- Close double degenerate binaries are one of the favoured progenitor channels for type Ia supernovae, but it is unclear how many suitable systems there are in the Galaxy. We report results of a large radial velocity survey for double degenerate (DD) binaries using the UVES spectrograph at the ESO VLT (ESO SNIa Progenitor surveY - SPY). Exposures taken at different epochs are checked for radial velocity shifts indicating close binary systems.We observed 689 targets classified as DA (displaying hydrogen-rich atmospheres), of which 46 turned out to possess a cool companion. We measured radial velocities (RV) of the remaining 643 DA white dwarfs.We managed to secure observations at two or more epochs for 625 targets, supplemented by eleven objects meeting our selection criteria from literature. The data reduction and analysis methods applied to the survey data are described in detail. The sample contains 39 double degenerate binaries, only four of which were previously known. 20 are double-lined systems, in which features from both components are visible, the other 19 are single-lined binaries. We provide absolute RVs transformed to the heliocentric system suitable for kinematic studies. Our sample is large enough to sub-divide by mass: 16 out of 44 low mass targets (<=0.45M_{sun}_) are detected as DDs, while just 23 of the remaining 567 with multiple spectra and mass >0.45M_{sun}_ are double. Although the detected fraction amongst the low mass objects (36.4+/-7.3%) is significantly higher than for the higher-mass, carbon/oxygen-core dominated part of the sample (3.9+/-0.8%), it is lower than the detection efficiency based upon companion star masses of 0.05M_{sun}_ or higher and a 100% binary fraction. This suggests either companion stars of mass below 0.05M_{sun}_ or some of the low mass white dwarfs are single.

- We present 546 optical redshifts obtained for galaxies in the region of the Horologium-Reticulum supercluster (HRS) using the 6{deg} field (6dF) multifiber spectrograph on the UK Schmidt Telescope at the Anglo-Australian Observatory. The HRS covers an area of more than 12{deg}x12{deg} on the sky centered at approximately RA=03h19m, DE=-50{deg}02'.

- We present spectroscopic data for individual stars observed from 2004 March through 2008 August as part of our Michigan/MIKE Fiber System (MMFS) survey of four dwarf spheroidal (dSph) galaxies: Carina, Fornax, Sculptor, and Sextans. Using MMFS at the Magellan/Clay Telescope at Las Campanas Observatory, we have acquired 8855 spectra from 7103 red-giant candidates in these Galactic satellites. We list measurements of each star's line-of-sight velocity (median error +/-2.1km/s) and spectral line indices for iron and magnesium absorption features.

- The surface brightness-colour relation (SBCR) is a basic tool for establishing precise and accurate distances within the Local Group. Detached eclipsing binary stars with accurately determined radii and trigonometric parallaxes allow calibration of the SBCRs with unprecedented accuracy. We analysed four nearby eclipsing binary stars containing late F-type main sequence components: AL Ari, AL Dor, FM Leo, and BN Scl. We determined very precise spectroscopic orbits and combined them with high-precision ground- and space-based photometry. We derived the astrophysical parameters of their components with mean errors of 0.1% for mass and 0.4% for radius. We combined those four systems with another 24 nearby eclipsing binaries with accurately known radii from the literature for which Gaia EDR3 parallaxes are available in order to derive the SBCRs. The resulting SBCRs cover stellar spectral types from B9 V to G7 V. For calibrations, we used Johnson optical B and V , Gaia GBP and G, and 2MASS JHK bands. The most precise relations are calibrated using the infrared K band and allow angular diameters of A-, F-, and G-type dwarf and subgiant stars to be predicted with a precision of 1%

- Spectroscopic orbits of the 12 eclipsing binary systems, TW And, CD And, RS Ari, RU Cnc, TW Cnc, UU Cnc, V788 Cyg, AW Her, MM Her, RV Lib, EW Ori and ZZ UMa are obtained from Coravel and Elodie radial velocity measurements. We obtain a first orbit for CD And, RS Ari, TW Cnc, and V788 Cyg. For the systems TW And, RU Cnc, UU Cnc, AW Her, MM Her, RV Lib, EW Ori and ZZ UMa, the new spectroscopic orbits are either better or of quality comparable to that previously published. The physical properties of these systems were estimated with the photometric parameters from available data except CD And, TW Cnc, UU Cnc, V788 Cyg and RV Lib for which we found a model compatible with the observations. The systems RU Cnc, AW Her, MM Her and RV Lib belong to RS CVn group. In general these systems were difficult to observe with Coravel, on the one hand because the stars are relatively weak and on the other hand because of nature of the components giving peaks of correlation with weak contrast.

- We present radial velocities and line bisectors for 12 giants with high Li abundance. We report the discovery of two new planetary systems around HD238914 and TYC3318-01333-1, reveal a binary Li-rich giant HD181368. Although our current phase coverage is not complete, we suggest the presence of planetary mass companions around TYC3663-01966-1 and TYC3105-00152-1. We confirm the previous result for BD+48 740 (Adamow et al, 2012ApJ...754L..15A).

- Rotational velocity measurements are presented for a sample of 78 double-lined binary systems with an evolved component. This work is the third part of the large survey carried out with the CORAVEL spectrometer to establish the behavior the rotation for stars evolving off the main sequence (De Medeiros & Mayor, 1999, Cat. <J/A+AS/139/433>; De Medeiros et al. 2002, Cat. <J/A+A/395/97>). Some of the stars show an orbital motion which require some further analysis; the corresponding results will be included in a forthcoming paper. The stars concerned are HD 5303, 82543, 169268, 172088 and 250810.

- We present the second paper of a series of publications aiming at obtaining a better understanding regarding the nature of type Ia supernovae (SN Ia) progenitors by studying a large sample of detached F, G and K main-sequence stars in close orbits with white dwarf companions (i.e. WD+FGK binaries). We employ the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fibre Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) data release 4 spectroscopic data base together with Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) ultraviolet fluxes to identify 1549 WD+FGK binary candidates (1057 of which are new), thus doubling the number of known sources. We measure the radial velocities of 1453 of these binaries from the available LAMOST spectra and/or from spectra obtained by us at a wide variety of different telescopes around the globe. The analysis of the radial velocity data allows us to identify 24 systems displaying more than 3{sigma} radial velocity variation that we classify as close binaries. We also discuss the fraction of close binaries among WD+FGK systems, which we find to be ~10 per cent, and demonstrate that high-resolution spectroscopy is required to efficiently identify double-degenerate SN Ia progenitor candidates.

- We present template radial velocity curves of ab-type RR Lyrae stars constructed from high-precision measurements of H{alpha}, H{beta}, and H{gamma} lines. Amplitude correlations between the Balmer line velocity curves, Johnson V band, and Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) g- and r-band light curves are also derived. Compared to previous methods, these templates and derived correlations reduce the uncertainty in measured systemic (center-of-mass) velocities of RR Lyrae stars by up to 15km/s, and will be of particular interest to wide-area spectroscopic surveys such as the SDSS and LAMOST Experiment for Galactic Understanding and Exploration.

- We present new radial velocities (RVs), improved pulsation periods, and reference epochs of 11 field RR Lyrae ab-type variables: AS Vir, BS Aps, CD Vel, DT Hya, RV Oct, TY Gru, UV Oct, V1645 Sgr, WY Ant, XZ Aps, and Z Mic. This study is based on high-resolution spectra obtained with the echelle spectrograph of the 2.5m du Pont telescope at Las Campanas Observatory. We obtained ~200 spectra per star (i.e., a total of ~2300 spectra), distributed more or less uniformly throughout their pulsation cycles. RV curves and photometric light curves phased to our new ephemerides are presented for all program stars.
