- This catalogue contains 2112 new 21-cm neutral hydrogen line measurements carried out with the meridian transit Nancay radiotelescope. Among these data we give also 213 new radial velocities which complement those listed in three previous papers of this series. Table2.dat is the list of corrected astrophysical HI-parameters (name, coordinates, systemic heliocentric velocity, line-width at two levels, log of maximum circular velocity, HI-flux and signal to noise ratio) The folder fig5 contains the files page01.ps, page02.ps ... corresponding to Figure 5, i.e. the HI-profiles of the galaxies listed in table2.dat.

- We have developed a new needlet-based method to detect point sources in cosmic microwave background (CMB) maps and have applied it to the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) 7 year data. We use both the individual frequency channels as well as internal templates, the latter being the difference between pairs of frequency channels and hence having the advantage that the CMB component is eliminated. Using the area of the sky outside the Kq85 galactic mask, we detect a total of 2102 point sources at the 5{sigma} level in either the frequency maps or the internal templates. Of these, 1116 are detected either at 5{sigma} directly in the frequency channels or at 5{sigma} in the internal templates and >=3{sigma} at the corresponding position in the frequency channels. Of the 1116 sources, 603 are detections that have not been reported so far in WMAP data. We have made a catalog of these sources available with position and flux estimated in the WMAP channels where they are seen. In total, we identified 1029 of the 1116 sources with counterparts at 5GHz and 69 at other frequencies.

- We present a new sample of 84 large angular size radio galaxies selected from the NRAO VLA Sky Survey. Radio sources with declination above +60{deg}, total flux density greater than 100mJy at 1.4GHz and angular size larger than 4' have been selected and observed with the VLA at 1.4 and 4.9GHz. The radio observations attempt to confirm the large angular size sources and to isolate the core emission for optical identification. In this paper, the first of a series of three, we present radio maps of 79 sources from the sample and discuss the effects of the selection criteria in the final sample. 37 radio galaxies belong to the class of giants, of which 22 are reported in this paper for the first time.

- Most radio galaxies are hosted by giant gas-poor ellipticals, but some contain significant amounts of dust, which is likely to be of external origin. In order to characterize the mid-IR properties of two of the most nearby and brightest merger-remnant radio galaxies of the Southern hemisphere, NGC 1316 (Fornax A) and NGC 612 (PKS 0131-36), we used observations with the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) at wavelengths of 3.4, 4.6, 12 and 22 micron and Spitzer mid-infrared spectra. By applying a resolution-enhancement technique, new WISE images were produced at angular resolutions ranging from 2.6" to 5.5". Global measurements were performed in the four WISE bands, and stellar masses and star-formation rates were estimated using published scaling relations. Two methods were used to uncover the distribution of dust, one relying on two-dimensional fits to the 3.4 micron images to model the starlight, and the other one using a simple scaling and subtraction of the 3.4 micron images to estimate the stellar continuum contribution to the emission in the 12 and 22 micron bands. The two galaxies differ markedly in their mid-IR properties. The 3.4 micron brightness distribution can be well represented by the superposition of two Sersic models in NGC 1316 and by a Sersic model and an exponential disk in NGC 612. The WISE colors of NGC 1316 are typical of those of early-type galaxies; those of NGC 612 are in the range found for star-forming galaxies. From the 22 micron luminosity, we infer a star-formation rate of about 0.7 solar masses per year in NGC 1316 and about 7 solar masses per year in NGC 612. Spitzer spectroscopy shows that the 7.7-to-11.3 micron PAH line ratio is significantly lower in NGC 1316 than in NGC 612. The WISE images reveal resolved emission from dust in the central 1'-2' of the galaxies. In NGC 1316, the extra-nuclear emission coincides with two dusty regions NW and SE of the nucleus seen in extinction in optical images and where molecular gas is known to reside. In NGC 612 it comes from a warped disk. This suggests a recent infall onto NGC 1316 and disruption of one or several smaller gas-rich galaxies, but a smoother accretion in NGC 612. While the nucleus of NGC 1316 is currently dormant and the galaxy is likely to evolve into a passive elliptical, NGC 612 has the potential of growing a larger disk and sustaining an active nucleus. NGC 1316 and NGC 612 represent interesting challenges to models of formation and evolution of galaxies and AGNs.

- We present new continuum VLA observations of the nearby Sy 1.5 galaxy NGC 5033, made at 4.9- and 8.4-GHz on 2003 April 8. Combined with VLA archival observations at 1.4- and 4.9-GHz made on 1993 August 7, 1999 August 29 and 1999 October 31, we sample the galaxy radio emission at scales ranging from the nuclear regions (<100pc) to the outer regions of the disc (~40kpc). The high-resolution VLA images show a corejet structure for the Sy 1.5 nucleus.

- Cosmic rays play a pivotal role in launching galactic winds, particularly in quiescently star-forming galaxies where the hot gas alone is not sufficient to drive a wind. Except for the Milky Way, not much is known about the transport of cosmic rays in galaxies. In this Letter, we present low-frequency observations of the nearby edge-on spiral galaxy NGC 4565 using the LOw-Frequency ARray (LOFAR). With our deep 144-MHz observations, we obtain a clean estimate of the emission originating from old cosmic-ray electrons (CRe), which is almost free from contamination by thermal emission. We measured vertical profiles of the non-thermal radio continuum emission that we fitted with Gaussian and exponential functions. The different profile shapes correspond to 1D cosmic-ray transport models of pure diffusion and advection, respectively. We detect a warp in the radio continuum that is reminiscent of the previously known HI warp. Because the warp is not seen at GHz-frequencies in the radio continuum, its minimum age must be about 100Myr. The warp also explains the slight flaring of the thick radio disc that can otherwise be well described by a Gaussian profile with an FWHM of 65-arcsec (3.7kpc). The diffusive radio halo together with the extra-planar X-ray emission may be remnants of enhanced star-forming activity in the past where the galaxy had a galactic wind, as GHz-observations indicate only a weak outflow in the last 40Myr. NGC 4565 could be in transition from an outflow- to an inflow-dominated phase.

- We present positions and velocities for 796 planetary nebulae (PNe) in the Fornax Brightest Cluster Galaxy NGC 1316 (Fornax A). The planetary nebulae and existing kinematics are used to explore the rotation of this merger remnant and constrain dynamical models. Using FORS2 on the VLT, the PN velocities were measured using a counter-dispersed slitless-spectroscopy technique that produced the largest-to-date sample outside of the Local Group. Spherical, non-rotating, constant-anisotropy Jeans models were con- strained by observations of the planetary nebulae and existing integrated light spectra.

- The observation of total and linearly polarized synchrotron radiation of spiral galaxies in the radio continuum reveals the distribution and structure of their magnetic fields. By observing these, information about the proposed dynamo processes that preserve the large-scale magnetic fields in spiral galaxies can be gained. Additionally, by analyzing the synchrotron intensity, the transport processes of cosmic rays into the halo of edge-on spiral galaxies can be investigated. We analyze the magnetic field geometry and the transport processes of the cosmic rays of the edge-on spiral starburst galaxy NGC 4666 from CHANG-ES radio data in two frequencies; 6 GHz (C-band) and 1.5 GHz (L-band). Supplementary X-ray data are used to investigate the hot gas in NGC 4666. We determine the radio scale heights of total power emission at both frequencies for this galaxy. We show the magnetic field orientations derived from the polarization data. Using rotation measure (RM) synthesis we further study the behavior of the RM values along the disk in C-band to investigate the large-scale magnetic-field pattern. We use the revised equipartition formula to calculate a map of the magnetic field strength. Furthermore, we model the processes of cosmic-ray transport into the halo with the 1D SPINNAKER model. The extended radio halo of NGC 4666 is box-shaped and is probably produced by the previously observed supernova-driven superwind. This is supported by our finding of an advective cosmic-ray transport such as that expected for a galactic wind. The scaleheight analysis revealed an asymmetric halo above and below the disk as well as between the two sides of the major axis. A central point source as well as a bubble structure is seen in the radio data for the first time. Our X-ray data show a box-shaped hot halo around NGC 4666 and furthermore confirm the AGN nature of the central source. NGC 4666 has a large-scale X-shaped magnetic field in the halo, as has been observed in other edge-on galaxies. The analysis furthermore revealed that the disk of NGC 4666 shows hints of field reversals along its radius, which is the first detection of this phenomenon in an external galaxy.

- The host galaxies of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) have been claimed to have experienced a recent inflow of gas from the intergalactic medium. This is because their atomic gas distribution is not centred on their optical emission and because they are deficient in molecular gas given their high star-formation rates. Similar studies have not been conducted for host galaxies of relativistic supernovae (SNe), which may have similar progenitors. The potential similarity of the powering mechanisms of relativistic SNe and GRBs allowed us to make a prediction that relativistic SNe are born in environments similar to those of GRBs, i.e. rich in atomic gas. Here we embark on testing this hypothesis by analysing the properties of the host galaxy NGC 3278 of the relativistic SN 2009bb. This is the first time the atomic gas properties of a relativistic SN host is analysed and the first time resolved 21cm hydrogen line (HI) information is provided for a host of a SN of any type. We obtained radio observations with Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) covering HI line; and optical integral field unit spectroscopy observations with Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE) at the Very Large Telescope (VLT). Moreover, we analysed archival carbon monoxide (CO) and broad-band data for this galaxy. The atomic gas distribution of NGC3278 is not centred on the optical galaxy centre, but instead around a third of atomic gas resides in the region close to the SN position. This galaxy has a few times lower atomic and molecular gas masses than predicted from its star formation rate (SFR). Its specific star formation rate (sSFR=SFR/M*) is ~2-3 times higher than the main-sequence value, placing it at the higher end of the main sequence towards starburst galaxies. SN 2009bb exploded close to the region with the highest SFR density and the lowest age, as evident from high Halpha EW, corresponding to the age of the stellar population of ~5.5Myr. Assuming this timescale was the lifetime of the progenitor star, its initial mass would have been close to ~36M_{sun}_. As for GRB hosts, the gas properties of NGC3278 are consistent with a recent inflow of gas from the intergalactic medium, which explains the concentration of atomic gas close to the SN position and the enhanced SFR. Super-solar metallicity at the position of the SN (unlike for most of GRBs) may mean that relativistic explosions signal a recent inflow of gas (and subsequent star-formation), and their type (GRBs or SNe) is determined by either i) the metallicity of the inflowing gas (metal-poor gas results in a GRB explosion and metal-rich gas in a relativistic SN explosion without an accompanying GRB), or ii) by the efficiency of gas mixing (efficient mixing for SN hosts leading to quick disappearance of metal-poor regions), or iii) by the type of the galaxy (more metal-rich galaxies would result in only a small fraction of star-formation to be fuelled by metal-poor gas).

- We present a modified optical luminosity-HI mass bivariate luminosity function (BLF) based on HI line observations from the Nancay Interstellar Baryons Legacy Extragalactic Survey (NIBLES), including data from our new, four times more sensitive follow-up HI line observations obtained with the Arecibo radio telescope. The follow-up observations were designed to probe the underlying HI mass distribution of the NIBLES galaxies that were undetected or marginally detected in HI at the Radio Telescope. Our total follow-up sample consists of 234 galaxies, and it spans the entire luminosity and color range of the parent NIBLES sample of 2600 nearby (900<cz<12000km/s) SDSS galaxies. We incorporated the follow-up data into the bivariate analysis by scaling the NIBLES undetected fraction by an Arecibo-only distribution. We find the resulting increase in low HI mass-to-light ratio densities to be about 10% for the bins -1.0<=log(M/L)<=-0.5, which produces an increased HI mass function (HIMF) low mass slope of {alpha}=-1.14+/-0.07, being slightly shallower than the values of -1.35+/-0.05 obtained by recent blind HI surveys. Applying the same correction to the optically corrected bivariate luminosity function from our previous paper produces a larger density increase of about 0.5 to 1dex in the lowest HI mass-to-light ratio bins for a given luminosity while having a minimal effect on the resulting HIMF low mass slope, which still agrees with blind survey HIMFs. This indicates that while low HI-mass-to-light ratio galaxies do not contribute much to the one-dimensional HIMF, their inclusion has a significant impact on the densities in the two-dimensional distribution.
