- This table contains the first catalog of high-confidence gamma-ray sources detected by the AGILE satellite during observations performed from July 9, 2007 to June 30, 2008. Cataloged sources were detected by merging all the available data over the entire time period. AGILE, launched in April 2007, is an Italian Space Agency (ASI) mission devoted to gamma-ray observations in the 30 MeV - 50 GeV energy range, with simultaneous X-ray imaging capability in the 18 - 60 keV band. This catalog is based on Gamma-Ray Imaging Detector (GRID) data for energies greater than 100 MeV. For the first AGILE catalog, the authors adopted a conservative analysis, with a high-quality event filter optimized to select gamma-ray events within the central zone of the instrument field of view (radius of 40 degrees). This is a significance-limited (4-sigma) catalog, and it is not a complete flux-limited sample due to the non-uniform first-year AGILE sky coverage. The catalog includes 47 sources, 21 of which are associated with confirmed or candidate pulsars, 13 with blazars (7 flat-spectrum radio quasars [FSRQ], 4 BL Lacs, 2 unknown type), 2 with HMXRBs, 2 with SNRs, 1 with a colliding-wind binary system, and 8 with unidentified sources. This table was created by the HEASARC in March 2010 based on <a href="https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/ftp/cats/J/A+A/506/1563">CDS catalog J/A+A/506/1563</a> file table3.dat. - With new CCD observations of the W UMa type binary IK Boo, we present the first investigation of photometric parameters and orbital period change. The BVRc light curve fit shows that IK Boo is a W-type contact system with a mass ratio of q=1.146 and a shallow contact with a fill-out factor of f=2.22%. The orbital period decrease is found at a rate of -3.28x10^-7^d/yr, corresponding to a mass transfer from the more massive to the less massive component with a rate of -2.83x10^-6^M_{sun}/yr. The inner and outer critical Roche lobes will contract and cause the contact degree to increase. Therefore, IK Boo may evolve into a deeper contact system. Furthermore, a possible cyclic variation is found to have a period of 9.74yr, that could be explained by the light-travel time effect, due to the existence of a third companion in the system.

- We selected from the VLA FIRST survey a sample of 94 objects with star-like counterparts in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), and with APM POSS-I colour O-E>=2, i.e. consistent with their being high-redshift quasars. 78 of the 94 candidates can be classified spectroscopically on the basis of either published data (mainly SDSS) or the observations presented here. The fractions of QSOs (51 out of 78) and redshift z>3 QSOs (23 out of 78, 29 per cent) are comparable to those found in other photometric searches for high-redshift QSOs. We confirm that selecting colour O-E>=2 ensures inclusion of all QSOs with 3.7<=z<=4.4. The fraction of 2<=z<=4.4 QSOs with broad absorption lines (BALs) is 27+/-10 per cent (7/26) and the estimated BAL fraction for radio-loud QSOs is at least as high as for optically selected QSOs (~13 per cent). Both the high BAL fraction and the high fraction of low-ionization BALs among BALs (four to five out of seven) in our sample, compared to previous work, are likely due to the red colour selection O-E>=2.

- We describe a program to identify optical counterparts to radio sources from the VLA FIRST survey using the Cambridge APM scans of the POSS-I plates. We use radio observations covering 4150deg^2^ of the north Galactic cap to a 20cm flux density threshold of 1.0mJy; the 382,892 sources detected all have positional uncertainties of <1" (radius of 90% confidence). Our description of the APM catalog, derived from the 148 POSS-I O and E plates covering this region, includes an assessment of its astrometric and photometric accuracy, a photometric recalibration using the Minnesota APS catalog, a discussion of the classification algorithm, and quantitative tests of the catalog's reliability and completeness. We go on to show how the use of FIRST sources as astrometric standards allows us to improve the absolute astrometry of the POSS plates by nearly an order of magnitude to ~0.15" rms. Matching the radio and optical catalogs yields counterparts for over 70,000 radio sources; we include detailed discussions of the reliability and completeness of these identifications as a function of optical and radio morphology, optical magnitude and color, and radio flux density. An analysis of the problem of radio sources with complex morphologies (e.g., double-lobed radio galaxies) is included. We conclude with a brief discussion of the source classes represented among the radio sources with identified counterparts.

- We present ground-based spectroscopic verification of 6 Y dwarfs (see also Cushing et al., 2011ApJ...743...50C), 89 T dwarfs, 8 L dwarfs, and 1 M dwarf identified by the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). Eighty of these are cold brown dwarfs with spectral types >=T6, six of which have been announced earlier by Mainzer et al. (2011ApJ...726...30M) and Burgasser et al. (2011ApJ...735..116B). We present color-color and color-type diagrams showing the locus of M, L, T, and Y dwarfs in WISE color space. Near-infrared and, in a few cases, optical spectra are presented for these discoveries. Near-infrared classifications as late as early Y are presented and objects with peculiar spectra are discussed. Using these new discoveries, we are also able to extend the optical T dwarf classification scheme from T8 to T9. After deriving an absolute WISE 4.6um (W2) magnitude versus spectral type relation, we estimate spectrophotometric distances to our discoveries. We also use available astrometric measurements to provide preliminary trigonometric parallaxes to four of our discoveries, which have types of L9 pec (red), T8, T9, and Y0; all of these lie within 10pc of the Sun. The Y0 dwarf, WISE 1541-2250, is the closest at 2.8^+1.3^_-0.6_pc; if this 2.8pc value persists after continued monitoring, WISE 1541-2250 will become the seventh closest stellar system to the Sun. Another 10 objects, with types between T6 and >Y0, have spectrophotometric distance estimates also placing them within 10pc. The closest of these, the T6 dwarf WISE 1506+7027, is believed to fall at a distance of ~4.9pc. WISE multi-epoch positions supplemented with positional info primarily from the Spitzer/Infrared Array Camera allow us to calculate proper motions and tangential velocities for roughly one-half of the new discoveries.

- Eleven lists of blue stellar objects (BSOs) found in the First Byurakan Survey (FBS) low-dispersion spectroscopic plates were published in the journal Astrophysics in the period 1990-1996, The selection was carried out in the region with declinations +33 deg. < delta < +45 deg. and delta > +61 degrees with a surface area of 4000 square degrees. As a result, the present catalog of the FBS blue stellar objects (BSOs) has been compiled. Its preliminary version has been available at CDS since 1999. The author has revised and updated the FBS BSOs catalog with the new data from recently published optical and multi-wavelength catalogs to give access to all available data and make further comparative studies of the properties of these objects possible. The author has made cross-correlations of the FBS BSOs catalog with the MAPS , USNO-B1.0, SDSS, and 2MASS catalogs, as well as with ROSAT, IRAS, NVSS, and FIRST catalogs , added updated SIMBAD and NED data for the objects, and provided accurate DSS1 and DSS2 positions and revised photometry. The author also checked the objects for proper motion and variability. A refined classification for the low-dispersion spectra in the Digitized First Byurakan Survey (DFBS) was carried out. The revised and updated catalog of 1103 FBS blue stellar objects is presented here. (The catalog in fact contains 1101 objects, as 2 pairs of objects turned to be identical; however, the author has kept all objects in the list on order to allow users to enter and find objects by all accepted FBS names). The FBS blue stellar objects catalog can be used to study a complete sample of white dwarfs, hot sub-dwarfs, horizontal-branch B (HBB) stars, cataclysmic variables, bright AGN, and to investigate individual interesting objects. This table was created by the HEASARC in October 2008 based on the CDS table III/258 file fbs.dat. This latter catalog supersedes the previous edition (Abrahamian et al. 1999, <a href="https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/ftp/cats/II/223">CDS Cat. II/223</a>) This is a service provided by NASA HEASARC .

The purpose of the Survey was to search for peculiar faint extragalactic objects with UV-excess radiation and to study them. The procedure of observations and processings, the Survey areas, the object selection and classification criteria and also several selection effects are described. The Catalogue contains the following initial data on all the objects: the precise coordinates, visual magnitudes, angular sizes, redshifts and classification types. The observational results of slit spectra, UBV-photometry, IR-photometry (IRAS data), morphology and some other data are also included into the Catalogue. While compiling the Catalogue the authors introduced some necessary corrections in the data of the earlier published lists on galaxies with UV-continuum. In addition we included the objects with numbers 1501-1515. In most cases they are well-known Seyfert galaxies omitted by the authors in the lists, but detected on the plates. 41 objects from our lists are not included into the Catalogue, since they are either stars of our Galaxy or star projections on the galaxies. The Catalogue presents the largest homogeneous sample of AGN of different types on the northern sky for bright objects (<16.0). Up to the middle of 1987 the redshifts were measured for 1459 out of 1469 objects of the Catalogue.

- The First Byurakan Survey (FBS), also known as the Markarian survey, covers about 17000 sq. deg. It has been used by Markarian and his collaborators to search for UV excess galaxies (see Cat. <VII/172>) and by Abrahamian and his collaborators to search for UV excess or emission line starlike objets. The identification, classification, and investigation of all blue stellar objects in the Survey constitutes the second part of the First Byurakan Survey and is a natural continuation of it. For this second program, at the present time, 4109 sq. deg. have been searched (33 < {delta} < 45 deg and {delta} > 61 deg, excluding the galactic plane) and a catalogue of 1103 blue stellar objects has been built. It has been published in a series of eleven papers referenced in the "References" section below. More details can be found in Mickaelian et al. 1999, Astrofizika 42,5: 'On the nature of the FBS blue stellar objects and the completeness of the Bright Quasar Survey'. Some accurate optical positions were measured by M. Veron, replacing the original FBS position.

As a result, the catalog of the First Byurakan Survey (FBS) Late Type Stars, was compiled. In this catalogue are presented high accurate coordinates, proper motions, spectral, photometric and infrared dates about of 995 FBS late M type and carbon stars. Are given cross-identifications of FBS late type stars with their counterparts from the most popular catalogs (2MASS, USNO-B1, NOMAD, UCAC2, GCVS4.2, NSVS, ASAS, IRAS PS and IRAS FS). On the base of 2MASS (J-K) color indices were determined a luminosity classes for 988 of them. For the 55 stars were determined a spectral classes, and for the another 129 were determined a spectral subclasses on the base of DFBS (http://byurakan.phys.uniroma1.it/) These data were not presented in original lists.

(<a href="https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/ftp/cats/VII/61A">CDS catalog VII/61A</a>). This is a service provided by NASA HEASARC .
