby galaxies with 176 tip of the red-giant branch and 30 Cepheid distances. The 487 objects define a tight Hubble diagram from 300-30000km/s implying individual distance errors of <~7.5%. Here the velocities are corrected for Virgocentric steaming (locally 220km/s) and -if v_220_>3500km/s- for a 495km/s motion of the Local Supercluster toward the warm cosmic microwave background (CMB) pole at l=275, b=12; local peculiar motions are averaged out by large numbers.

- We have observed high-dispersion echelle spectra of red giant members in the five open clusters (OCs) NGC 1342, NGC 1662, NGC 1912, NGC 2354 and NGC 2447 and determined their radial velocities and chemical compositions. These are the first chemical abundance measurements for all but NGC 2447. We combined our clusters from this and previous papers with a sample drawn from the literature for which we remeasured the chemical abundances to establish a common abundance scale. With this homogeneous sample of OCs, we study the relative elemental abundances of stars in OCs in comparison with field stars as a function of age and metallicity. We find a range of mild enrichment of heavy (Ba-Eu) elements in young OC giants over field stars of the same metallicity. Our analysis supports that the youngest stellar generations in cluster might be underrepresented by the solar neighbourhood field stars.

- The origin of the Li-rich K giants is still highly debated. Here, we investigate the incidence of binarity among this family from a nine-year radial-velocity monitoring of a sample of 11 Li-rich K giants using the HERMES spectrograph attached to the 1.2m Mercator Telescope. A sample of 13 non-Li-rich giants (8 of them being surrounded by dust according to IRAS, WISE, and ISO data) was monitored alongside. When compared to the binary frequency in a reference sample of 190K giants (containing 17.4% of definite spectroscopic binaries - SB - and 6.3% of possible spectroscopic binaries - SB?), the binary frequency appears normal among the Li-rich giants (2/11 definite binaries plus 2 possible binaries, or 18.2% SB + 18.2% SB?), after taking account of the small sample size through the hypergeometric probability distribution. Therefore, there appears to be no causal relationship between Li enrichment and binarity. Moreover, there is no correlation between Li enrichment and the presence of circumstellar dust, and the only correlation that could be found between Li enrichment and rapid rotation is that the most Li-enriched K giants appear to be fast-rotating stars. However, among the dusty K giants, the binary frequency is much higher (4/8 definite binaries plus 1 possible binary). The remaining 3 dusty K giants suffer from a radial-velocity jitter, as is expected for the most luminous K giants, which these are.
