- of Paper: The Henry Draper Extension Charts (Cannon et al., 1949), published in the form of finding charts, provide spectral classification for some 87000 stars mostly between 10th and 11th magnitude. This data, being highly valuable, as yet was practically unusable for modern computer-based astronomy. An earlier pilot project (Roeser et al. 1991) demonstrated a possibility to convert this into a star catalogue, using measurements of cartesian coordinates of stars on the charts and positions of the Astrographic Catalogue (AC) for subsequent identification. We present here a final HDEC catalogue comprising accurate positions, proper motions, magnitudes and spectral classes for 86933 stars of the Henry Draper Extension Charts.

- We present the kinematics of 35 highly r-process-enhanced ([Eu/Fe]>=+0.7) metal-poor (-3.8<[Fe/H]< -1.4) field stars. We calculate six-dimensional positions and velocities, evaluate energies and integrals of motion, and compute orbits for each of these stars using parallaxes and proper motions from the second Gaia data release (Cat. I/345) and published radial velocities. All of these stars have halo kinematics. Most stars (66%) remain in the inner regions of the halo (<13 kpc), and many (51%) have orbits that pass within 2.6 kpc of the Galactic center. Several stars (20%) have orbits that extend beyond 20 kpc, including one with an orbital apocenter larger than the Milky Way virial radius. We apply three clustering methods to search for structure in phase space, and we identify eight groups. No abundances are considered in the clustering process, but the [Fe/H] dispersions of the groups are smaller than would be expected by random chance. The orbital properties, clustering in phase space and metallicity, and the lack of highly r-process-enhanced stars on disk-like orbits, indicate that such stars likely were accreted from disrupted satellites. Comparison with the galaxy luminosity-metallicity relation suggests M_V_>~-9 for most of the progenitor satellites, characteristic of ultra-faint or low-luminosity classical dwarf spheroidal galaxies. Environments with low rates of star formation and Fe production, rather than the nature of the r-process site, may be key to obtaining the [Eu/Fe] ratios found in highly r-process-enhanced stars.

- Large numbers of low-to-medium-resolution spectra of M-type dwarf stars from both the local Galactic disk and halo are available from various surveys. In order to fully exploit these data, we develop a template-fit method using a set of empirically assembled M dwarf/subdwarf classification templates, based on the measurements of the TiO and CaH molecular bands near 7000{AA}, which are used to classify M dwarfs/subdwarfs by spectral type and metallicity class. We further present a pipeline to automatically determine the effective temperature Teff, metallicity [M/H], {alpha}-element to iron abundance ratio [{alpha}/Fe], and surface gravity logg of M dwarfs/subdwarfs using the latest version of BT-Settl model atmospheres. We apply these methods to a set of low-to-medium-resolution spectra of 1544 high proper-motion ({mu}>=0.4"/yr) M dwarfs/subdwarfs, collected at the MDM observatory, Lick Observatory, Kitt-Peak National Observatory, and Cerro-Tololo Interamerican Observatory.

- The brightest portion of the Orion Nebula has been reimaged with the Hubble Space Telescope in H{alpha}, [N II], and [O III]. Comparison with earlier Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 images going back as much as 8yr has allowed determination of tangential velocities (proper motions) down to about 10km/s for a variety of sources. Multiple outflow systems are found associated with individual proplyds in the ionized portion of the nebula (HH 518, HH 624, possibly HH 507). The Orion-S complex of radio and infrared sources is the source of multiple outflows. A new outflow system (HH 625) has been identified as coming from the blueshifted portion of the imbedded high velocity CO flow coming from the Orion-S region, this object having CO, H2, and low ionization optical components. The low velocity CO outflow originating from or near FIR 4 is the likely source of HH 530. A new imbedded source is inferred from this optical data to lie in Orion-S. This optical outflow source (OOS) clearly feeds the systems HH 269 and HH 529, which lie along a straight line. There is evidence that this is also the source for HH 528, HH 202, and HH 203/204, all of which are blueshifted (except possibly HH 528 whose radial velocity is unknown). There is no strong radio, infrared, or X-ray source within the positional ellipse of the OOS.

- The census of the solar neighbourhood is almost complete for stars and becoming more complete in the brown dwarf regime. Spectroscopic, photometric and kinematic characterization of nearby objects helps us to understand the local mass function, the binary fraction, and provides new targets for sensitive planet searches. We aim to derive spectral types and spectrophotometric distances of a sample of new high proper motion sources found with the WISE (Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer) satellite, and obtain parallaxes for those objects that fall within the area observed by the Vista Variables in the Via Lactea survey (VVV). We used low-resolution spectroscopy and template fitting to derive spectral types, multiwavelength photometry to characterize the companion candidates and obtain photometric distances. Multi-epoch imaging from the VVV survey was used to measure the parallaxes and proper motions for three sources. We confirm a new T2 brown dwarf within ~15pc. We derived optical spectral types for 24 sources, mostly M dwarfs within 50pc. We addressed the wide binary nature of 16 objects found by the WISE mission and previously known high proper motion sources. Six of these are probably members of wide binaries, two of those are new, and present evidence against the physical binary nature of two candidate binary stars found in the literature, and eight that we selected as possible binary systems. We discuss a likely microlensing event produced by a nearby low-mass star and a galaxy, that is to occur in the following five years.

- We present the preliminary results of our astrometric study of stellar motions along the lines of sight of the Magellanic Clouds and the Galactic bulge. Using 5 years of MACHO project point-spread function photometry, we find that we can easily select stars with proper motions of 0.03"/yr from these very dense fields, using the characteristic shapes of their light curves. By performing astrometry on photometrically selected, candidate, high proper motion (HPM) stars in 50 deg^2^, we have discovered 154 new HPM stars from ~55 million stars monitored by the MACHO project. These new objects have proper motions as high as 0.5"/yr, brightnesses ranging from V ~13 to V~19, and V-R colors between 0.3 and 1.45.

- The HPMS3 catalog is a comprehensive list of 90455 stars south of the J2000 celestial equator that have proper motions larger than 150mas/yr. The catalog has been generated as counter-part of the I/298 LSPM-North Catalog by systematic search for high proper motion stars in the GAIA DR2 catalog (Cat. I/345) with Dec<0. The HPMS3 catalog considerably expands the number of high proper motion stars over the existing high proper motion SIMBAD objects in the southern sky by about a factor 2.5. We also provide an estimated V magnitude for all catalog entries mostly calculated from GAIA G-, B- and R-magnitudes. The catalog is estimated to be over 99% complete down to a magnitude V=20 with a gap of about 300 to 400 very high (larger than 600mas/yr) proper motion stars not covered by GAIA DR2. The catalog was cross-matched with other catalogs (2MASS, UCAC4, PS1 and GAIA DR1) and then searched for pairs with a separation of up to 60-arcseconds. 4412 such pairs were identified and assessed for common proper motion and potential gravitational relationship. These pairs were then cross-matched with the Washington Double Star catalog to identify double stars already known resulting in 1623 matches. From the rest we eliminated all pairs with potentially suspect data, especially objects with negative parallaxes or parallaxes smaller than 3 times the given Plx error. In the next steps we eliminated all pairs with parallaxes too different to allow for gravitational relationship considered to be optical even if proper motion data suggested common proper motion pairs. Finally 721 pairs remained considered to be most probably physical pairs or multiples by means of common proper motion and potential gravitational relationship. Additionally 215 pairs with slightly different proper motion data are also considered probably physical as minor differences in proper motion values are probably caused by orbits overlapping the proper motion of the double or multiple star system.

- We have applied the astrometric techniques devised by Murray (1986MNRAS.223..649M) for analysis of 48-inch Schmidt photographic data to SuperCOSMOS scans of UK Schmidt plates centred on Kapteyn's Selected Area 94 (RA=2h53m, DE=0{deg}). In this preliminary study, we combine astrometric data from four short-exposure V-band plates, taken in 1987 August (2 plates) and 1993 August (2 plates), with BVRI photometry from sky-limited plate material, to identify stars with proper motions exceeding 0.1"/yr. This paper discusses the completeness of the resulting sample and presents spectroscopy of 30 stars with {mu}>0.2"/yr. Based on the latter observations and the distribution in the [H_V_, (V-I)] reduced proper-motion diagram, we have classified stars in the complete sample as candidate white dwarfs, main-sequence dwarfs and halo subdwarfs, and derived estimates of the disc and halo luminosity functions.

- We report the discovery of 182 southern stars with proper motion larger than 0.45"/yr. The stars were found in an expansion of the SUPERBLINK proper-motion survey to 8980{deg}^2^ south of DE=-30{deg}. The new high proper motion stars include 123 objects with {mu}>0.5"/yr and 5 with{mu}>1.0"/yr.

- Completion of the SUPERBLINK proper motion survey in the southern celestial hemisphere has turned up 170 new stars with proper motion 0.45"/yr<mu<2.0"/yr. This fourth and final installment completes the all-sky, data mining of the Digitized Sky Surveys for stars with large proper motions. The areas investigated in this final installment comprise 11600deg^-2^ in the declination (DE) range -30{deg}<DE<0{deg} and in low Galactic latitude areas south of DE=-30{deg} which had not been covered in earlier data releases. Astrometric and photometric data are provided for the 170 new stars, along with finder charts. Most of the new discoveries are found in densely populated fields along the Milky Way, toward the Galactic bulge/center. The list of new discoveries includes four stars with proper motion mu>1.0"/yr. The total list of high proper motion stars recovered by SUPERBLINK in the southern sky now includes 2228 stars with proper motions 0.45"/yr<mu<2.0"/yr.
