- We present the results of a new sensitive survey of neutral hydrogen above and below the Galactic Center with the Green Bank Telescope. The observations extend up to Galactic latitude |b|<10{deg} with an effective angular resolution of 9.5' and an average rms brightness temperature noise of 40mK in a 1km/s channel. The survey reveals the existence of a population of anomalous high-velocity clouds extending up to heights of about 1.5kpc from the Galactic plane and showing no signature of Galactic rotation. These clouds have local standard of rest velocities |V_LSR_|<~360km/s, and assuming a Galactic Center origin, they have sizes of a few tens of parsec and neutral hydrogen masses spanning 10-10^5^M_{sun}_. Accounting for selection effects, the cloud population is symmetric in longitude, latitude, and VLSR. We model the cloud kinematics in terms of an outflow expanding from the Galactic Center and find the population consistent with being material moving with radial velocity V_w_~330km/s distributed throughout a bicone with opening angle {alpha}>140{deg}. This simple model implies an outflow luminosity L_w_>3x10^40^erg/s over the past 10Myr, consistent with star formation feedback in the inner region of the Milky Way, with a cold gas mass-loss rate <~0.1M_{sun}_/yr. These clouds may represent the cold gas component accelerated in the nuclear wind driven by our Galaxy, although some of the derived properties challenge current theoretical models of the entrainment process.

- A catalogue of compact groups identified on the SDSS DR12 is provided. Compact Groups were identified in redshift space with a modified Hickson-like algorithm. The catalogue comprises 462 compact groups of which 406 clearly fulfil all the compact group requirements: compactness, isolation and velocity concordance of all of their members. The remaining 56 groups need further redshift information of potentially contaminating sources.

- We have recently extracted a catalog of compact groups of galaxies (CGs) from the Las Campanas Redshift Survey. This catalog of Las Campanas Compact Groups (LCCGs) contains 76 CGs with a median redshift of z_med_~0.08. The physical properties of these CGs are similar to those form Hickson (1982, Cat. <VII/213>) and the Barton et al. (1996AJ....112..871B) catalogs. Here, we present an atlas of our catalog and briefly describe its general properties.

- We investigate the properties of photometrically selected compact groups (CGs) in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. In this paper, the fourth in a series, we focus on understanding the characteristics of our observed CG sample with particular attention paid to quantifying and removing contamination from projected foreground or background galaxies. Based on a simple comparison of pairwise redshift likelihoods, we find that approximately half of CGs in the parent sample contain one or more projected (interloping) members; our final clean sample contains 4566 galaxies in 1086 CGs.

- We present the largest publicly available catalogue of compact groups (CGs) of galaxies identified using the original selection criteria of Hickson, selected from the Sixth Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS DR6). We identify 2297 CGs down to a limiting magnitude of r=18 (~0.24groups/deg^2^), and 74791 CGs down to a limiting magnitude of r=21 (~6.7groups/deg^2^). This represents 0.9 per cent of all galaxies in the SDSS DR6 at these magnitude levels.

- A compact group (CG) is a kind of special galaxy system where the galaxy members are separated at distances of the order of galaxy size. The strong interaction between the galaxy members makes CGs ideal labs for studying the environmental effects on galaxy evolution. The traditional photometric selection algorithm biases against the CG candidates at low redshifts, while the spectroscopic identification technique is affected by the spectroscopic incompleteness of sample galaxies and typically biases against the high redshift candidates. In this study, we combine these two methods and select CGs in the main galaxy sample of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, where we also have taken the advantages of the complementary redshift measurements from the LAMOST spectral and GAMA surveys. We have obtained the largest and most complete CG samples to date. Our samples include 6144 CGs and 8022 CG candidates, which are unique in the studies of the nature of the CGs and the evolution of the galaxies inside.

- We present the discovery of 57 wide (>5'') separation, low-mass (stellar and substellar) companions to stars in the solar neighborhood identified from Pan-STARRS 1 (PS1) data and the spectral classification of 31 previously known companions. Our companions represent a selective subsample of promising candidates and span a range in spectral type of K7-L9 with the addition of one DA white dwarf. These were identified primarily from a dedicated common proper motion search around nearby stars, along with a few as serendipitous discoveries from our Pan-STARRS 1 brown dwarf search. Our discoveries include 23 new L dwarf companions and one known L dwarf not previously identified as a companion. The primary stars around which we searched for companions come from a list of bright stars with well-measured parallaxes and large proper motions from the Hipparcos catalog (8583 stars, mostly A-K dwarfs) and fainter stars from other proper motion catalogs (79170 stars, mostly M dwarfs). We examine the likelihood that our companions are chance alignments between unrelated stars and conclude that this is unlikely for the majority of the objects that we have followed-up spectroscopically. We also examine the entire population of ultracool (>M7) dwarf companions and conclude that while some are loosely bound, most are unlikely to be disrupted over the course of ~10 Gyr. Our search increases the number of ultracool M dwarf companions wider than 300 AU by 88% and increases the number of L dwarf companions in the same separation range by 82%. Finally, we resolve our new L dwarf companion to HIP 6407 into a tight (0.13'', 7.4 AU) L1+T3 binary, making the system a hierarchical triple. Our search for these key benchmarks against which brown dwarf and exoplanet atmosphere models are tested has yielded the largest number of discoveries to date.

- We have made radio observations of 87 optically selected quasars at 5 GHz with the VLA in order to measure the radio power for these objects and hence determine how the fraction of radio-loud quasars varies with redshift and optical luminosity. The sample has been selected from the recently completed Edinburgh Quasar Survey and covers a redshift range of 0.3{<=}z{<=}1.5 and an optical absolute magnitude range of (-26.5){<=}M_B_{<=}(-23.5) (h=1/2, q_o_=1/2). We have also matched other existing surveys with the Faint Images of the Radio Sky at Twenty Centimeters and NRAO VLA Sky Survey radio catalogs and combined these data so that the optical luminosity-redshift plane is now far better sampled than before. We have fitted a model to the probability of a quasar being radio-loud as a function of absolute magnitude and redshift, and from this model we infer the radio-loud and radio-quiet optical luminosity functions. The radio-loud optical luminosity function is featureless and flatter than the radio-quiet one. It evolves at a marginally slower rate if quasars evolve by density evolution, but the difference in the rate of evolutions of the two different classes is much less than was previously thought.

- The Compiled Catalogue (CC) is a photometric and astrometric survey with the center at (RA, DE)_J2000 = (3.86h, 34.6{deg}) and radius of 10 degrees of a nearby region of star formation including the Per OB2 association. The CC is based on recently published astronomical catalogues, e.g. Hipparcos and Tycho-2, and supplemented by relevant astrophysical data from numerous data sources. The CC is complete down to V=11.6mag, in general, and to V=18.5mag in the one square degree field with the IC 348 cluster. The coordinates and proper motions are reduced to the Hipparcos system and the photometry in the Johnson system. Typical accuracies of 1-20mas for coordinates, 1-3mas/yr for proper motions, 0.01-0.05mag for BV magnitudes were achieved for majority of 29452 CC stars (V<12mag). For a large number of stars we also collected parallaxes and spectral classes (about 7000 stars), the R (about 2000 stars), I, J, H, K (about 500 stars) magnitudes, radial velocities (330 stars). Stars in the Compiled Catalogue are sorted in right ascension order.

- This paper presents accurate homogeneous positions, velocities and other pertinent properties for 460 newly discovered and 169 previously known planetary nebulae (PNe) in the central 25-deg^2^ bar region of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). Candidate emission sources were discovered using a deep, high-resolution H{alpha} map of the LMC obtained by median stacking a dozen 2h H{alpha} exposures taken with the UK Schmidt Telescope (UKST). Our spectroscopic follow-up of more than 2000 compact (i.e. <20arcsec) H{alpha} emission candidates uncovered has tripled the number of PNe in this area. All of the 169 previously known PNe within this region have also been independently recovered and included in this paper to create a homogeneous data set. Of the newly discovered PNe, we classify 291 as 'true', 54 as 'likely' and 115 as 'possible' based on the strength of photometric and spectroscopic evidence. Radial velocities have been measured using both weighted averaging of emission lines and cross-correlation techniques against high-quality templates.
