- A large reverberation-mapping study of the Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 7469 has yielded emission-line lags for H{beta} {lambda}4861 and He II {lambda}4686 and a central black hole mass measurement M_BH_{approx} 1x10^7^ M_{sun}_, consistent with previous measurements. A very low level of variability during the monitoring campaign precluded meeting our original goal of recovering velocity-delay maps from the data, but with the new H{beta} measurement, NGC 7469 is no longer an outlier in the relationship between the size of the H{beta}-emitting broad-line region and the luminosity of the active galactic nucleus. It was necessary to detrend the continuum and H{beta} and He II {lambda}4686 line light curves and those from archival UV data for different time-series analysis methods to yield consistent results.

- Eleven lists of blue stellar objects (BSOs) were published in Astrophysics in 1990-1996, found in the First Byurakan Survey (FBS) low-dispersion spectroscopic plates. The selection was carried out in the region with +33<Dec<+45 and Dec>+61 with a surface of 4000deg^2^. As a result, the catalogue of the FBS blue stellar objects (BSOs) was compiled. Its preliminary version has been available at CDS since 1999. We revised and updated the FBS BSOs catalogue with the new data from recently published optical and multiwavelength catalogues to give access to all available data and make further comparative studies of the properties of these objects possible. We made cross-correlations of the FBS BSOs catalogue with the MAPS , USNO-B1.0, SDSS, and 2MASS, as well as ROSAT, IRAS, NVSS, and FIRST catalogs , added updated SIMBAD and NED data for the objects, and provided accurate DSS1 and DSS2 positions and revised photometry. We also checked the objects for proper motion and variability. A refined classification for the low-dispersion spectra in the Digitized First Byurakan Survey (DFBS) was carried out. The revised and updated catalogue of 1103 FBS blue stellar objects is presented. The FBS blue stellar objects catalogue can be used to study a complete sample of white dwarfs, hot subdwarfs, HBB stars, cataclysmic variables, bright AGN, and to investigate individual interesting objects. This catalog supersedes the previous edition by Abrahamian et al. (Cat. II/223)

- We present the first results of a large spectroscopic survey of candidate globular clusters located in the extreme outskirts of the nearby M 31 galaxy. The survey is aimed at ascertaining the nature of the selected candidates to increase the sample of confirmed M 31 clusters lying more that 2{deg} away from the center of the galaxy. We obtained low resolution spectra ({lambda}/{Delta}{lambda}~800-1300) of 48 targets selected from the Extended Source Catalogue of 2MASS, as in Galleti et al. (2005A&A...436..535G). The observed candidates have been robustly classified according to their radial velocity and by verifying their extended/point-source nature from ground-based optical images. We have also obtained a spectrum and a radial velocity estimate for the remote M 31 globular discovered by Martin et al. (2006MNRAS.371.1983M).

- The Flat Galaxy Catalog (FGC) is the result of a systematic search for disk-like edge-on galaxies with a diameter larger than a=40arcsec and major-to-minor axis ratio a/b>7 from Palomar Observatory and ESO/SERC surveys; it contained 4455 objects covering about 56% of the whole sky (Karachentsev et al., 1993AN....314...97K, see Cat. <VII/162>). The main reasons for preparing a new, improved and supplemented catalogue version were the following: - a possibility of remeasuring the coordinates of flat galaxies with a higher accuracy using the Digital Sky Survey; - the inclusion the data about "red" galaxy diameters which were absent earlier; - a reduction the diameters measured on the J and R films of the ESO/SERC to the diameter system of the POSS-I (near to a_25_ system) that eliminated the difference in photometric depth between two parts of the catalogue (Kudrya et al. 1997PAZh...23...15K); - a calculation of total apparent magnitudes (with a standard error about 0.25mag) for all flat galaxies basing on angular diameters, surface brightnesses, and other parameter data (Kudrya et al. 1997PAZh...23..730K); - a possibility to determine the Galaxy absorption values in the region of each flat galaxy placing using new IR data (Schlegel et al. 1998ApJ...500..525S). - a necessity to remove the faults noted during the work with the FGC data. The structural differences between old and new catalogue versions are: - both the parts, FGC and FGCE, have been joined in the RFGC (Revised Flat Galaxy Catalogue) where the galaxies are ranged according to their Right Ascensions for the epoch J2000.0; - the Addendum have been omitted; - the Notes describing concrete object characteristics have been included in the main corpus of the catalogue, some details were omitted; - the lists of identification of the FGC and the FGCE galaxies have been omitted because these data are accessible now due to different galaxy databases (NED, LEDA etc).

- We describe our spectroscopic follow-up to the Local Group Galaxy Survey (LGGS) photometry of M31 and M33. We have obtained new spectroscopy of 1895 stars, allowing us to classify 1496 of them for the first time. Our study has identified many foreground stars, and established membership for hundreds of early- and mid-type supergiants. We have also found nine new candidate luminous blue variables and a previously unrecognized Wolf-Rayet star. We republish the LGGS M31 and M33 catalogs with improved coordinates, and including spectroscopy from the literature and our new results. The spectroscopy in this paper is responsible for the vast majority of the stellar classifications in these two nearby spiral neighbors. The most luminous (and hence massive) of the stars in our sample are early-type B supergiants, as expected; the more massive O stars are more rare and fainter visually, and thus mostly remain unobserved so far. The majority of the unevolved stars in our sample are in the 20-40M_{Sun}_ range.

- We have revised the Spitzer Wide-Area Infrared Extragalactic survey (SWIRE) Photometric Redshift Catalogue to take account of new optical photometry in several of the SWIRE areas, and incorporating Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS) and UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey (UKIDSS) near-infrared data. Aperture matching is an important issue for combining near-infrared and optical data, and we have explored a number of methods of doing this. The increased number of photometric bands available for the redshift solution results in improvements both in the rms error and, especially, in the outlier rate. We have also found that incorporating the dust torus emission into the quasi-stellar object (QSO) templates improves the performance for QSO redshift estimation. Our revised redshift catalogue contains over 1 million extragalactic objects, of which 26 288 are QSOs.

- We measured [Fe/H] and [{alpha}/Fe] using spectral synthesis of low-resolution stellar spectroscopy for 70 individual red-giant-branch stars across four fields spanning the outer disk, Giant Stellar Stream (GSS), and inner halo of M31. Fields at M31-centric projected distances of 23kpc in the halo, 12kpc in the halo, 22kpc in the GSS, and 26kpc in the outer disk are {alpha}-enhanced, with <[{alpha}/Fe]>=0.43, 0.50, 0.41, and 0.58, respectively. The 23 and 12kpc halo fields are relatively metal-poor, with <[Fe/H]>=-1.54 and -1.30, whereas the 22kpc GSS and 26kpc outer disk fields are relatively metal-rich with <[Fe/H]>=-0.84 and -0.92, respectively. For fields with substructure, we separated the stellar populations into kinematically hot stellar halo components and kinematically cold components. We did not find any evidence of a radial [{alpha}/Fe] gradient along the high surface brightness core of the GSS between ~17 and 22kpc. However, we found tentative suggestions of a negative radial [{alpha}/Fe] gradient in the stellar halo, which may indicate that different progenitor(s) or formation mechanisms contributed to the build up of the inner versus outer halo. Additionally, the [{alpha}/Fe] distribution of the metal-rich ([Fe/H]>-1.5), smooth inner stellar halo (r_proj_<~26kpc) is inconsistent with having formed from the disruption of a progenitor(s) similar to present-day M31 satellite galaxies. The 26kpc outer disk is most likely associated with the extended disk of M31, where its high {alpha}-enhancement provides support for an episode of rapid star formation in M31's disk possibly induced by a major merger.
