- The U.S. Naval Observatory is in the process of making new reductions of the Astrographic Catalogue (AC) using a modern reference system, the ACRS, which represents the system of the FK5. The data from the Algiers Zone, whose plates are centered between declinations -2 and +4 degrees (eq. 1900), have been analyzed for scale, rotation, tilt, coma, magnitude equation, radial distortion and distortions introduced by the use of reseaux in the Carte du Ciel program. The result is a positional catalog of over 199,000 stars on eq. J2000.0, epoch of observation. The plate were exposed between 1891 and 1912. For cross-identification purposes, all stars have been matched with the Tycho Input Catalog (revised); those numbers have been added to each record.

- This machine-readable version of the Astrographic Catalogue (AC), zones +01 to +31 degrees is the result of the determination of mean values for position and magnitude at a mean epoch of observation for each unique star in the original catalogs. The zones considered here (Oxford, Paris, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Algiers [partial]) contained 1,870,976 individual measures, from which the catalog of mean data for 1,025,208 stars was derived. Further analysis by Dr. D.W. Dunham and at the ADC yielded an additional 27897 apparently duplicate entries, which were eliminated to produce the final catalog. The estimated mean standard errors for positional and magnitude data are 0.4 arcsec in each coordinate and 0.4 mag, respectively. Data in this version include <m(pg)>, <Epoch>, <RA> at mean epoch, <DEC> at mean epoch. The mean values are unweighted. No star identifications are provided; hence the user must select stars from the catalog and then identify them in other catalogs or on charts using the equatorial coordinates.

- During four years, systematic observations have been conducted in drift scan mode with the Bordeaux automated meridian circle in the declination band [+11 ; +18]. The resulting astrometric catalog includes about 2 300 000 stars down to the magnitude limit V_M_=16.3. Nearly all stars (96%) have been observed at least 6 times, the catalog being complete down to V_M_=15.4. The median internal standard error in position is about 35mas in the magnitude range 11<V_M_<15, which degrades to about 50mas when the faintest stars are considered. M2000 provides also one band photometry with a median internal standard error of 0.04mag. Comparisons with the Hipparcos and bright part of Tycho-2 catalogs have enabled to estimate external errors in position to be lower than 40mas. In this zone and at epoch 1998, the faint part of Tycho-2 is found to have an accuracy of 116mas in alpha instead of 82mas deduced from the model-based standard errors given in the catalog.

- The AC 2000.2 is a revised version of the 1997 release of the AC 2000 (Cat. <I/247>). It was decided that the availability of an improved reference catalogue and the inclusion of photometry from the Tycho-2 catalogue would be sufficient to warrant a complete re-reduction of the data and a new distribution of the catalogue. The AC 2000.2 catalog contains positions of 4,621,751 stars at the average epoch of plate exposures for each star (average 1907).
