- We observed comet C/2004 Q2 (Machholz) with the Keck II telescope in late 2005 January and we obtained the spectra of C/2004 Q2 including many emission lines of volatile species such as H_2_O, HCN, C_2_H_2_, NH_3_, CH_4_, C_2_H_6_, CH_3_OH, and H_2_CO with high-signal-to-noise ratios. Based on our observations, we determined the mixing ratios of the molecules relative to H_2_O in C/2004 Q2. C/2004 Q2 might be the intermediate type between Oort Cloud and Jupiter Family comets. To investigate the formation conditions of such intermediate type comet, we focused on the (C_2_H_2_+C_2_H_6_)/H_2_O ratios and C_2_H_6_/(C_2_H_6_+C_2_H_2_) ratios in comets from the viewpoint of conversion from C_2_H_2_ to C_2_H_6_ in the precometary ices. We employed the dynamical-evolutional model and the chemical-evolutional model to determine the formation region of C/2004 Q2 more precisely. We found that comet C/2004 Q2 might have formed in relatively inner region of the solar nebula than the typical Oort Cloud comet (but slightly further than 5AU from the proto-Sun).

- The Solar system's Oort cloud can be perturbed by the Galactic tide and by individual passing stars. These perturbations can inject Oort cloud objects into the inner parts of the Solar system, where they may be observed as the long-period comets (periods longer than 200yr). Using dynamical simulations of the Oort cloud under the perturbing effects of the tide and 61 known stellar encounters, we investigate the link between long-period comets and encounters. We find that past encounters were responsible for injecting at least 5 percent of the currently known long-period comets. This is a lower limit due to the incompleteness of known encounters. Although the Galactic tide seems to play the dominant role in producing the observed long-period comets, the non-uniform longitude distribution of the cometary perihelia suggests the existence of strong - but as yet unidentified - stellar encounters or other impulses. The strongest individual future and past encounters are probably HIP 89825 (Gliese 710) and HIP 14473, which contribute at most 8 and 6 percent to the total flux of long-period comets, respectively. Our results show that the strength of an encounter can be approximated well by a simple proxy, which will be convenient for quickly identifying significant encounters in large data sets. Our analysis also indicates a smaller population of the Oort cloud than is usually assumed, which would bring the mass of the solar nebula into line with planet formation theories.

- We search for signs of falling evaporating bodies (FEBs, also known as exocomets) in photometric time series obtained for {beta} Pictoris after fitting and removing its {delta} Scuti-type pulsation frequencies. Using photometric data obtained by the TESS satellite we determined the pulsational properties of the exoplanet host star {beta} Pictoris through frequency analysis. We then pre-whitened the 54 identified {delta} Scuti p-modes and investigated the residual photometric time series for the presence of FEBs. We identify three distinct dipping events in the light curve of {beta} Pictoris over a 105-day period. These dips have depths from 0.5 to 2-millimagnitudes and durations of up to 2-days for the largest dip. These dips are asymmetric in nature and are consistent with a model of an evaporating comet with an extended tail crossing the disc of the star. We present the first broadband detections of exocomets crossing the disc of {beta} Pictoris, complementing the predictions made 20 years earlier by Lecavelier Des Etangs et al. (1999A&A...343..916L). No periodic transits are seen in this time series. These observations confirm the spectroscopic detection of exocomets in calcium H and K lines that have been seen in high resolution spectroscopy.

- Jupiter Family comets (JFCs) are short period comets which have recently entered the inner solar system, having previously orbited in the Kuiper Belt since the formation of the planets. We used two nights on the 3.6 m New Technology Telescope (NTT) at the European Southern Observatory, to obtain VRI photometry of three JFCs; 7P/Pons-Winnecke, 14P/Wolf and 92P/Sanguin. These were observed to be stellar in appearance.

- The populations of small bodies of the Solar System (asteroids, comets, and Kuiper Belt objects) are used to constrain the origin and evolution of the Solar System. Their orbital distribution and composition distribution are both required to track the dynamical pathway from their formation regions to their current locations. We aim to increase the sample of Solar System objects (SSOs) that have multifilter photometry and compositional taxonomy. Methods. We searched for moving objects in the SkyMapper Southern Survey. We used the predicted SSO positions to extract photometry and astrometry from the SkyMapper frames. We then applied a suite of filters to clean the catalog from false-positive detections. We finally used the near-simultaneous photometry to assign a taxonomic class to objects. We release a catalog of 880,528 individual observations, consisting of 205515 known and unique SSOs. The catalog completeness is estimated to be about 97% down to V=18mag and the purity is higher than 95% for known SSOs. The near-simultaneous photometry provides either three, two, or a single color that we use to classify 117356 SSOs with a scheme consistent with the widely used Bus-DeMeo taxonomy. The present catalog contributes significantly to the sample of asteroids with known surface properties (about 40% of main-belt asteroids down to an absolute magnitude of 16). We will release more observations of SSOs with future SkyMapper data releases.

- We report the results of the long-term narrowband photometry and imaging monitoring of comet C/2012 F6 (Lemmon) with the robotic TRAPPIST telescope (La Silla observatory). Observations covered 52 nights pre- and post-perihelion between December 11, 2012 and June 11, 2013. We followed the evolution of the OH, NH, CN, C_3_ and C_2_ production rates computed with the Haser model as well as the evolution of the A({theta})f_{rho}_ parameter as a proxy for the dust production. All five gas species display similar slopes for the heliocentric dependence. An asymmetry about perihelion is observed, the rate of brightening being steeper than the rate of fading. The chemical composition of the comet's coma is changing slightly along the orbit: the relative abundance of C_2_ to CN is decreasing for heliocentric distances larger than 1.4AU while the C_3_ to CN ratio is constant during our observations. The behavior of the dust is different from that of the gas, the slope of the heliocentric dependence becoming steeper in early February, correlated to a change of the visual lightcurve slope. However, the dust color does not vary during the observations. The application of several enhancement techniques on the images revealed structures in the CN, C3 and C2 images. These features imply the existence of one or several active zone(s) on the comet nucleus. The shape of the structures is similar in those three filters and changes from a roughly hourglass shape in December and January to a corkscrew shape in February and March. The structures in the continuum filters (sampling the dust) are not correlated to those observed for the gas. During several full nights in February, we observed changes in the CN and C2 structures repeating periodically due to the nucleus rotation, our derived rotational period being of 9.52+/-0.05 hours.

- We discuss the possible nature of unidentified cometary emission lines. We propose a model of the ice particles in cometary halos as a mixture of frozen polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and acyclic hydrocarbons. We describe the general properties of frozen hydrocarbon particles (FHPs) and suggest interpreting some of the unidentified cometary emission lines as the photoluminescence of FHPs. We compare the position of quasi-lines in the spectrum of Comet 122P/de Vico with the position of quasi-lines in the photoluminescence spectrum of PAHs that were dissolved in acyclic hydrocarbons at a temperature of 77K and that constituted a polycrystalline solution. We estimated the detectability of FHP photoluminescence in cometary spectra.

- The ephemeris were produced by simulating the ejection of meteoroids from the sunlit hemisphere of cometary nuclei, typically from 0 to 3 au, followed by the propagation of orbits of meteoroids in the Solar System, taking into account the gravity of the Sun, the 8 planets, Pluto, and the Moon, as well as the radiation pressure and the Poynting-Robertson drag. Note that asteroid parent bodies were considered as active (i.e. comet-like bodies) even if they are not active today. The showers are predicted when a planet enters a large enough set of meteoroids, at a distance less than typically 0.01 au.
