- We have studied over 1600 Am stars at a photometric precision of 1mmag with SuperWASP photometric data. Contrary to previous belief, we find that around 200 Am stars are pulsating delta Sct and gamma Dor stars, with low amplitudes that have been missed in previous, less extensive studies. While the amplitudes are generally low, the presence of pulsation in Am stars places a strong constraint on atmospheric convection, and may require the pulsation to be laminar. While some pulsating Am stars have been previously found to be delta Sct stars, the vast majority of Am stars known to pulsate are presented in this paper. They will form the basis of future statistical studies of pulsation in the presence of atomic diffusion.

- The results of a major search for photometrically variable blue straggler stars (BSs) in the extremely metal-poor globular cluster NGC 5053 are presented. The survey is based on photometry of over 200 CCD frames (BVI passbands) taken on 18 nights between 1985 and 1994. Five of the 16 BSs monitored for variability are identified as SX Phe stars and their photometric characteristics derived. These five stars are among the shortest-period (49<P<57min), lowest luminosity (3.0<~M_V<~3.3mag), smallest amplitude (0.08<~A_V<~0.25mag) SX Phe stars presently known. Their colors and locations in both B and V period-luminosity (P-L) diagrams suggest that four of the stars (blue stragglers 11, 13, 14, and 15 in the Nemec & Cohen 1989 catalog (1989ApJ...336..780N) are fundamental-mode pulsators, while the fifth and bluest star, No. 7, appears to be a first-overtone pulsator. One of the stars, No. 11, exhibits cycle-to-cycle light variations that are consistent with multimode pulsations; however, not enough photometric information is available to derive its secondary pulsation period. Masses for the stars, estimated directly from the general equation of stellar pulsation and relative to the RR Lyrae stars, range from 0.53M_{sun}_ (NC7) to 1.8M_{sun}_ (NC13). The SX Phe stars are used to derive improved P-L-[Fe/H] relations for SX Phe stars, from which a revised distance modulus of (m-M)0=16.06 is obtained for NGC 5053.

- Multiband CCD photometric observations of SZ Her were obtained between 2008 February and May. The light curve was completely covered and indicated a significant temperature difference between both components. The light-curve synthesis presented in this paper indicates that the eclipsing binary is a classical Algol-type system with parameters of q=0.472, i=87.57{deg}, and {Delta}(T_1_-T_2_)=2381K; the primary component fills approximately 77% of its limiting lobe and is slightly larger than the lobe-filling secondary component. More than 1100 times of minimum light spanning more than a century were used to study an orbital behavior of the binary system. It was found that the orbital period of SZ Her varied due to a combination of two periodic variations with cycle lengths of P_3_=85.8yr and P_4_=42.5yr and semi-amplitudes of K_3_=0.013days and K_4_=0.007days, respectively. The most reasonable explanation for these variations is a pair of light-time effects driven by the possible existence of two M-type companions with minimum masses of M_3_=0.22M_{sun}_ and M_4_=0.19M_{sun}_ that are located close to the 2:1 mean motion resonance. If two additional bodies exist, then the overall dynamics of the multiple system may provide a significant clue to the formation and evolution of the eclipsing pair.

- The Amateur Sky Survey (TASS) is a loose confederation of amateur and professional astronomers. We describe the design and construction of our Mark III system, a set of wide-field drift-scan CCD cameras which monitor the celestial equator down to 13th magnitude in several passbands. We explain the methods by which images are gathered, processed, and reduced into lists of stellar positions and magnitudes. Over the period 1996 October to 1998 November, we compiled a large database of photometric measurements. One of our results is the tenxcat catalog, which contains measurements on the standard Johnson-Cousins system for 367,241 stars; it contains links to the light curves of these stars as well.

- We present for the first time optical colour magnitude diagrams of the globular cluster Terzan 2, in the V, I colours. The horizontal branch is red. The red giant branch morphology can be fitted with that of 47 Tuc, but definitely not th at of NGC 6553. We derive a reddening of E(B-V)=1.54 and a distance d_{sun}_=7.7kpc if R=3.1, or 5.3kpc if R=3.6. Terzan 2 adds to the list of bulge metal-rich clusters now with reliable parameters.

- We search for signs of falling evaporating bodies (FEBs, also known as exocomets) in photometric time series obtained for {beta} Pictoris after fitting and removing its {delta} Scuti-type pulsation frequencies. Using photometric data obtained by the TESS satellite we determined the pulsational properties of the exoplanet host star {beta} Pictoris through frequency analysis. We then pre-whitened the 54 identified {delta} Scuti p-modes and investigated the residual photometric time series for the presence of FEBs. We identify three distinct dipping events in the light curve of {beta} Pictoris over a 105-day period. These dips have depths from 0.5 to 2-millimagnitudes and durations of up to 2-days for the largest dip. These dips are asymmetric in nature and are consistent with a model of an evaporating comet with an extended tail crossing the disc of the star. We present the first broadband detections of exocomets crossing the disc of {beta} Pictoris, complementing the predictions made 20 years earlier by Lecavelier Des Etangs et al. (1999A&A...343..916L). No periodic transits are seen in this time series. These observations confirm the spectroscopic detection of exocomets in calcium H and K lines that have been seen in high resolution spectroscopy.

- Since 2009 the Grossschwabhausen binary survey is carried out at the University Observatory Jena. This new imaging survey uses available time slots during photometric monitoring campaigns, caused by non-photometric weather conditions, which often exhibit a good atmospheric seeing. The goal of the project is to obtain current relative astrometric measurements of binary systems, that are listed in the Washington Visual Double Star Catalog. In this paper we characterize the target sample of the survey, describe the imaging observations, the astrometric measurements including the astrometric calibration, and present relative astrometric measures of all binaries, which could be obtained in the course of the survey, so far.

- On 28th January 2018, the large Trans-Neptunian Object 2002 TC_302_ occulted a m_v_~15.3 star with designation 593-005847 in the UCAC4 stellar catalog, corresponding to Gaia source 130957813463146112. Twelve positive occultation chords were obtained from Italy, France, Slovenia and Switzerland. Also, four negative detections were obtained near the north and south limbs. This represents the best observed stellar occultation by a TNO other than Pluto in terms of the number of chords published thus far. From the twelve chords, an accurate elliptical fit to the instantaneous projection of the body can be obtained, compatible with the near misses. The resulting ellipse has major and minor axes of 543+/-18km and 460+/-11km, respectively, with a position angle of 3+/-1 degrees for the minor axis. This information, combined with rotational light curves obtained with the 1.5-m telescope at Sierra Nevada Observatory and the 1.23-m telescope at Calar Alto observatory, allows us to derive possible three-dimensional shapes and density estimations for the body based on hydrostatic equilibrium assumptions. The effective diameter in equivalent area is around 84km smaller than the radiometrically derived diameter using thermal data from Herschel and Spitzer Space Telescopes. This might indicate the existence of an unresolved satellite of up to ~300km in diameter, to account for all the thermal flux, although the occultation and thermal diameters are compatible within their error bars given the considerable uncertainty of the thermal results. The existence of a potential satellite also appears to be consistent with other ground-based data presented here. From the effective occultation diameter combined with absolute magnitude measurements we derive a geometric albedo of 0.147+/-0.005, which would be somewhat smaller if 2002 TC_302_ has a satellite. The best occultation light curves do not show any signs of ring features or any signatures of a global atmosphere.
