- We present B, V and I CCD stellar photometry for a sample of 20 field irregular dwarf galaxies. Their corrected radial velocity is V_0_<500km/s. Most of them have been resolved into stars for the first time. Based on photometry of their brightest blue stars we have derived the following distances: 5.9Mpc (UGC 685), 5.4Mpc (UGC 1281), 7.2Mpc (UGC 3303), 7.0Mpc (UGC 3476), 7.3:Mpc (UGC 3600), 7.2:Mpc (UGC 3698), 7.9Mpc (NGC 2337), 8.6Mpc (UGC 3817), 5.7Mpc (UGC 3860), 5.6Mpc (UGC 4426), >=7.9Mpc (F 565-v1), 7.4:Mpc (UGC 5086), 7.1Mpc (UGC 5272), 5.9Mpc (UGC 5340), 7.1Mpc (UGC 5427), 2.7:Mpc (UGC 5456), 6.6Mpc (NGC 3274), 9.3Mpc (UGC 5889), 5.2Mpc (NGC 5238), and 8.0Mpc (UGC 9405). Our sample exhibits diverse morphological properties evidently caused by their different starburst activity. The galaxy sample has a median integral absolute magnitude M_B_=-14.6 and a median integral colour (B-V)_T_=+0.47. One dwarf, UGC 5340, stands out by its very blue colour, (B-V)_T_=+0.18, and by its high M(HI)/L ratio, as expected for young galaxies. Four objects of the sample are IRAS sources. Being well isolated systems, the considered galaxies may be used to estimate a local value of the Hubble parameter, H=V_0_/D. For half of the sample galaxies their individual H- values are concentrated within [58-68]km/s/Mpc with a median of 65km/s/Mpc.

- We present a BVI photometric and astrometric catalogue of the open cluster NGC 3960, down to limiting magnitude V~22, obtained from observations taken with the Wide Field Imager camera at the MPG/ESO 2.2m Telescope at La Silla. The photometry of all the stars detected in our field of view has been used to estimate a map of the strong differential reddening affecting this area. Our results indicate that, within the region where the cluster dominates, the E(V-I) values range from 0.21 up to 0.78, with E(V-I)=0.36 (E(B-V)=0.29) at the nominal cluster centroid position; color excesses E(V-I) up to 1 mag have been measured in the external regions of the field of view where field stars dominate. The reddening-corrected color-magnitude diagram (CMD) allows us to conclude that the cluster has an age between 0.9 and 1.4Gyr and a distance modulus of (V-M_V)_0=11.35. - CCD BVI photometry of the faint open clusters Berkeley 73, Berkeley 75 and Berkeley 25 are presented. The two latter are previously unstudied clusters to our knowledge. While Berkeley 73 is found to be of intermediate-age (about 1.5Gyr old), Berkeley 75 and Berkeley 25 are old clusters, with ages greater than 3.0Gyr. We provide also estimates of the clusters size. All these clusters lie far away from the Galactic Center, at R_GC_>=16kpc, and quite high on the Galactic plane, at |Z_{sun}_|>=1.5kpc. They are therefore important targets to probe the properties of the structure of the Galaxy in this direction, where the Canis Major over-density has been discovered to be located.

- We present CCD observations for the distant northern open star clusters Berkeley 81, Berkeley 99, NGC 6603 and NGC 7044 in BVI photometric passbands. A total of 9900 stars have been observed in fields of about 6x6arcmin^2^ of the sky around the clusters. Colour-magnitude diagrams in V, (B-V) and V, (V-I) have been generated down to V=22mag and, for the first time, such diagrams have been produced for the clusters Berkeley 81 and Berkeley 99. The data serve as a base for the study of mass functions and for comparison with theoretical models. Analysis of the radial distribution of stellar surface density indicates that the radius values for Berkeley 81, Berkeley 99, NGC 6603 and NGC 7044 are 2.7, 2.8, 2.8 and 2.2arcmin respectively. By fitting the latest convective core overshooting isochrones to the colour-magnitude diagram and using its morphological features, reddenings, distances and ages of the star clusters have been determined. Broad but well-defined main sequences with stellar evolutionary effects in the brighter stars are clearly visible in colour-magnitude diagrams of all the clusters under study. Some blue stragglers along with well-developed giant branches and red giant clumps are also clearly seen in all of them. The clusters studied here are located at a distance of ~3 kpc, except for Berkeley 99 which is located at a distance of 4.9kpc. Their linear sizes lie between 3.8 and 8.0pc; E(B-V) values range from 0.3 to 1.0mag, while their ages are between 0.5 and 3.2Gyr. Thus the star clusters studied here are of intermediate and high age but are compact and distant objects.

- File table1 contains various identifications the master list of 977 stars that were included in the photometric variability survey, and which were cross-identified with stars in the study of Fan et al. (1996, Cat. <J/AJ/112/628>). Another 13 stars included in the study, but not cross-identified with the study of Fan et al. can be found in Table 2, which is published in the paper. These 977 stars are those that were included in a roughly square region, 23 arcminutes on each side, centered approximately 5 arcminutes north of the cluster center. The stars have magnitudes in the approximate range 12.5<B<18.5, 12.5<V<18.5, and 12<I<18. File table3 contains BVI photometry for all 990 stars (from Tables 1 and 2) included in the photometric variability study.

- We used HST-WFPC2 and the 1.54 Danish ESO-telescope at La Silla (Chile) to obtain photometry for stars located within 200 arcsec from the center of the cluster NGC 6101. HST-WFPC2 data for 1 field centered on the cluster, have been collected during HST-cycle 6. The resulting V, V-I photometry reach a limiting magnitude of V~25.5. Ground observations have been collected on July 1995. The resulting photometry containing the stars simultaneously detected in the V, B and I filters, is characterized by a limiting magnitude of V~22.5.

- We present broadband BVI photometry for the open cluster NGC 6791, based upon analysis of 1764 individual CCD images. Data tables listing measured magnitudes and standard errors, image-quality indices, a variability index, and equinox J2000.0 equatorial coordinates for 14,342 stars to V~24 have been made available to the public through the services of the Canadian Astronomy Data Centre. Equatorial coordinates only have been provided for a further 1916 stars, the photometry for which we were unable to calibrate because of lack of color information.

- We present the Johnson-Cousins B,V and I time series data obtained for 162 variable stars (135 RR Lyrae, 4 candidate Anomalous Cepheids, 11 Classical Cepheids, 11 eclipsing binaries and 1 delta Scuti star) in two 13x13 square arcmin areas close to the bar of the Large Magellanic Cloud. The photometric observations presented in this paper were carried out at the 1.54m Danish telescope located in La Silla, Chile, on the nights 4-7 January 1999, UT, and 23-24 January 2001, UT, respectively. In the paper we give coordinates, finding charts, periods, epochs, amplitudes, and mean quantities (intensity- and magnitude-averaged luminosities) of the variables with full coverage of the light variations, along with a discussion of the pulsation properties of the RR Lyrae stars in the sample.

- We present wide field photometry of the Galactic Globular Cluster M 22 in the B, V and I passbands for more than 186,000 stars. The study is complemented by the photometry in two narrowband filters centered on H{alpha} and the adjacent continuum, and by infrared J, H and K magnitudes derived from the 2 MASS survey for ~2000 stars. Profiting from this huge database, we completely characterized the evolved stellar sequences of the cluster by determining a variety of photometric parameters, including new photometric estimates of the mean metallicity, reddening and distance to the cluster. In particular, from our multi-wavelength analysis, we re-examined the long-standing metallicity spread problem in M 22. According to our dataset, we conclude that most of the observed width of the red giant branch must be due to differential reddening, which amounts to a maximum of {Delta}E(B-V)~0.06, although the presence of a small metallicity spread cannot be completely ruled out. More specifically, the maximum metallicity spread allowed by our data is of the order of {Delta}[Fe/H]~0.1-0.2dex, i.e., not much more than what allowed by the photometric errors. Finally, we identified most of the known variable stars and peculiar objects in our field of view. In particular, we find additional evidence supporting previous optical identifications of the central star of the Planetary Nebula IRAS 18333-2357, which is associated with M 22.
