- Michigan Catalogue of HD stars, Vol.5
- Short Name:
- III/214
- Date:
- 21 Oct 2021
- Publisher:
- CDS
- Description:
- This volume of the catalog contains all HD stars in the declination range -12 degrees up to and including +05 degrees (equinox 1900) and is part of a series of catalogs in the University of Michigan program of systematic reclassification in the MK system of the entire "Henry Draper Catalogue" (HD). The stars were classified visually on objective-prism plates taken with the Michigan Curtis Schmidt telescope at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory. The 4{deg} + 6{deg} prisms yield a dispersion at H_{gamma}_ of 108 {AA}/mm, and the average resolution is about 2 {AA}/mm, comparable to that of the original MK system [MKK]. The spectra were taken on IIaO plates and widened to 0.8 mm, with 20min, 4min, and 1min exposures being obtained. In order to maintain a uniform, consistent system, all the spectral classification was done by one person (Houk). It is recommended that users read the accompanying text (preface.tex) before utilizing the catalogue in order to take full advantage of its contents and to learn the notation and practices followed.

- MK Classification Extension
- Short Name:
- III/78
- Date:

- Publisher:
- CDS
- Description:
- The catalog provides classifications on the Morgan-Keenan (MK) system published in the literature since the appearance of the La Plata catalog (Jaschek et al., 1964). In addition to the MK types, the catalog contains, for REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY, UBV photometry, some component identifications for multiple systems, and miscellaneous remarks, e.g., cluster membership, although this information is not professed to be complete. A second file of the machine version contains the bibliographical references cited in the data file and indicates classifications done by objective-prism techniques (OP) or from photometric studies (PHOT). Note that extragalactic stars (e.g. in LMC, SMC) are not included.

- Title:
- MK Classification for HD stars for 25-30{deg} zone
- Short Name:
- III/75B
- Date:
- 21 Oct 2021
- Publisher:
- CDS
- Description:
- The catalog contains MK spectral classifications for 1003 HD stars in the zone +25-30{deg}, briefly presented at IAU Colloq. 47, held in Vatican City in July 1978 (1979RA......9..479C). Most stars classified in this region are earlier than G2. The notation is the same as in the earlier paper (1981A&AS...45..455J), with conventions similar to the Houk and Cowley survey (Cats. III/31 and III/51); a noticeable exception is that the luminosity class the most probable stands before the slash. On the average, the classifications present in the catalogue are means of 3 classifications. The internal rms error estimated by the author on a single classification is typically: {sigma}(SpT) = 0.65 (unit 1 subtype) {sigma}(Lum) = 0.40 (unit lum. class) No dependence on spectrum quality is found; however the quality 4 spectra are seldom classified without slashes (which introduces a sort of "internal scatter" into the type) External errors were estimated by a comparison with published work: - Walborn (1971ApJS...23..257W) and Guetter (1968PASP...80..197G) concern early-B stars; - Cowley et al. (1969AJ.....74..375C) and Osawa (1959ApJ...130..159O) concern late-B and A stars; - Harlan et al. (1969AJ.....74..916H, 1970AJ.....75..165H), Hill et al. (1976MmRAS..82...69H) and Heard (1956PDDO....2..105H) concern F stars; - Fehrenbach lists concern all type stars. The comparisons give the following external errors: ----------------------------------------------------- Source N D(SpT) +/- D(Lum) +/- ----------------------------------------------------- Walborn (1971) 5 -.40 +/- .45 -.10 +/- .32 Guetter (1968) 4 -.12 +/- .25 -.12 +/- .25 Cowley et al. 17 -.52 +/- .72 -.09 +/- .53 Osawa (1959) 18 -.22 +/- .77 -.22 +/- .77 Harlan et al. 20 +.20 +/- .69 +.03 +/- .56 Hill et al. 18 -.36 +/- .78 -.19 +/- .55 Heard (1956) 46 -.24 +/- .88 +.10 +/- .47 Fehrenbach et al. 46 +.48 +/-1.39 +.34 +/-1.06 ----------------------------------------------------- These figures should be compared with e.g. Heck and Mersch (1980A&A....83..287H, 1980A&A....85...93M), Cowley et al. (1969AJ.....74..375C), Cowley (1976PASP...88...95C), or Abt (1981ApJS...45..437A)

- MK Classification for OB Stars
- Short Name:
- III/23B
- Date:
- 21 Oct 2021
- Publisher:
- CDS
- Description:
- The catalog is a compilation of MK spectral types published in the paper, "The kinematics of the Gould Belt: An Expanding Group?" (Rountree Lesh 1968). Spectral types were determined for 464 stars of Henry Draper type B5 and earlier, brighter than 6.5 visual magnitude and higher than -20 degrees in declination. The spectra were classified by the author using plates taken with the Yerkes 40-inch refractor and MK spectrograph. The catalog contains HR, HD numbers, MK types with temperature classes, subclasses, luminosity classes and peculiarities, and remarks.

- MK Classification in NGC 2175
- Short Name:
- III/253
- Date:
- 21 Oct 2021
- Publisher:
- CDS
- Description:
- The results of the spectral classification of 1224 O-M stars of different luminosity classes in the region of NGC 2175 and around it are presented. The classification has been carried out on the basis of low dispersion objective prism spectra. Using the B-V and U-B data for 106 stars out of 1224 the MK classification has been done with the photometric Q-method.

- MK Classification of Bright Star Supplement
- Short Name:
- J/ApJS/155/175
- Date:
- 21 Oct 2021
- Publisher:
- CDS
- Description:
- MK spectral types are given for about 584 stars in "A Supplement to the Bright Star Catalogue" (Hoffleit et al., 1983, Cat. V/36). The spectra were obtained at Kitt Peak in 1983 on Eastman IIaO emulsions, 15% with the Cassegrain spectrograph on the 2.1m telescope and the rest with a Cassegrain spectrograph on the 0.9m telescope. The spectral types are compared with Hipparcos parallaxes to check the reliability of those classifications. The estimated errors are +/-1.2 subtypes, and 10% of the luminosity classes may be wrong.
