- Description:
- In order to increase the limited number of B-stars with accurately known dimensions, and also the number of well studied eclipsing binaries in open clusters, we have undertaken observations and studies of four southern double-lined eclipsing B-type binaries; DW Car, BF Cen, AC Vel, and NSV 5783. Complete uvby light curves were observed between January 1982 and April 1991 at the Danish 0.5m telescope at ESO La Silla, since 1985 known as the Stroemgren Automatic Telescope (SAT). Standard indices for the systems and the comparison stars, as well as additional minima observations for AC Vel, have been obtained later at SAT. For DW Car and AC Vel, high-resolution spectra for definitive spectroscopic orbits have also been obtained; they are presented as part of the detailed analyses of these systems. A few spectra of NSV 5783 are included in the present paper.

- uvby light curves of EF Aqr

- Description:
- Recent studies have shown that stellar chromospheric activity, and its effect on convective energy transport in the envelope, is most likely the cause of significant radius and temperature discrepancies between theoretical evolution models and observations. Accurate mass, radius, and abundance determinations from solar-type binaries exhibiting various levels of activity are needed for a better insight into the structure and evolution of these stars. We aim to determine absolute dimensions and abundances for the solar-type detached eclipsing binary EF Aqr, and to perform a detailed comparison with results from recent stellar evolutionary models.

- Description:
- Accurate uvby light curves of the southern, detached, double-lined eclipsing binary V539 Ara (HR 6622A, HD 161783, V=5.71mag , B3V+B4V, P=3.17d) are presented. They contain 1409 observations in each colour, collected 1982-1984. Typical mean errors are 0.003-0.004mag. Observations for 8 additional times of minima from 1985-1994 are included. The secondary component belongs to the group of slowly pulsating B (or SPB) stars. An analysis of V539 Ara based on the new photometry and the spectroscopic orbit by Andersen (1983A&A...118..255A) is published separately (Clausen 1995).

- Description:
- Table 1 contents 852 simultaneous measurements collected in each of the four uvby colours of the Stromgren photometric system for the eclipsing binary system V2154 Cyg. The data are magnitude differences (Du,Dv,Db,Dy,D(b-y),Dm1,Dc1) of the variable star minus comparison star in the standard system versus Heliocentric Julian Day. The comparison star is HD 204626. The observations were carried out (by E. Rodriguez, J.M. Garcia, S. Martin and A. Claret) through the year 1998 using the 0.90m telescope at Sierra Nevada Observatory, Spain. This telescope is equipped with a six-channel uvby-Hbeta spectrograph photometer for simultaneous measurements in uvby or in the narrow and wide Hbeta channels, respectively.

- uvby photometry and RVs of HD 74057

- Description:
- We have obtained Stromgren b and y differential photometric observations of the solar-type eclipsing binary HD 74057 plus follow-up high-resolution, red wavelength spectroscopic observations. The system has an orbital period of 31.2198 days, a high eccentricity of 0.47, and is seen almost exactly edge on with an inclination of 89.8{deg}. The two main-sequence G0 stars are nearly identical in all physical characteristics. We used the Wilson-Devinney program to obtain a simultaneous solution of our photometric and spectroscopic observations. The resulting masses of the components are M1=1.138+/-0.003M_{sun}_ and M2=1.131+/-0.003M_{sun}_, and the radii are R1=1.064+/-0.002R_{sun}_ and R2=1.049+/-0.002R_{sun}_. The effective temperatures are 5900K (fixed) and 5843K, and the iron abundance, [Fe/H], is estimated to be +0.07. A comparison with evolutionary tracks suggests that the system may be even more metal rich. The components rotate with periods of 8.4 days, significantly faster than the predicted pseudosynchronous period of 12.7days. We see evidence that one or both components have cool spots. Both stars are close to the zero-age main sequence and are about 1.0Gyr old.

- Description:
- Table 1 contents 1313 simultaneous measurements collected in each of the four uvby colours of the Stromgren photometric system for the semi-detached Algol-type eclipsing binary system AB Cas, where the primary component is a Delta Scuti-type pulsator. The data are magnitude differences (Du, Dv, Db, Dy, D(b-y), Dm1, Dc1) of the variable star minus comparison star in the standard system versus Heliocentric Julian Date. The comparison star is HD 14836. The origin in time is the Julian Day 2451108. The observations were carried out by the authors through the years 1998 and 1999 using the 0.90m telescope at Sierra Nevada Observatory, Spain. This telescope is equipped with a six-channel uvby-H{beta} spectrograph photometer for simultaneous measurements in uvby or in the narrow and wide H{beta} channels, respectively.

- uvby photometry of BH Vir
- Short Name:
- J/A+AS/123/59

- Publisher:
- CDS
- Description:
- This paper presents new complete uvby light curves of the late-type detached eclipsing binary BH Vir (G0V + G5V, P=0.81687099d). This binary system has been observed during four campaigns at the Calar Alto Observatory (Almeria, Spain) and at the European Southern Observatory (La Silla, Chile). This observations are part of a 6 year uvby and H{beta} monitoring program of low mass eclipsing binaries which main objective is to provide accurate absolute astrophysical parameters for late-type main sequence stars. 1585 points spreaded over the binary period and covering both eclipses are given. The internal accuracy of the standard photometry measured as the mean RMS of the differences between standard value and observed value for the standard stars observed along the program is quoted in a few millimagnitudes. Detailed analysis of BH Vir, based on these light curves, will be published separately.

- Description:
- Accurate mass, radius, and abundance determinations from binaries provide important information on stellar evolution, fundamental to central fields in modern astrophysics and cosmology. Within the long-term Copenhagen Binary Project, we aim to obtain high-quality light curves and standard photometry for double-lined detached eclipsing binaries with late A, F, and G type main-sequence components, needed for the determination of accurate absolute dimensions and abundances, and for detailed comparisons with results from recent stellar evolutionary models. Between March 1985 and July 2007, we carried out photometric observations of AD Boo, HW CMa, SW CMa, V636 Cen, VZ Hya, and WZ Oph at the Stromgren Automatic Telescope at ESO, La Silla. We obtained complete uvby light curves, ephemerides, and standard uvby{beta} indices for all six systems.

- uvby photometry of four MC eclipsing binaries
- Short Name:
- J/A+A/402/509
- Date:

- Publisher:

- Description:
- We present new accurate CCD uvby light curves for the LMC eclipsing binaries HV 982 and HV 12578, and for the SMC systems HV 1433 and HV 11284 obtained at the Danish 1.5m telescope at ESO, La Silla, equipped with a direct camera and CCD #28 (a thinned 1024x1024 Tek device), during several periods between November 1992 and November 1995. The light curves were derived from DoPHOT photometry, and typical accuracies are between 0.007 and 0.012mag per point. Standard uvby indices have also been established for each binary, primarily for determination of interstellar reddening and absorption. For HV 982 and HV 12578, accurate photometric elements have been established. Both systems consist of two detached components of comparable sizes in an eccentric orbit.
