- We present deep optical 18-medium-band photometry from the Subaru telescope over the ~30'x30' Extended Chandra Deep Field-South, as part of the Multiwavelength Survey by Yale-Chile (MUSYC). This field has a wealth of ground- and space-based ancillary data, and contains the GOODS-South field and the Hubble Ultra Deep Field. We combine the Subaru imaging with existing UBVRIzJHK and Spitzer IRAC images to create a uniform catalog. Detecting sources in the MUSYC "BVR" image we find ~40,000 galaxies with R_AB_<25.3, the median 5{sigma} limit of the 18 medium bands. Photometric redshifts are determined using the EAzY code and compared to ~2000 spectroscopic redshifts in this field. The medium-band filters provide very accurate redshifts for the (bright) subset of galaxies with spectroscopic redshifts, particularly at 0.1<z<1.2 and at z~>3.5. For 0.1<z<1.2, we find a 1{sigma} scatter in {DELTA}z/(1+z) of 0.007, similar to results obtained with a similar filter set in the COSMOS field. As a demonstration of the data quality, we show that the red sequence and blue cloud can be cleanly identified in rest-frame color-magnitude diagrams at 0.1<z<1.2. We find that ~20% of the red sequence galaxies show evidence of dust emission at longer rest-frame wavelengths. The reduced images, photometric catalog, and photometric redshifts are provided through the public MUSYC Web site (http://www.astro.yale.edu/MUSYC/).

- We present UBVRIz' optical images taken with MOSAIC on the CTIO 4m telescope of the 0.32{deg}^2^ Extended Hubble Deep Field-South. This is one of four fields comprising the MUSYC survey, which is optimized for the study of galaxies at z=3, active galactic nucleus (AGN) demographics, and Galactic structure. Our methods used for astrometric calibration, weighted image combination, and photometric calibration in AB magnitudes are described. We calculate corrected aperture photometry and its uncertainties and find through tests that these provide a significant improvement upon standard techniques. Our photometric catalog of 62,968 objects is complete to a total magnitude of R_AB_=25, with R-band counts consistent with results from the literature.

- We have obtained the most extensive and most accurate photometric data of a Blazhko variable MW Lyrae (MW Lyr) during the 2006-2007 observing seasons. The data within each 0.05 phase bin of the modulation period (P_m_=1/f_m_) cover the entire light cycle of the primary pulsation period (P_0_=1/f_0_) , making possible a very rigorous and complete analysis.

- The DIRECT Project aims to obtain direct distances to two Local Group galaxies, M31 and M33, which occupy a crucial position near the base of the cosmological distance ladder. The first step is to search for detached eclipsing binaries (DEBs) and Cepheids using 1m class telescopes to select good candidates, which will be followed up spectroscopically on 6.510m class telescopes. In this ninth paper, we present a catalog of variable stars discovered with image subtraction in field M31Y (RA=10.97{deg}, DE=41.69{deg}; J2000.0). The data were obtained with the Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory 1.2m telescope on 25 nights, over a period of 6 months. In our search covering 22x22, we discovered 41 eclipsing binaries, 126 Cepheids, and 97 other periodic or nonperiodic variables, including a luminous blue variable candidate, a nova, and a Galactic cataclysmic variable. The catalog of variables, as well as their photometry and finding charts, is available electronically via anonymous ftp and the World Wide Web, at http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/~kstanek/DIRECT . - We present the first part of the first large and homogeneous CCD color-magnitude diagram (CMD) data base, comprising 52 nearby Galactic globular clusters (GGC) imaged in the V and I bands using only two telescopes (one for each hemisphere). The observed clusters represent 75% of the known Galactic globulars with (m-M)V<=16.15mag, cover most of the globular cluster metallicity range (-2.2<=[Fe/H]<=-0.4), and span Galactocentric distances from ~1.2 to ~18.5kpc. In this paper, the CMDs for the 39 GGCs observed in the southern hemisphere are presented. The remaining 13 northern hemisphere clusters of the catalog are presented in a companion paper. For four clusters (NGC 4833, NGC 5986, NGC 6543, and NGC 6638) we present for the first time a CMD from CCD data. The typical CMD span from the 22^nd^ V magnitude to the tip of the red giant branch. Based on a large number of standard stars, the absolute photometric calibration is reliable to the ~0.02mag level in both filters. This catalog, because of its homogeneity, is expected to represent a useful data base for the measurement of the main absolute and relative parameters characterizing the CMD of GGCs.

- We present accurate CCD astrometric and photometric data for 31 nearby visual double stars in the standard filters BVRI. The observations were collected with a 1.3-m telescope in 2001-2002. The results consist of relative astrometric positions (epoch, angular separation and position angle) and differential BVRI photometry of the components. Mean errors are: 0.01" for the separation; 0.06{deg} for the position angle; and 0.015mag for the photometric data. Comparing the relative positions at different epochs, we evaluate the physical association of the systems. We additionally derive fractional masses and true separations for the most probable binary systems and, whenever orbits are available, also total and component masses.

- We present a five-band (u* g' r' i' z') optical photometry catalog of the sources in the North Ecliptic Pole (NEP) region based on deep observations made with MegaCam at CFHT. The source catalog covers about 2 square degree area centered at the NEP and reaches depths of about 26mag for u*, g', r' bands, about 25mag for i' band, and about 24mag for z' band (4{sigma} detection over a 1" aperture). The total number of cataloged sources brighter than r'=23mag is about 56000 including both point sources and extended sources. From the investigation of photometric properties using the color- magnitude diagrams and color-color diagrams, we have found that the colors of extended sources are mostly (u*-r')<3.0 and (g'-z')>0.5. This can be used to separate the extended sources from the point sources reliably, even for the faint source domain where typical morphological classification schemes hardly work efficiently. We have derived an empirical color-redshift relation of the red sequence galaxies using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey data. By applying this relation to our photometry catalog and searching for any spatial overdensities, we have found two galaxy clusters and one nearby galaxy group.
