- This catalog contains all radio measurements of optically bright 'normal' galaxies available up until publication of this compendium in 1975. The compendium was originally intended to simplify statistical analysis of radio properties of these normal galaxies. No data processing was carried out (except to bring the data into a consistent format) and no identification was attempted. These data were originally published as Haynes R.F., Huchtmeier W.K.H., Siegman B., and Wright A.E., CSIRO Publication, 1975. The electronic version of this catalog has made small changes to the original version in an attempt to better identify positions with their source names. Where there was no entry on a line for the source name or position in the published version, data from the previous line was repeated.

- We report the discovery of a buried, active supermassive black hole (SMBH) in SDSS J085153.64+392611.76, a bulgeless Seyfert 2 (Sy2) galaxy. Keck near-infrared observations reveal a hidden broad-line region, allowing for the rare case where strong constraints can be placed on both the BH mass and bulge component. Using virial mass estimators, we obtain a BH mass of log(M_BH_/M_{sun}_)=6.78+/-0.50. This is one of the only Sy2 active galactic nuclei (AGNs) hosted in a bulgeless galaxy with a virial BH mass estimate and could provide important constraints on the formation scenarios of the BH seed population. The lack of a bulge component suggests that the SMBH has grown quiescently, likely caused by secular processes independent of major mergers. In the absence of a detectable bulge component, we find the M_BH_-M_stellar_ relation to be more reliable than the M_BH_-M_bulge_ relation. In addition, we detect extended narrow Pa{alpha} emission that allows us to create a rotation curve where we see counterrotating gas within the central kiloparsec. Possible causes of this counterrotation include a galactic bar or disruption of the inner gas by a recent fly-by of a companion galaxy. This in turn could have triggered accretion onto the central SMBH in the current AGN phase.

- We present a multiwavelength study of the active galactic nucleus in the nearby (D=14.1Mpc) low-mass galaxy IC750, which has circumnuclear 22GHz water maser emission. The masers trace a nearly edge-on, warped disk ~0.2pc in diameter, coincident with the compact nuclear X-ray source that lies at the base of the ~kiloparsec-scale extended X-ray emission. The position-velocity structure of the maser emission indicates that the central black hole (BH) has a mass less than 1.4x105M{sun}. Keplerian rotation curves fitted to these data yield enclosed masses between 4.1x104M{sun} and 1.4x105M{sun}, with a mode of 7.2x104M{sun}. Fitting the optical spectrum, we measure a nuclear stellar velocity dispersion {sigma }*=110.7_-13.4_^+12.1^km/s. From near-infrared photometry, we fit a bulge mass of (7.3{+/-}2.7)x108M{sun} and a stellar mass of 1.4x1010M{sun}. The mass upper limit of the intermediate-mass BH in IC750 falls roughly two orders of magnitude below the MBH-{sigma}* relation and roughly one order of magnitude below the MBH-MBulge and MBH-M* relations-larger than the relations' intrinsic scatters of 0.58{+/-}0.09dex, 0.69dex, and 0.65{+/-}0.09dex, respectively. These offsets could be due to larger scatter at the low-mass end of these relations. Alternatively, BH growth is intrinsically inefficient in galaxies with low bulge and/or stellar masses, which causes the BHs to be undermassive relative to their hosts, as predicted by some galaxy evolution simulations.

- We investigate directly imaging exoplanets around eclipsing binaries using the eclipse as a natural tool for dimming the binary and thus increasing the planet to star brightness contrast. At eclipse, the binary becomes pointlike, making coronagraphy possible. We select binaries where the planet-star contrast would be boosted by >10x during eclipse, making it possible to detect a planet that is >~10x fainter or in a star system that is ~2-3x more massive than otherwise. Our approach will yield insights into planet occurrence rates around binaries versus individual stars. We consider both self-luminous (SL) and reflected light (RL) planets. In the SL case, we select binaries whose age is young enough so that an orbiting SL planet would remain luminous; in U Cep and AC Sct, respectively, our method is sensitive to SL planets of ~4.5 and ~9 M_J_ with current ground- or near-future space-based instruments and ~1.5 and ~6 M_J_ with future ground-based observatories. In the RL case, there are three nearby (<~50 pc) systems-V1412 Aql, RR Cae, and RT Pic-around which a Jupiter-like planet at a planet-star separation of >~20mas might be imaged with future ground- and space-based coronagraphs. A Venus-like planet at the same distance might be detectable around RR Cae and RT Pic. A habitable Earth-like planet represents a challenge; while the planet-star contrast at eclipse and planet flux are accessible with a 6-8m space telescope, the planet-star separation is 1/3-1/4 of the angular separation limit of modern coronagraphy.

- Quasars are essential for astrometric in the sense that they are spatial stationary because of their large distance from the Sun. The European Space Agency (ESA) space astrometric satellite Gaia is scanning the whole sky with unprecedented accuracy up to a few uas level. However, Gaia's two fields of view observations strategy may introduce a parallax bias in the Gaia catalog. Since it presents no significant parallax, quasar is perfect nature object to detect such bias. More importantly, quasars can be used to construct a Celestial Reference Frame in the optical wavelengths in Gaia mission. In this paper, we compile the most reliable quasars existing in literatures.The final compilation (designated as Known Quasars Catalog for Gaia mission, KQCG) contains 1842076 objects, among of them, 797632 objects are found in Gaia DR1 after cross-identifications. This catalog will be very useful in Gaia mission.

- M dwarfs host most of the exoplanets in the local Milky Way. Some of these planets, ranging from sub-Earths to super-Jupiters, orbit in their stars' habitable zones (HZs), although many likely possess surface environments that preclude habitability. Moreover, exomoons around these planets could harbor life for long timescales and thus may also be targets for biosignature surveys. Here we investigate the potential habitability, stability, and detectability of exomoons around exoplanets orbiting M dwarfs. We first compile an updated list of known M-dwarf exoplanet hosts, comprising 109 stars and 205 planets. For each M dwarf, we compute and update precise luminosities with the Virtual Observatory spectral energy distribution Analyzer and Gaia DR2 parallaxes to determine inner and outer boundaries of their HZs. For each planet, we retrieve (or, when necessary, homogeneously estimate) their masses and radii, calculate the long-term dynamical stability of hypothetical moons, and identify those planets that can support habitable moons. We find that 33 exoplanet candidates are located in the HZs of their host stars and that four of them could host Moon- to Titan-mass exomoons for timescales longer than the Hubble time.

- The distribution of the stellar rotation axes of 113 main sequence stars in the open cluster Praesepe are examined by using current photometric rotation periods, spectroscopic rotation velocities, and estimated stellar radii. Three different samples of stellar rotation data on spotted stars from the Galactic field and two independent samples of planetary hosts are used as control samples to support the consistency of the analysis. Considering the high completeness of the Praesepe sample and the behavior of the control samples, we find that the main sequence F-K stars in this cluster are susceptible to rotational axis alignment. Using a cone model, the most likely inclination angle is 76+/-14{deg} with a half opening angle of 47+/-24{deg}. Non-isotropic distribution of the inclination angles is preferred over the isotropic distribution, except if the rotation velocities used in this work are systematically overestimated. We found no indication of this being the case on the basis of the currently available data.

- We study the redshift distribution of two samples of early-type gravitational lenses, extracted from a larger collection of 122 systems, to constrain the cosmological constant in the {Lambda}CDM model and the parameters of a set of alternative dark energy models (XCDM, Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati, and Ricci dark energy models), in a spatially flat universe. The likelihood is maximized for {Omega}_{Lambda}_=0.70+/-0.09 when considering the sample excluding the Sloan Lens ACS systems (known to be biased toward large image-separation lenses) and no-evolution, and {Omega}_{Lambda}_=0.81+/-0.05 when limiting to gravitational lenses with image separation {Delta}{theta}>2" and no-evolution. In both cases, results accounting for galaxy evolution are consistent within 1{sigma}. The present test supports the accelerated expansion, by excluding the null hypothesis (i.e., {Omega}_{Lambda}_=0) at more than 4{sigma}, regardless of the chosen sample and assumptions on the galaxy evolution. A comparison between competitive world models is performed by means of the Bayesian information criterion. This shows that the simplest cosmological constant model--that has only one free parameter--is still preferred by the available data on the redshift distribution of gravitational lenses. We perform an analysis of the possible systematic effects, finding that the systematic errors due to sample incompleteness, galaxy evolution, and model uncertainties approximately equal the statistical errors, with present-day data. We find that the largest sources of systemic errors are the dynamical normalization and the high-velocity cutoff factor, followed by the faint-end slope of the velocity dispersion function.

- We present a statistical study of the largest bibliographic compilation of stellar and orbital parameters of W UMa stars derived by light-curve synthesis with Roche models. The compilation includes nearly 700 individually investigated objects from over 450 distinct publications. Almost 70% of this sample is comprised of stars observed in the past decade that have not been considered in previous statistical studies. We estimate the ages of the cataloged stars, model the distributions of their periods, mass ratios, temperatures, and other quantities, and compare them with the data from the Catalina Real-Time Transient Survey, LAMOST, and Gaia archives. As only a small fraction of the sample has radial-velocity curves, we examine the reliability of the photometric mass ratios in totally and partially eclipsing systems and find that totally eclipsing W UMa stars with photometric mass ratios have the same parameter distributions as those with spectroscopic mass ratios. Most of the stars with reliable parameters have mass ratios below 0.5 and orbital periods shorter than 0.5 days. Stars with longer periods and temperatures above 7000K stand out as outliers and should not be labeled W UMa binaries.

- The Compiled Catalogue (CC) is a photometric and astrometric survey with the center at (RA, DE)_J2000 = (3.86h, 34.6{deg}) and radius of 10 degrees of a nearby region of star formation including the Per OB2 association. The CC is based on recently published astronomical catalogues, e.g. Hipparcos and Tycho-2, and supplemented by relevant astrophysical data from numerous data sources. The CC is complete down to V=11.6mag, in general, and to V=18.5mag in the one square degree field with the IC 348 cluster. The coordinates and proper motions are reduced to the Hipparcos system and the photometry in the Johnson system. Typical accuracies of 1-20mas for coordinates, 1-3mas/yr for proper motions, 0.01-0.05mag for BV magnitudes were achieved for majority of 29452 CC stars (V<12mag). For a large number of stars we also collected parallaxes and spectral classes (about 7000 stars), the R (about 2000 stars), I, J, H, K (about 500 stars) magnitudes, radial velocities (330 stars). Stars in the Compiled Catalogue are sorted in right ascension order.
