- Description:
- This catalog contains near-infrared (2.5--5.0 micron) low-resolution (R ~ 100) spectra of 72 Galactic Planetary Nebulae (PNe), obtained with the InfraRed Camera (IRC) onboard the AKARI satellite in the post-helium phase. The objects were treated as almost point sources for the IRC. Grism spectroscopy was carried out in the 1-arcmin window. The near-infrared spectra were obtained in a slit-less mode without any flux loss due to a slit. The spectra show emission features including hydrogen recombination lines, helium recombination lines, the 3.3--3.5 micron hydrocarbon features, [MgIV] at 4.49 micron, and [ArVI] at 4.53 micron. This catalog also contains the intensity and equivalent width of these emission features measured by spectral fitting. The source list (source.dat) summarizes observations. As ancillary data, the magnitudes in the V- and Ks-band, the extinction at V-band toward the objects, and the effective temperature collected from literature are listed in another table (misc.dat). The intensities and the equivalent widths of the emission features are tabulated in different tables (intens.dat and equivw.dat). Each object is identified by the PNG ID (PNG) or an observation ID (Obs-ID). One-dimensional near-infrared spectra are stored in a directory (spc/). Each spectrum is identified by the observation ID.

- Description:
- We present an asteroidal catalog from the mid-infrared wavelength region using the slow-scan observation mode obtained by the Infrared Camera (IRC) on-board the Japanese infrared satellite AKARI. An archive of IRC slow-scan observations comprising about 1000 images was used to search for serendipitous encounters of known asteroids. We have determined the geometric albedos and diameters for 88 main-belt asteroids, including two asteroids in the Hilda region, and compared these, where possible, with previously published values. Approximately one-third of the acquired data reflects new asteroidal information. Some bodies classified as C or D-type with high albedo were also identified in the catalog.

- AKARI-LMC Near-infrared Spectroscopic Catalog
- Short Name:
- J/AJ/145/32
- Date:

- Publisher:
- CDS
- Description:
- We performed a near-infrared spectroscopic survey toward an area of ~10deg^2^ of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) with the infrared satellite AKARI. Observations were carried out as part of the AKARI Large-area Survey of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LSLMC). The slitless multi-object spectroscopic capability of the AKARI/IRC enabled us to obtain low-resolution (R~20) spectra in 2-5{mu}m for a large number of point sources in the LMC. As a result of the survey, we extracted about 2000 infrared spectra of point sources. The data are organized as a near-infrared spectroscopic catalog. The catalog includes various infrared objects such as young stellar objects (YSOs), asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars, supergiants, and so on. It is shown that 97% of the catalog sources have corresponding photometric data in the wavelength range from 1.2 to 11{mu}m, and 67% of the sources also have photometric data up to 24{mu}m. The catalog allows us to investigate near-infrared spectral features of sources by comparison with their infrared spectral energy distributions. In addition, it is estimated that about 10% of the catalog sources are observed at more than two different epochs. This enables us to study a spectroscopic variability of sources by using the present catalog. Initial results of source classifications for the LSLMC samples are presented. We classified 659 LSLMC spectra based on their near-infrared spectral features by visual inspection. As a result, it is shown that the present catalog includes 7 YSOs, 160 C-rich AGBs, 8 C-rich AGB candidates, 85 O-rich AGBs, 122 blue and yellow supergiants, 150 red super giants, and 128 unclassified sources. Distributions of the classified sources on the color-color and color-magnitude diagrams are discussed in the text. Continuous wavelength coverage and high spectroscopic sensitivity in 2-5{mu}m can only be achieved by space observations. This is an unprecedented large-scale spectroscopic survey toward the LMC in the near-infrared. A large number of near-infrared spectral data provided by the survey possess scientific potential that can be applied to various studies. In this paper, we present the details of the spectroscopic survey and the catalog, and discuss its scientific applications.

- Description:
- We present a near- to mid-infrared point-source catalog of five photometric bands at 3.2, 7, 11, 15, and 24{mu}m for a 10deg^2^ area of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) obtained with the Infrared Camera on board the AKARI satellite. To cover the survey area the observations were carried out at three separate seasons from 2006 May to June, 2006 October to December, and 2007 March to July. The 10{sigma} limiting magnitudes of the present survey are 17.9, 13.8, 12.4, 9.9, and 8.6mag at 3.2, 7, 11, 15, and 24{mu}m, respectively. The photometric accuracy is estimated to be about 0.1mag at 3.2{mu}m and 0.06-0.07 mag in the other bands. The position accuracy is 0.3" at 3.2, 7, and 11{mu}m and 1.0" at 15 and 24{mu}m. The sensitivities at 3.2, 7, and 24{mu}m are roughly comparable to those of the Spitzer SAGE LMC point-source catalog, while the AKARI catalog provides the data at 11 and 15 {mu}m, covering the mid-infrared spectral range contiguously. Two types of catalog are provided: a Catalog and an Archive. The Archive contains all the detected sources, while the Catalog only includes the sources that have a counterpart in the Spitzer SAGE point-source catalog. The Archive contains about 650,000, 140,000, 97,000, 43,000, and 52,000 sources at 3.2, 7, 11, 15, and 24{mu}m, respectively. Based on the catalog, we discuss the luminosity functions at each band, the color-color diagram, and the color-magnitude diagram using the 3.2, 7, and 11{mu}m band data. Stars without circumstellar envelopes, dusty C-rich and O-rich stars, young stellar objects, and background galaxies are located at distinct regions in the diagrams, suggesting that the present catalog is useful for the classification of objects toward the LMC.

- Description:
- Knowledge of water in the solar system is important for the understanding of a wide range of evolutionary processes and the thermal history of the solar system. To explore the existence of water in the solar system, it is indispensable to investigate hydrated minerals and/or water ice on asteroids. These water-related materials show absorption features in the 3um band (wavelengths from 2.7 to 3.1um). We conducted a spectroscopic survey of asteroids in the 3um band using the Infrared Camera (IRC) on board the Japanese infrared satellite AKARI. In the warm mission period of AKARI, 147 pointed observations were performed for 66 asteroids in the grism mode for wavelengths from 2.5 to 5um. According to these observations, most C-complex asteroids have clear absorption features (>10% with respect to the continuum) related to hydrated minerals at a peak wavelength of approximately 2.75um, while S-complex asteroids have no significant features in this wavelength range. The present data are released to the public as the Asteroid Catalog using AKARI Spectroscopic Observations (AcuA-spec).

- Description:
- This is the revised catalogue of the AKARI North Ecliptic Pole Deep survey. The survey was carried out with the InfraRed Camera (IRC) onboard AKARI which has a comprehensive mid-IR wavelength coverage in nine photometric bands at 2-24 micron. For mid-IR source extraction we used a detection image while for near-IR source detection we used optical to near-IR ground-based catalogue which is based on CFHT/MegaCam z', CFHT/WIRCam Ks and Subaru/Scam z' band detection. Here we present an AKARI source with the identification from the ground-based catalogue. For objects with multiple counterparts, all of these were listed in the catalogue with an upper limit for the AKARI flux. The magnitudes are given in the AB system.

- AKARI NEP Survey sources at 18um

- Description:
- We present the first galaxy counts at 18{mu}m using the Japanese AKARI satellite's survey at the North Ecliptic Pole (NEP), produced from the images from the NEP-Deep and NEP-Wide surveys covering 0.6 and 5.8deg^2^, respectively. We describe a procedure using a point source filtering algorithm to remove background structure and a minimum variance method for our source extraction and photometry that delivers the optimum signal to noise for our extracted sources, confirming this by comparison with standard photometry methods. The final source counts are complete and reliable over three orders of magnitude in flux density, resulting in sensitivities (80 per cent completeness) of 0.15 and 0.3mJy for the NEP-Deep and NEP-Wide surveys, respectively, a factor of 1.3 deeper than previous catalogues constructed from this field. The differential source counts exhibit a characteristic upturn from Euclidean expectations at around a milliJansky and a corresponding evolutionary bump between 0.2-0.4mJy consistent with previous mid-infrared surveys with ISO and Spitzer at 15 and 24{mu}m. We compare our results with galaxy evolution models confirming the striking divergence from the non-evolving scenario. The models and observations are in broad agreement implying that the source counts are consistent with a strongly evolving population of luminous infrared galaxies at redshifts higher than unity. Integrating our source counts down to the limit of the NEP survey at the 150{mu}Jy level we calculate that AKARI has resolved approximately 55 per cent of the 18{mu}m cosmic infrared background relative to the predictions of contemporary source count models.

- Description:
- Using a large collection of near-infrared spectra (2.5-5.4 {mu}m) of Galactic HII regions and HII region-like objects, we perform a systematic investigation of astronomical polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) features. Thirty-six objects were observed using the infrared camera on board the AKARI satellite as a part of a director's time program. In addition to the well known 3.3-3.6 {mu}m features, most spectra show a relatively weak emission feature at 5.22 {mu}m with sufficient signal-to-noise ratios, which we identify as the PAH 5.25 {mu}m band (previously reported).

- Description:
- The InfraRed Camera (IRC) onboard AKARI has a comprehensive wavelength coverage with 9 photometric bands at 2-24 micron. Based on the NEP-Wide survey of AKARI (which covered a 5.4 sq.deg circular area centered on the NEP), we constructed a catalog for the infrared sources found in the survey area. Here we present the catalog containing about 114,800 sources detected at the nine IRC filter bands. This is a band-merged catalogue including all of the photometry results from the supplementary optical data as well as the IRC bands. To validate a source at a given IRC band, we searched counterparts in the other bands. The band-merging was done based on this cross-matching of the sources among the filter bands. If there is no detection in a certain band, we assigned the 99.000. The NIR sources having no counterpart in any other bands are finally excluded to avoid the false objects. See the reference for the details of the NEP-Wide survey and data reduction.

- Low-resolution NIR spectra of zodiacal light
- Short Name:
- J/PASJ/65/119
- Date:

- Publisher:

- Description:
- This catalog contains the 278 low-resolution (R~20) near-infrared (1.8-5.3micron) spectra of diffuse sky covering a wide range of galactic and ecliptic latitudes with the Infrared Camera (IRC) on board AKARI before the exhaustion of liquid-helium (from September 2006 to May 2007). Advanced reduction methods specialized for the slit spectroscopy of diffuse sky spectra are developed for constructing this spectral catalog. Filter wheel of the IRC instrument has dark position to measure the dark current, and uncertainty due to dark current subtraction is estimated to be <3nW/m2/sr at 2micron (Tsumura & Wada, 2011PASJ...63..755T). Point sources brighter than mK(Vega)=19 were detected on the slit and masked for deriving the diffuse spectrum. It was confirmed that the brightness due to unresolved galactic stars under this detection limit is negligible (<0.5% of the sky brightness at 2.2 micron) by a Milky Way star count model (TRILEGAL; Girardi et al., 2005A&A...436..895G). Cumulative brightness contributed by unresolved galaxies can be estimated by the deep galaxy counts, being <4nW/m2/sr at K band in the case of limiting magnitude of mK=19 (Keenan et al., 2010ApJ...723...40K).

- NEP deep survey at 11um

- Description:
- We present the properties of 11um selected sources detected in the early data of the North Ecliptic Pole Deep (NEP-Deep) Survey of AKARI. The data set covers 6 wavelength bands from 2.5 to 11um, with exposure times of 10-20 minutes. This field lies within the CFHT survey with four filter bands (g', r', i', z'), enabling us to establish nearly continuous spectral energy distributions (SEDs) for wavelengths ranging from 0.4 to 11um. The main sample studied here consists of 72 sources whose 11um AB magnitudes are equal to or brighter than 18.5 (144uJy), which is complete to more than 90%. The 11um band has an advantage of sampling star-forming galaxies with low-to-medium redshifts, since the prominent PAH feature shifts into this band. As expected, we find that the majority (71%) of 11um bright sources are star-forming galaxies at 0.2~<z~<0.7 with L_IR_~10^10^-10^12^~L_{sun}_ based on detailed modelling of the SEDs. We also find four AGNs lying at various redshifts in the main sample. In addition, we discuss a few sources that have non-typical SEDs of the main sample, including a brown-dwarf candidate, a steep power-law source, a flat-spectrum object, and an early-type galaxy at moderate redshift.

- Description:
- To separate stars and galaxies in the far infrared AKARI All-Sky Survey data, we have selected a sample with the complete color information available in the low extinction regions of the sky and constructed color-color plots for these data.We looked for the method to separate stars and galaxies using the color information. We performed an extensive search for the counterparts of these selected All-Sky Survey objects in the NED and SIMBAD databases. Among 5176 selected objects, we found 4272 galaxies, 382 other extragalactic objects, 349 Milky Way stars, 50 other Galactic objects, and 101 sources detected before in various wavelengths but of an unknown origin. 22 sources were left unidentified. Then, we checked colors of stars and galaxies in the far-infrared flux-color and color-color plots.
