- To continue our study on chromospheric activity and detection for possible prominence events of the very active RS Canum Venaticorum star SZ Piscium (SZ Psc), long-term high-resolution spectroscopic observations were obtained during several observing runs from 2014 to 2018. Based on the spectral subtraction technique, the chromospheric emission of the CaII IRT ({lambda}8662, {lambda}8542, and {lambda}8498), H_{alpha}_, NaI D_1_, D_2_ doublet, H_{beta}_, and CaII H & K lines is mainly associated with the K1 IV primary star of the SZ Psc system, in good agreement with the previous studies, and the F8 V secondary star also shows some chromospheric emission, implying its active chromosphere. Moreover, an optical flare characterized by the HeI D3 line emission together with stronger emission in the other indicators was detected. Furthermore, two chromospheric active longitudes around the two quadratures of the system were identified for most of the time, and the chromospheric activity shows significant changes during a few orbital cycles. The chromospheric activity level seems to show a long-term variation during our observations. There were some excess absorption features in the subtracted H{alpha} line and the other activity indicators, which would be caused by prominence-like materials associated with the K1 IV primary star of the system. Prominence materials could absorb the chromospheric emission and continuum from the K1 IV primary star and even the F8 V secondary one.

- The catalog contains 206 spectroscopic binary systems with at least one late-type component that shows Ca II H and K emission in its spectrum. These systems include the classical RS CVn binaries and BY Dra binaries. The catalog summarizes information on the photometric, spectroscopic, orbital, and physical properties of the systems as well as space motions and positions. Up to 42 "parameters" for each stellar system are listed followed by the appropriate reference to direct interested colleagues to the original papers. A comprehensive selection of further information for each star is given in the individual notes. In addition, the catalog contains a candidate list of 138 stars that have similar characteristics but are not definitely known binaries or have not had Ca II H and K emission observed. This version updates and replaces the 1988 catalog of similar information. (Strassmeier et al., 1988).

The sample is heterogeneous with different orbits and physically different components from F to M spectral-type main-sequence stars to G and K giants and supergiants. The computed U, V, W space velocities indicate that the sample is also heterogeneous in velocity space.

- In this paper we report the results of the spectroscopic survey we carried out to detect chromospheric activity of late-type stars in the fields of view of the CoRoT space mission. We give an accurate MK classification of all targets, which is valuable information on both the main CoRoT project and additional science programs, by means of cross-correlation with MK standard stars, by using artificial neural networks. The presence or absence of excess H{alpha} emission, determined using spectral subtraction technique, is used to characterize the chromospheric activity level. In most cases our MK classification agrees with the spectral classification reported in the SIMBAD database; however, there are a few stars that are found to have very different MK classes. Our survey reveals that ~7% of late-type stars in our sample indeed possess a very active chromosphere. The measured H{alpha} excess and the presence of the 6708{AA}, Li line allow us to confirm the membership of 5 targets in the young open cluster NGC 2264.

- A large sample of over 38000 chromospherically active candidate solar-like stars and cooler dwarfs from the RAVE survey is addressed in this paper. An improved activity identification with respect to the previous study was introduced to build a catalog of field stars in the solar neighborhood with an excess emission flux in the calcium infrared triplet wavelength region. The central result of this work is the calibration of the age-activity relation for main-sequence dwarfs in a range from a few 10Myr up to a few Gyr. It enabled an order of magnitude age estimation of the entire active sample. Almost 15000 stars are shown to be younger than 1Gyr and ~2000 younger than 100Myr. The young age of the most active stars is confirmed by their position off the main sequence in the J-K versus N_UV_-V diagram showing strong ultraviolet excess, mid-infrared excess in the J-K versus W_1_-W_2_ diagram, and very cool temperatures (J-K>0.7). They overlap with the reference pre-main-sequence RAVE stars often displaying X-ray emission. The activity level increasing with the color reveals their different nature from the solar-like stars and probably represents an underlying dynamo-generating magnetic fields in cool stars. Of the RAVE objects from DR5, 50% are found in the TGAS catalog and supplemented with accurate parallaxes and proper motions by Gaia. This makes the database of a large number of young stars in a combination with RAVE's radial velocities directly useful as a tracer of the very recent large-scale star formation history in the solar neighborhood.

- We present chromospheric CaII H and K activity measurements, rotation periods, and ages for ~1200 F, G, K, and M type main-sequence stars from ~18000 archival spectra taken at Keck and Lick Observatories as a part of the California and Carnegie Planet Search Project. We have calibrated our chromospheric S-values against the Mount Wilson chromospheric activity data. From these measurements we have calculated median activity levels and derived R'_HK_, stellar ages, and rotation periods from general parameterizations for 1228 stars, ~1000 of which have no previously published S-values. We also present precise time series of activity measurements for these stars.

- More than 800 southern stars within 50pc have been observed for chromospheric emission in the cores of the Ca II H and K lines. Most of the sample targets were selected to be G dwarfs on the basis of colors and spectral types. The bimodal distribution in stellar activity first noted in a sample of northern stars by Vaughan and Preston (1980PASP...92..385V) is confirmed, and the percentage of active stars, about 30%, is remarkably consistent between the northern and southern surveys. This is especially compelling given that we have used an entirely different instrumental setup and stellar sample than used in the previous study. Comparisons to the Sun, a relatively inactive star, show that most nearby solar-type stars have a similar activity level, and presumably a similar age. We identify two additional subsamples of stars -- a very active group, and a very inactive group. The very active group may be made up of young stars near the Sun, accounting for only a few percent of the sample, and appears to be less than ~0.1Gyr old. Included in this high-activity tail of the distribution, however, is a subset of very close binaries of the RS CVn or W UMa types. The remaining members of this population may be undetected close binaries or very young single stars. The very inactive group of stars, contributing ~5%-10% to the total sample, may be those caught during a Maunder Minimum type phase. If the observations of the survey stars are considered to be a sequence of snapshots of the Sun during its life, we might expect that the Sun will spend about 10% of the remainder of its main sequence life in a Maunder Minimum phase.

- Of a total of 177 cool G, K and M giants and supergiants, we measured the MgII h+k line emission of extended chromospheres in high-resolution (LWR) International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) spectra by using the IUE final data archive at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) and derived the respective stellar surface fluxes. They represent the chromospheric radiative energy losses presumably related to basal heating by the dissipation of acoustic waves, plus a highly variable contribution due to magnetic activity.
