- We have obtained the first UBV(RI)C photoelectric light curves of the recently discovered eclipsing binary BD+66 1663 = GSC 4479 412 (P=7.04d, V=10.14). We have derived relative and absolute parameters of the binary, and analyzed the interstellar extinction towards the object. Though the star is located in the field of the young open cluster Be 59, we demonstrate that it is not a member.

- We present deep UBV(RI)C charge-coupled device (CCD) photometry for the young open star clusters Tr 1 and Be 11. The CCD data for Be 11 are obtained for the first time. The sample consists of ~1500 stars reaching down to V~21mag. Analysis of the radial distribution of the stellar surface density indicates that radius values for Tr 1 and Be 11 are 2.3 and 1.5pc, respectively. The interstellar extinction across the face of the imaged clusters region seems to be non-uniform with a mean value of E(B-V)=0.60+/-0.05 and 0.95+/-0.05mag for Tr 1 and Be 11, respectively. A random positional variation of E(B-V) is present in both the clusters. In the cluster Be 11, the reason for the random positional variation may be the apparent association of the H II region (S 213). The 2MASS JHK data in combination with the optical data in the cluster Be 11 yield E(J-K)=0.40+/-0.20mag and E(V-K)=2.20+/-0.20mag. Colour excess diagrams indicate a normal interstellar extinction law in the direction of the cluster Be 11.

- We analyse CCD broad band (UBV(RI)c) photometric data obtained in the fields of the poorly studied open clusters NGC 2425 and NGC 2635. Both clusters are found to be of intermediate age thus increasing the population of open clusters known to be of the age of, or older than, the Hyades. More explicitly, we find that NGC 2425 is a 2.2Gyr old cluster, probably of solar metallicity, located at 3.5kpc from the Sun. NGC 2635 is a Hyades age (600Myr) cluster located at a distance of 4.0kpc from the Sun. Its Colour Magnitude Diagram reveals that it is extremely metal poor for its age and position, thus making it a very interesting object in the context of Galactic Disk chemical evolution models.

- The periodic events occurring in {eta} Carinae have been widely monitored during the last three 5.5-year cycles. The last one recently occurred in January 2009 and more exhaustive observations have been made at different wavelength ranges. If these events are produced when the binary components approach periastron, the timing and sampling of the photometric features can provide more information about the geometry and physics of the system. Thus, we continued with our ground-based optical photometric campaign started in 2003 to record the behaviour of the 2009.0 event in detail. This time the observation program included a new telescope to obtain information from other photometric bands. The daily monitoring consists of the acquisition of CCD images through standard UBVRI filters and a narrow H{alpha} passband. The subsequent differential photometry includes the central region of the object and the whole Homunculus nebula. The results of our relative UBVRIH{alpha} photometry, performed from November 2008 up to the end of March 2009, are presented in this work, which comprises the totality of the event. The initial rising branch, the maximum, the dip to the minimum and the recovering rising phase strongly resemble a kind of eclipse. All these features happened on time - according to that predicted - although there are some photometric differences in comparison with the previous event. We made a new determination of 2022.8 days for the period value using the present and previous "eclipse-like" event data. These results strongly support the binarity hypothesis for {eta} Car. In this paper, the complete dataset with the photometry of the 2009.0 event is provided to make it readily available for further analysis.

- RR Gem is one of the few Blazhko RR Lyrae which has extended enough photometric observations available to study the long-term courses of its pulsation and modulation properties in detail. We investigate the pulsation and modulation properties and the relations between them in RR Gem using the last 70 years' photometric observations in order to gain further insight into the nature of the Blazhko modulation. Photographic, photoelectric and CCD light curves obtained at the Konkoly Observatory and other authors' published maxima observations are studied. Detailed analysis of the light curves, maximum brightness and O-C data are carried out.

- We present CCD UBVI photometric and medium/high resolution spectroscopic observations obtained in the field of the previously unstudied dissolving open cluster candidates NGC 5385, NGC 2664 and Collinder 21. Our analysis is based on the discussion of star counts, photometry, radial velocity distribution, and proper motions available from the Tycho 2 catalogue (<I/259>). All three aggregates clearly emerge from the mean Galactic field, but, regrettably, the close scrutiny of proper motions and radial velocities reveals that we are not facing any physical group. Instead, what we are looking at are just chance alignments of a few bright unrelated stars. Our analysis casts some doubt on the Bica et al. (2001A&A...366..827B) criterion to look for Possible Open Cluster Remnants. It seems mandatory to define a better criterion to adopt for further investigations.

The fundamental parameters of interstellar reddening, distance and age have been derived, and also the metallicity for NGC 2192 (solar metallicity has been assumed for the other two).

- We present UBVRI photometry of the open cluster NGC 2422 (age~10^8^yr) down to a limiting magnitude V=~19. These data are used to derive the Luminosity and Mass Functions and to study the cluster spatial distribution. By considering the color-magnitude diagram data and adopting a representative cluster main sequence, we obtained a list of candidate cluster members based on a photometric criterion.
