- Completion of the SUPERBLINK proper motion survey in the southern celestial hemisphere has turned up 170 new stars with proper motion 0.45"/yr<mu<2.0"/yr. This fourth and final installment completes the all-sky, data mining of the Digitized Sky Surveys for stars with large proper motions. The areas investigated in this final installment comprise 11600deg^-2^ in the declination (DE) range -30{deg}<DE<0{deg} and in low Galactic latitude areas south of DE=-30{deg} which had not been covered in earlier data releases. Astrometric and photometric data are provided for the 170 new stars, along with finder charts. Most of the new discoveries are found in densely populated fields along the Milky Way, toward the Galactic bulge/center. The list of new discoveries includes four stars with proper motion mu>1.0"/yr. The total list of high proper motion stars recovered by SUPERBLINK in the southern sky now includes 2228 stars with proper motions 0.45"/yr<mu<2.0"/yr.

- Identification of high-redshift clusters is important for studies of cosmology and cluster evolution. Using photometric redshifts of galaxies, we identify 631 clusters from the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) wide field, 202 clusters from the CFHT deep field, 187 clusters from the Cosmic Evolution Survey (COSMOS) field, and 737 clusters from the Spitzer Wide-area InfraRed Extragalactic Survey (SWIRE) field. The redshifts of these clusters are in the range 0.1<~z<~1.6. Merging these cluster samples gives 1644 clusters in the four survey fields, of which 1088 are newly identified and more than half are from the large SWIRE field. Among 228 clusters of z>=1, 191 clusters are newly identified, and most of them from the SWIRE field. With this large sample of high-redshift clusters, we study the color evolution of the brightest cluster galaxies (BCGs).

- We present an atlas of 88 z~5.7 and 30 z~6.5 Ly{alpha} emitters obtained from a wide-field narrowband survey. We combined deep narrowband imaging in 120{AA} bandpass filters centered at 8150{AA} and 9140{AA} with deep BVRIz broadband imaging to select high-redshift galaxy candidates over an area of 4180arcmin^2^. The goal was to obtain a uniform selection of comparable depth over the seven targeted fields in the two filters. For the GOODS-North region of the Hubble Deep Field-North field, we also selected candidates using a 120{AA} filter centered at 9210{AA}. We made spectroscopic observations with Keck DEIMOS of nearly all the candidates to obtain the final sample of Ly{alpha} emitters. At the 3.3{AA} resolution of the DEIMOS observations the asymmetric profile for Ly{alpha} emission can be clearly seen in the spectra of nearly all the galaxies. We show that the spectral profiles are surprisingly similar for many of the galaxies and that the composite spectral profiles are nearly identical at z=5.7 and z=6.5.

- We present a new measurement of the space density of high-redshift (z~3.0-4.5), X-ray-selected quasi-stellar objects (QSOs) obtained by exploiting the deep and uniform multiwavelength coverage of the COSMOS survey. We have assembled a large (40 objects), homogeneous sample of z>3 QSOs with X-ray flux F0.5-2keV>10^-15^erg/cm^2^/s, and available spectroscopic (22) or photometric (18) redshifts. We discuss their optical (color-color diagrams) and X-ray properties, their number counts and space densities and compare our findings with previous works and model predictions.

- This is the third paper in a series aimed at finding high-redshift quasars from five-color (u'g'r'i'z') imaging data taken along the celestial equator by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) during its commissioning phase. In this paper, we first present the observations of 14 bright, high-redshift quasars (3.66<=z<=4.77, i*<~20) discovered in the SDSS fall equatorial stripe, and the SDSS photometry of two previously known high-redshift quasars in the same region of the sky. Combined with the quasars presented in Paper I (1999AJ....118....1F) and by Schneider et al. (2001AJ....121.1232S), we define a color-selected flux-limited sample of 39 quasars at 3.6<z<5.0 and i*<~20, covering a total effective area of 182deg^2^. From this sample, we estimate the average spectral power-law slope in the rest-frame UV for quasars at z~4 to be -0.79 with a standard deviation of 0.34, and the average rest-frame equivalent width of the Ly{alpha}+N V emission line to be 69{AA} with a standard deviation of 18{AA}. Based on observations obtained with the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, with the Apache Point Observatory 3.5m telescope.

- * Aims: We present a compilation of spectroscopic data from a survey of 144 chromospherically active young stars in the solar neighborhood which may be used to investigate different aspects of the formation and evolution of the solar neighborhood in terms of kinematics and stellar formation history. The data have already been used by us in several studies. With this paper, we make all these data accessible to the scientific community for future studies on different topics. * Methods: We performed spectroscopic observations with echelle spectrographs to cover the entirety of the optical spectral range simultaneously. Standard data reduction was performed with the IRAF echelle package. We applied the spectral subtraction technique to reveal chromospheric emission in the stars of the sample. The equivalent width of chromospheric emission lines was measured in the subtracted spectra and then converted to fluxes using equivalent width--flux relationships. Radial and rotational velocities were determined by the cross-correlation technique. Kinematics, equivalent widths of the lithium line 6707.8{AA} and spectral types were also determined. * Results: A catalog of spectroscopic data is compiled: radial and rotational velocities, space motion, equivalent widths of optical chromospheric activity indicators from Ca II H & K to the calcium infrared triplet and the lithium line in 6708{AA}. Fluxes in the chromospheric emission lines and R'_HK are also determined for each observation of star in the sample. We used these data to investigate the emission levels of our stars. The study of the H{alpha} emission line revealed the presence of two different populations of chromospheric emitters in the sample, clearly separated in the log(F_H{alpha}_/F_bol_)-(V-J) diagram. The dichotomy may be associated with the age of the stars.

- We present a catalog of high-velocity clouds (HVCs) from the Galactic All Sky Survey (GASS) of southern sky neutral hydrogen, which has 57mK sensitivity and 1 km/s velocity resolution and was obtained with the Parkes Telescope. Our catalog has been derived from the stray-radiation-corrected second release of GASS. We describe the data and our method of identifying HVCs and analyze the overall properties of the GASS population. We catalog a total of 1693 HVCs at declinations <0{deg}, including 1111 positive velocity HVCs and 582 negative velocity HVCs. Our catalog also includes 295 anomalous velocity clouds (AVCs). The cloud line-widths of our HVC population have a median FWHM of ~19 km/s, which is lower than that found in previous surveys. The completeness of our catalog is above 95% based on comparison with the HIPASS catalog of HVCs upon which we improve by an order of magnitude in spectral resolution. We find 758 new HVCs and AVCs with no HIPASS counterpart. The GASS catalog will shed unprecedented light on the distribution and kinematic structure of southern sky HVCs, as well as delve further into the cloud populations that make up the anomalous velocity gas of the Milky Way.

- We have conducted the first blind HI survey covering 480deg^2^ and a heliocentric velocity range from 300 to 1900km/s to investigate the HI content of the nearby spiral-rich Ursa Major region and to look for previously uncatalogued gas-rich objects. Here we present the catalogue of HI sources. The HI data were obtained with the four-beam receiver mounted on the 76.2-m Lovell telescope [full width at half-maximum (FWHM) 12-arcmin] at the Jodrell Bank Observatory (UK) as part of the HI Jodrell All Sky Survey (HIJASS). We use the automated source finder DUCHAMP and identify 166 HI sources in the data cubes with HI masses in the range of 107-1010.5M_{sun}_. Our Ursa Major HI catalogue includes 10 first-time detections in the 21-cm emission line. We identify optical counterparts for 165 HI sources (99%). For 54 HI sources (~33%) we find numerous optical counterparts in the HIJASS beam, indicating a high density of galaxies and likely tidal interactions. Four of these HI systems are discussed in detail. We find only one HI source (1%) without a visible optical counterpart out of the 166 HI detections. Green Bank Telescope (FWHM 9-arcmin) follow-up observations confirmed this HI source and its HI properties. The nature of this detection is discussed and compared to similar sources in other HI surveys.

- Details are presented of the H I Jodrell All Sky Survey (HIJASS). HIJASS is a blind neutral hydrogen (H I) survey of the northern sky ({delta}>22{deg}), being conducted using the multibeam receiver on the Lovell Telescope (full width at half-maximum beamwidth 12-arcmin) at Jodrell Bank. HIJASS covers the velocity range -3500 to 10000 km/s, with a velocity resolution of 18.1km/s and spatial positional accuracy of ~2.5arcmin. Thus far about 1115 deg^2^ of sky have been surveyed. The average rms noise during the early part of the survey was around 16mJy/beam Following the first phase of the Lovell Telescope upgrade (in 2001), the rms noise is now around 13mJy/beam. We describe the methods of detecting galaxies within the HIJASS data and of measuring their H I parameters. The properties of the resulting H I-selected sample of galaxies are described. Of the 222 sources so far confirmed, 170 (77 per cent) are clearly associated with a previously catalogued galaxy. A further 23 sources (10 per cent) lie close (within 6 arcmin) to a previously catalogued galaxy for which no previous redshift exists. A further 29 sources (13 per cent) do not appear to be associated with any previously catalogued galaxy.
