- The catalog is a compilation of all published optical identifications of extragalactic radio sources. This machine-readable version is an updated and greatly expanded edition of the original published one; this version contains 14585 identifications and citations to 917 papers. The data file contains most commonly used source name, number in the 4C catalog Gower et al. (1967), and Pilkington and Scott (1965) if applicable, right ascension and declination (equinox B1950.0), magnitude estimate for the identification type of optical object, identification reference, alternate name for identified object (if known), confirmation or invalidation code and associated reference, finding chart existence (or nonexistence), redshift, and reference for the spectrum. A reference file contains the references ordered by number cited in the catalog and alphabetically by author. Completeness has been attempted for all papers published through the end of 1982. The present version contains fewer references than the 1974 version (which had 935) because certain numbers were unused in the previous edition and because certain references are no longer used in the 1983 version and were removed. The authors have prepared this final version and have discontinued future updates.

- This is an astrometric catalog, providing positions of 89,422 stars in 398 selected fields of extragalactic reference frame sources. The stars are mainly in the 11 to 14 magnitude range. The average positional accuracy is about 50 mas per coordinate at the epoch of observation, which is between 1976.2 and 1991.9. The observations are based on photographic plates, taken with 2 telescopes which are: - the Hamburg Zone astrograph (in the Northern Hemisphere) - the USNO Twin astrograph at Black Birch (New Zealand)

- We have selected a sample of 41 extremely isolated galaxies (EIGs) from the local Universe using both optical and HI Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA survey redshifts. Narrow-band H{alpha} and wide-band imaging along with public data were used to derive star formation rates (SFRs), star formation histories and morphological classifications for the EIGs. We have found that the extreme isolation of the EIGs does not affect considerably their star formation compared to field galaxies. EIGs are typically 'blue cloud' galaxies that fit the 'main sequence of star-forming galaxies' and may show asymmetric star formation and strong compact star-forming regions. We discovered surprising environmental dependences of the HI content, M_HI_, and of the morphological type of EIGs; the most isolated galaxies (of subsample EIG-1) have lower M_HI_ on average (with 2.5{sigma} confidence) and a higher tendency to be early types (with 0.94 confidence) compared to the less isolated galaxies of subsample EIG-2. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study that finds an effect in which an isolated sample shows a higher fraction of early types compared to a less isolated sample. Both early-type and late-type EIGs follow the same colour-to-M_*_, SFR-to-M_*_ (main sequence) and M_HI_-to-M_*_ relations. This indicates that the mechanisms and factors governing star formation, colour and the M_HI_-to-M_*_ relation are similar in early-type and late-type EIGs, and that the morphological type of EIGs is not governed by their M_HI_ content, colour or SFR.

- We present the first results from the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) Grism Parallel Survey, a large program obtaining deep, slitless ACS grism (R~100) spectroscopy of high-latitude HST parallel fields. We identify 601 compact emission-line galaxies at z<=1.6, reaching emission lines to a flux limit of >~5x10^-18^ergs/cm^2^/s (3{sigma}). We determine redshifts by cross-correlation of the target spectra with template spectra, followed by visual inspection. We measure star formation rates from the observed [OII]{lambda}3727, [OIII]{lambda}5007, and H{alpha} line fluxes.

- The North Galactic Pole Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope Catalogue of faint galaxies is made available. We provide positions, photometric and structural parameters for more than 50000 galaxies. The J and F magnitudes were obtained from IIIaJ and IIIaF CFHT prime focus plates respectively. This catalogue have been used in many studies of faint galaxy properties. Galaxy counts, colour distributions and clustering properties of faint galaxies have been obtained with these data. Statistical properties of stars have been studied as well. For details refer to Infante and Pritchet (1992ApJS...83..237I), Pritchet and Infante (1992ApJ...399L..35P), Infante (1994A&A...282..353), Infante (1994A&AS..107..413I) and Infante and Pritchet (1995ApJ...439..565I). The magnitude errors range from: +/-0.3mag at J=24 to less than +/-0.1 at J=20 +/-0.3mag at F=23 to less than +/-0.1 at F=19 The rms uncertainty in the zero points is 0.022 (J) and 0.038 (F)

- We have carried out an extensive survey of faint galaxies in order to examine the rise in the merger rate with redshift and to study the statistical relations between close interacting galaxies and the field galaxy population. In paper I (1997ApJS..108...99D), we present the catalog of faint pairs and groups of galaxies of 46 equatorial fields taken with the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory 4 m prime focus. The data set contains 73,988 galaxies, covering a total area of 2.23deg^2^. We have found 1751 isolated pairs and 30 groups of galaxies within 19 <Rmag<22 and 2"<{theta}<6" in this area. Our results clearly show an increase in pairs and groups of galaxies in comparison with a randomly generated catalog. We have completed the second part of an extensive survey of faint pairs and groups of galaxies in order to study galaxy evolution at intermediate redshifts. In paper II (1997ApJS..110..227D) we present the second catalog of faint interacting galaxies of 49 equatorial fields taken with the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory 4 m prime focus camera. The data set contains 11,297 galaxies within 19<Rmag<22, covering a total area of 2.63deg^2^. We have found 1461 isolated pairs and 30 groups with separations 2"<{theta}<6". Our results confirm the excess of galaxies in pairs and groups found in the first catalog (Infante, de Mello, & Menanteau 1996ApJ...469L..85I; de Mello, Infante, & Menanteau 1997ApJS..108...99D). The two catalogs together cover an area of 4.86deg^2^ in the sky.

- We continue our program of spectroscopic observations of objects from the Second Byurakan Survey (SBS). This survey contains more than 3600 objects with m_pg_<19.5mag, half of them being galaxies and the other half being starlike objects. The aim of this work is to compile a complete sample of faint (B<17) Markarian galaxies. Here we present spectroscopic data for 185 galaxies, obtained with the 6m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory in Russia and the 2.1m telescope of the Guillermo Haro Astrophysical Observatory in Mexico. In the present subsample, we find three new Seyfert 1 galaxies (SBS 0654+598, 1118+541, and 1320+551); one narrow-line Seyfert 1 (SBS 0748+499), one Seyfert 2 (SBS 0925+585), and three Seyfert2/LINER (SBS 0811+584, 1344+527, and 1428+529) galaxies; 12 LINERs; 13 blue compact dwarf galaxies; 65 starburst nuclei; 85 emission-line galaxies; and two absorption galaxies. Relevant astrophysical parameters (magnitude, redshift, relative intensities of emission lines, etc.) are given for the observed galaxies.

- We investigate the stellar populations in a sample of 89 faint red galaxies in the Coma cluster, using high signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) spectroscopy from the 6.5-m MMT. Our sample is drawn from two 1{deg} fields, one centred on the cluster core and the other located 1{deg} to the south-west of the cluster centre. The target galaxies are mostly 2-4mag fainter than M*; galaxies with these luminosities have been previously studied only using small samples, or at low S/N. For a comparison sample we use published high-S/N data for red-sequence galaxies in the Shapley supercluster. We use state-of-the-art stellar population models (by R. Schiavon, Cat. <J/ApJS/171/146>) to interpret the absorption-line indices and infer the single-burst-equivalent age and metallicity (Fe/H) for each galaxy, as well as the abundances of the light elements Mg, Ca, C and N.

- The Herschel Virgo Cluster Survey (HeViCS) is the deepest, confusion-limited survey of the Virgo Cluster at far-infrared (FIR) wavelengths. The entire survey at full depth covers ~55deg^2^ in five bands (100-500um), encompassing the areas around the central dominant elliptical galaxies (M87, M86 and M49) and extends as far as the NW cloud, the W cloud and the Southern extension. The survey extends beyond this region with lower sensitivity so that the total area covered is 84 deg2. In this paper we describe the data, the data acquisition techniques and present the detection rates of the optically selected Virgo Cluster Catalogue (VCC). We detect 254 (34%) of 750 VCC galaxies found within the survey boundary in at least one band and 171 galaxies are detected in all five bands. For the remainder of the galaxies we have measured strict upper limits for their FIR emission.
