MAST-produced spectral container files for STIS spectra. STIS
spectra range from 1150 to 10,300 at low to medium spectral resolution, high
spatial resolution echelle spectroscopy in the ultraviolet. STIS began
operation in 1997. (Note the included echelle spectra are technically not
yet supported by the SSAP.)

Description:
A compilation of 1D reference spectra of stars and galaxies. Spectra from several archives and libraries have been collected, re-documented and re-formatted. The spectral resolution is between R=100 and 250000. Some spectra give the physical flux, either or not corrected for the Galactic extinction, and some others are normalized to the pseudo-continuum. Some are given in physical units, and some are momalized to some particular wavelengths (often 5500 A).
IUE (International Ultraviolet Explorer) performed UV spectrophotometry at resolutions of 0.2 and 6 Angstroms from 1150 to 3350 Angstroms, acquiring more than 104000 spectra of some 9600 objects.
The Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) was the world's first true orbiting infrared observatory. Equipped with four highly-sophisticated and versatile scientific instruments, it was launched by Ariane in November 1995 and provided astronomers world-wide with a facility of unprecedented sensitivity and capabilities for a detailed exploration of the Universe at infrared wavelengths. The two spectrometers (SWS and LWS), a camera (ISOCAM) and an imaging photo-polarimeter (ISOPHOT) jointly covered wavelengths from 2.5 to around 240 microns with spatial resolutions ranging from 1.5 arcseconds (at the shortest wavelengths) to 90 arcseconds (at the longer wavelengths). Its 60 cm diameter telescope was cooled by superfluid liquid helium to temperatures of 2-4 K.
The INTEGRAL Bright Source Catalog is based on publicly available data from the two main instruments (IBIS and SPI) on board INTEGRAL (see Winkler et al. 2003, A&A, 411, L1 for a description of the INTEGRAL spacecraft and instrument packages). INTEGRAL began collecting data in October 2002. This catalog will be regularly updated as data become public (~14 months after they are obtained). The Bright Source Catalog is a collaborative effort between the INTEGRAL Science Data Center (ISDC) in Switzerland and the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) INTEGRAL Guest Observer Facility (GOF). The results presented here are a result of a semi-automated analysis and they should be considered as approximate: they are intended to serve as a guideline to those interested in pursuing more detailed follow-up analyses. The data from the imager ISGRI (Lebrun et al. 2003, A&A, 411, L141) have been analyzed at the INTEGRAL Science Data Centre (ISDC), while the SPI (Vedrenne et al. 2003, A&A, 411, L63) data analysis was performed at GSFC as a service of the INTEGRAL GOF. This database table was first created in September 2004.
