- We describe the results of the ESO Key-programme on "Structure and Dynamics of Rich Galaxy Clusters" (which we will henceforth refer to as the ESO Nearby Abell Cluster Survey - or ENACS). We discuss the sample of clusters for which data were obtained, and the observational programme of spectroscopy and photometry that we carried out. The final database contains a total of 5634 galaxies in the directions of 107 clusters from the catalogue by Abell, Corwin and Olowin 1989 (ACO hereafter) with richness R>=1 and mean redshifts z<=0.1.

- The ESO Nearby Abell Cluster Survey (the ENACS) has yielded 5634 redshifts for galaxies in the directions of 107 rich, Southern clusters selected from the ACO catalogue (Abell et al. 1989). By combining these data with another 1000 redshifts from the literature, of galaxies in 37 clusters, we construct a volume-limited sample of 128 R_ACO_>=1 clusters in a solid angle of 2.55sr centered on the South Galactic Pole, out to a redshift z=0.1. For a subset of 80 of these clusters we can calculate a reliable velocity dispersion, based on at least 10 (but very often between 30 and 150) redshifts.

- We present a new catalog of galaxies in the wider region of the Virgo cluster, based on the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release 7. The Extended Virgo Cluster Catalog (EVCC) covers an area of 725deg^2^ or 60.1Mpc^2^. It is 5.2 times larger than the footprint of the classical Virgo Cluster Catalog (VCC) and reaches out to 3.5 times the virial radius of the Virgo cluster. We selected 1324 spectroscopically targeted galaxies with radial velocities less than 3000km/s. In addition, 265 galaxies that have been overlooked in the SDSS spectroscopic survey but have available redshifts in the NASA Extragalactic Database are also included. Our selection process secured a total of 1589 galaxies, 676 of which are not included in the VCC. The certain and possible cluster members are defined by means of redshift comparison with a cluster infall model. We employed two independent and complementary galaxy classification schemes: the traditional morphological classification based on the visual inspection of optical images and a characterization of galaxies from their spectroscopic features. SDSS u, g, r, i, and z passband photometry of all EVCC galaxies was performed using Source Extractor. We compare the EVCC galaxies with the VCC in terms of morphology, spatial distribution, and luminosity function. The EVCC defines a comprehensive galaxy sample covering a wider range in galaxy density that is significantly different from the inner region of the Virgo cluster. It will be the foundation for forthcoming galaxy evolution studies in the extended Virgo cluster region, complementing ongoing and planned Virgo cluster surveys at various wavelengths.

- Using the Florida Multi-object Imaging Near-IR Grism Observational Spectrometer (FLAMINGOS), we have conducted the FLAMINGOS Extragalactic Survey (FLAMEX), a deep imaging survey covering 7.1{deg}^2^ within the 18.6{deg}^2^ NOAO Deep Wide-Field Survey (NDWFS) regions. FLAMEX is the first deep, wide-area, nearinfrared survey to image in both the J and Ks filters, and is larger than any previous NIR survey of comparable depth. The intent of FLAMEX is to facilitate the study of galaxy and galaxy cluster evolution at 1<z<2 by providing rest-frame optical photometry for the massive galaxy population at this epoch. This effort is designed to yield a public data set that complements and augments the suite of existing surveys in the NDWFS fields. We present an overview of FLAMEX and initial results based on ~150,000 Ks-selected sources in the Bootes field. We describe the observations and reductions, quantify the data quality, and verify that the number counts are consistent with results from previous surveys. Finally, we comment on the utility of this sample for detailed study of the ERO population, and present one of the first spectroscopically confirmed z>1 galaxy clusters detected using the joint FLAMEX, NDWFS, and Spitzer IRAC Shallow Survey data sets.

- A possible pathway for understanding the events and the mechanisms involved in galaxy formation and evolution is an in-depth comprehension of the galactic and inter-galactic fossil sub-structures with long dynamical times-scales: stars in the field and in stellar clusters. This paper continues the series of the Fornax Deep Survey (FDS). Following the previous studies dedicated to extended Fornax cluster members, in this paper we present the catalogs of compact stellar systems in the Fornax cluster as well as extended background sources and point-like sources. We derive ugri photometry of ~1.7 million sources over the ~21 square degree area of FDS centered on the bright central galaxy NGC1399. For a wider area, of ~27 square degrees extending in the direction of NGC1316, we provide gri photometry for ~3.1 million sources. To improve the morphological characterization of sources we generate multi-band image stacks by coadding the best seeing gri-band single exposures with a cut at FWHM<=0.9". We use the multi-band stacks as master detection frames, with a FWHM improved by ~15% and a FWHM variability from field to field reduced by a factor of ~2.5 compared to the pass-band with best FWHM, namely the r-band. The identification of compact sources, in particular of globular clusters (GC), is obtained from a combination of photometric (e.g. colors, magnitudes) and morphometric (e.g. concentration index, elongation, effective radius) selection criteria, by also taking as reference the properties of sources with well-defined classification from spectroscopic or high-resolution imaging data. Using the FDS catalogs, we present a preliminary analysis of globular cluster (GC) distributions in the Fornax area. The study confirms and extends further previous results which were limited to a smaller survey area. We observe the inter-galactic population of GCs, a population of mainly blue GCs centered on NGC1399, extends over ~0.9Mpc, with an ellipticity ~0.65 and a small tilt in the direction of NGC1336. Several sub-structures extend over ~0.5Mpc along various directions. Two of these structures do not cross any bright galaxy; one of them appears to be connected to NGC1404, a bright galaxy close to the cluster core and particularly poor of GCs. Using the gri catalogs we analyze the GC distribution over the extended FDS area, and do not find any obvious GC sub-structure bridging the two brightest cluster galaxies, NGC1316 and NGC1399. Although NGC1316 is more than twice brighter of NGC1399 in optical bands, using gri data, we estimate a factor of ~3-4 richer GC population around NGC1399 compared to NGC1316, out to galactocentric distances of ~40' or ~230kpc

- We explore connections between brightest cluster galaxies (BCGs) and their host clusters. We first construct a HeCS-omnibus cluster sample including 227 galaxy clusters within 0.02<z<0.30; the total number of spectroscopic members from MMT/Hectospec and SDSS observations is 52325. Taking advantage of the large spectroscopic sample, we compute physical properties of the clusters including the dynamical mass and cluster velocity dispersion ({sigma}_cl_). We also measure the central stellar velocity dispersion of the BCGs ({sigma}_*,BCGs_) to examine the relation between BCG velocity dispersion and cluster velocity dispersion for the first time. The observed relation between BCG velocity dispersion and the cluster velocity dispersion is remarkably tight. Interestingly, the {sigma}_*,BCG_/{sigma}_cl_ ratio decreases as a function of {sigma}_cl_ unlike the prediction from the numerical simulation of Dolag+ (2010MNRAS.405.1544D). The trend in {sigma}_*,BCG_/{sigma}_cl_ suggests that BCG formation is more efficient in lower mass halos.

- We use the dense HectoMAP redshift survey to explore the properties of 104 redMaPPer cluster candidates. The redMaPPer systems in HectoMAP cover the full range of richness and redshift (0.08<z<0.60). Fifteen of the systems included in the Subaru/Hyper Suprime-Cam public data release are bona fide clusters. The median number of spectroscopic members per cluster is ~20. We include redshifts of 3547 member candidates listed in the redMaPPer catalog whether they are cluster members or not. We evaluate the redMaPPer membership probability spectroscopically. The purity (number of real systems) in redMaPPer exceeds 90% even at the lowest richness. Three massive galaxy clusters (M~2x10^13^M_{sun}_) associated with X-ray emission in the HectoMAP region are not included in the public redMaPPer catalog with {lambda}_rich_>20, because they lie outside the cuts for this catalog.

- We apply a friends-of-friends algorithm to the HectoMAP redshift survey and cross-identify associated X-ray emission in the ROSAT All-Sky Survey data (RASS). The resulting flux-limited catalog of X-ray cluster surveys is complete to a limiting flux of ~3x10^-13^erg/s/cm^2^ and includes 15 clusters (7 newly discovered) with redshifts z<=0.4. HectoMAP is a dense survey (~1200 galaxies deg^-2^) that provides ~50 members (median) in each X-ray cluster. We provide redshifts for the 1036 cluster members. Subaru/Hyper Suprime-Cam imaging covers three of the X-ray systems and confirms that they are impressive clusters. The HectoMAP X-ray clusters have an LX-{sigma}cl scaling relation similar to that of known massive X-ray clusters. The HectoMAP X-ray cluster sample predicts ~12000+/-3000 detectable X-ray clusters in RASS to the limiting flux, comparable with previous estimates.

- We describe the Herschel Virgo Cluster Survey and the first data that cover the complete survey area (four 4x4deg^2^ regions). We use these data to measure and compare the global far-infrared properties of 78 optically bright galaxies that are selected at 500um and detected in all five far-infrared bands. We show that our measurements and calibration are broadly consistent with previous data obtained by the IRAS, ISO, Spitzer and Planck. We use SPIRE and PACS photometry data to produce 100-, 160-, 250-, 350- and 500-um cluster luminosity distributions.

- We present 190 galaxy cluster candidates (most at high redshift) based on galaxy overdensity measurements in the Spitzer/IRAC imaging of the fields surrounding 646 bent, double-lobed radio sources drawn from the Clusters Occupied by Bent Radio AGN (COBRA) Survey. The COBRA sources were chosen as objects in the Very Large Array FIRST survey that lack optical counterparts in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey to a limit of m_r_=22, making them likely to lie at high redshift. This is confirmed by our observations: the redshift distribution of COBRA sources with estimated redshifts peaks near z=1 and extends out to z~3. Cluster candidates were identified by comparing our target fields to a background field and searching for statistically significant (>=2{sigma}) excesses in the galaxy number counts surrounding the radio sources; 190 fields satisfy the >=2{sigma} limit. We find that 530 fields (82.0%) have a net positive excess of galaxies surrounding the radio source. Many of the fields with positive excesses but below the 2{sigma} cutoff are likely to be galaxy groups. Forty-one COBRA sources are quasars with known spectroscopic redshifts, which may be tracers of some of the most distant clusters known.
