- We use the dense HectoMAP redshift survey to explore the properties of 104 redMaPPer cluster candidates. The redMaPPer systems in HectoMAP cover the full range of richness and redshift (0.08<z<0.60). Fifteen of the systems included in the Subaru/Hyper Suprime-Cam public data release are bona fide clusters. The median number of spectroscopic members per cluster is ~20. We include redshifts of 3547 member candidates listed in the redMaPPer catalog whether they are cluster members or not. We evaluate the redMaPPer membership probability spectroscopically. The purity (number of real systems) in redMaPPer exceeds 90% even at the lowest richness. Three massive galaxy clusters (M~2x10^13^M_{sun}_) associated with X-ray emission in the HectoMAP region are not included in the public redMaPPer catalog with {lambda}_rich_>20, because they lie outside the cuts for this catalog.

- We apply a friends-of-friends algorithm to the HectoMAP redshift survey and cross-identify associated X-ray emission in the ROSAT All-Sky Survey data (RASS). The resulting flux-limited catalog of X-ray cluster surveys is complete to a limiting flux of ~3x10^-13^erg/s/cm^2^ and includes 15 clusters (7 newly discovered) with redshifts z<=0.4. HectoMAP is a dense survey (~1200 galaxies deg^-2^) that provides ~50 members (median) in each X-ray cluster. We provide redshifts for the 1036 cluster members. Subaru/Hyper Suprime-Cam imaging covers three of the X-ray systems and confirms that they are impressive clusters. The HectoMAP X-ray clusters have an LX-{sigma}cl scaling relation similar to that of known massive X-ray clusters. The HectoMAP X-ray cluster sample predicts ~12000+/-3000 detectable X-ray clusters in RASS to the limiting flux, comparable with previous estimates.

- We describe the Herschel Virgo Cluster Survey and the first data that cover the complete survey area (four 4x4deg^2^ regions). We use these data to measure and compare the global far-infrared properties of 78 optically bright galaxies that are selected at 500um and detected in all five far-infrared bands. We show that our measurements and calibration are broadly consistent with previous data obtained by the IRAS, ISO, Spitzer and Planck. We use SPIRE and PACS photometry data to produce 100-, 160-, 250-, 350- and 500-um cluster luminosity distributions.

- We have measured the relationships between HI mass, stellar mass, and star formation rate using the HI Parkes All-Sky Survey Catalog (HICAT) and the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). Of the 3513 HICAT sources, we find 3.4{mu}m counterparts for 2896 sources (80%), and provide new WISE-matched aperture photometry for these galaxies. For our principal sample of spiral galaxies with W1<=10mag and z<=0.01, we identify HI detections for 93% of the sample. We measure lower HI-stellar mass relationships for HI-selected samples that do not include spiral galaxies with little HI gas. Our observations of the spiral sample show that HI mass increases with stellar mass with a power-law index of 0.35; however, this value is dependent on T-type, which affects both the median and the dispersion of HI mass. We also observe an upper limit on the HI gas fraction, which is consistent with a halo spin parameter model. We measure the star formation efficiency of spiral galaxies to be constant at 10^-9.57^yr^-1^+/-0.4dex for 2.5 orders of magnitude in stellar mass, despite the higher stellar mass spiral showing evidence of quenched star formation.

- Using archival data from the Chandra X-ray telescope, we have measured the spatial extent of the hot interstellar gas in a sample of 49 nearby interacting galaxy pairs, mergers, and merger remnants. For systems with SFR>1 M_{sun}_/yr, the volume and mass of hot gas are strongly and linearly correlated with the star formation rate (SFR). This supports the idea that stellar/supernovae feedback dominates the production of hot gas in these galaxies. We compared the mass of X-ray-emitting hot gas M_X_(gas) with the molecular and atomic hydrogen interstellar gas masses in these galaxies (M_H2_ and M_HI_, respectively), using published carbon monoxide and 21 cm H I measurements. Systems with higher SFRs have larger M_X_(gas)/(M_H2_ + M_HI_) ratios on average, in agreement with recent numerical simulations of star formation and feedback in merging galaxies. The M_X_(gas)/(M_H2_ + M_HI_) ratio also increases with dust temperature on average. The ratio M_X_(gas)/SFR is anticorrelated with the Infrared Astronomical Satellite 60-100 {mu}m flux ratio and with the Spitzer 3.6-24 {mu}m color. These trends may be due to variations in the spatial density of young stars, the stellar age, the ratio of young to old stars, the initial mass function, and/or the efficiency of stellar feedback. Galaxies with low SFR (<1 M_{sun}_/yr) and high K band luminosities may have an excess of hot gas relative to the relation for higher SFR galaxies, while galaxies with low K band luminosities (and therefore low stellar masses) may have a deficiency in hot gas, but our sample is not large enough for strong statistical significance.

- The energetic feedback that is generated by radio jets in active galactic nuclei (AGNs) has been suggested to be able to produce fast outflows of atomic hydrogen (HI) gas which can be studied in absorption at high spatial resolution. We have used the Very Large Array (VLA) and a global very-long-baseline-interferometry (VLBI) array to locate and study in detail the HI outflow discovered with the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope (WSRT) in the restarted radio galaxy 3C 236. Based on the VLA data, the presence of a blue-shifted wing of the HI with a width of ~1000km/s. This HI outflow is partially recovered by the VLBI observation. In particular, we detect four clouds with masses of 0.28-1.5x10^4^M_{sun}_ with VLBI that do not follow the regular rotation of most of the HI. Three of these clouds are located, in projection, against the nuclear region on scales of <~40pc, while the fourth is cospatial to the southeast lobe at a projected distance of ~270pc. Their velocities are between 150 and 640km/s blueshifted with respect to the velocity of the disk-related HI. These findings suggest that the outflow is at least partly formed by clouds, as predicted by some numerical simulations, and that it originates already in the inner (few tens of pc) region of the radio galaxy. Our results indicate that the entire outflow might consist of many clouds, possibly with comparable properties as those clearly detected, but also distributed at larger radii from the nucleus where the lower brightness of the lobe does not allow us to detect them. However, we cannot rule out a diffuse component of the outflow. Because 3C 236 is a low excitation radio galaxy, it is less likely that the optical AGN is able to produce strong radiative winds. This leaves the radio jet as the main driver for the HI outflow.

- To complement the study of transient phenomena and to assist subsequent observations in the mid-infrared, we extract point source photometry from archival mosaics of nearby galaxies with high star formation rates within 4 Mpc. Point spread function photometry was performed on sources detected in both Spitzer IRAC 3.6um and 4.5um bands at greater than 3{sigma} above background. These data were then supplemented by aperture photometry in the IRAC 5.8um and 8.0um bands conducted at the positions of the shorter wavelength sources. For sources with no detected object in the longer wavelengths, we estimated magnitude limits based on the local sky background.

- The second catalog of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) detected by the Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) in two years of scientific operation is presented. The second LAT AGN catalog (2LAC) includes 1017 {gamma}-ray sources located at high Galactic latitudes (|b|>10{deg}) that are detected with a test statistic (TS) greater than 25 and associated statistically with AGNs. However, some of these are affected by analysis issues and some are associated with multiple AGNs. Consequently, we define a Clean Sample which includes 886 AGNs, comprising 395 BL Lacertae objects (BL Lac objects), 310 flat-spectrum radio quasars (FSRQs), 157 candidate blazars of unknown type (i.e., with broadband blazar characteristics but with no optical spectral measurement yet), 8 misaligned AGNs, 4 narrow-line Seyfert 1 (NLS1s), 10 AGNs of other types, and 2 starburst galaxies. Where possible, the blazars have been further classified based on their spectral energy distributions (SEDs) as archival radio, optical, and X-ray data permit. While almost all FSRQs have a synchrotron-peak frequency <10^14^Hz, about half of the BL Lac objects have a synchrotron-peak frequency >10^15^Hz. The 2LAC represents a significant improvement relative to the first LAT AGN catalog (1LAC), with 52% more associated sources. The full characterization of the newly detected sources will require more broadband data. Various properties, such as {gamma}-ray fluxes and photon power-law spectral indices, redshifts, {gamma}-ray luminosities, variability, and archival radio luminosities and their correlations are presented and discussed for the different blazar classes. The general trends observed in 1LAC are confirmed.

- We present data from a moderately deep spectroscopic Schmidt survey (B_lim_=17.5) of "active galaxies" selected by the presence of emission lines in their spectra and/or their UV excess. 92 emission line objects have been found in two adjacent fields (approximately 50deg^2^) in the direction of the southern extension of the Virgo cluster. We give a catalog containing positions, photographic R and B magnitudes, U-R colors, effective diameters, redshifts, equivalent widths and intensity ratios of the [OIII]{lambda}{lambda}4959,5007, H{beta} and [OII]{lambda}3727 emission lines. On these fields, we evaluate the completeness limit of the survey at a pseudo B magnitude values of 15.7. A more elaborate astrophysical analysis will appear in a forthcoming paper.

- Between 1997 June and 2001 February the Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS) collected 25.4 Tbytes of raw imaging data covering 99.998% of the celestial sphere in the near-infrared J(1.25{mu}m), H(1.65{mu}m), and Ks(2.16{mu}m) bandpasses. Observations were conducted from two dedicated 1.3 m diameter telescopes located at Mount Hopkins, Arizona, and Cerro Tololo, Chile. The 2MASS All-Sky Data Release includes the FITS images covering the entire sky, a Point Source Catalog (PSC) of 471 million sources (Cat. II/242), and the present Extended Source Catalog. The 2MASS Extended Source Catalog contains sources that are extended with respect to the instantaneous PSF, such as galaxies and Galactic nebulae. The algorithms used to create the 2MASX catalog are described by Jarett et al. (2000AJ....119.2498J), and in the 2MASS Explanatory Supplement (accessible from the 2MASS Home Page). Briefly, point/ extended-source discrimination was conducted for each band-merged point-source detection by comparing a variety of radial shape, surface brightness, image moments, and symmetry parameters with characteristic stellar parameters using an oblique decision tree classifier. The classification tests included filters to exclude double and triple stars, which were one of the main contaminants in high source density regions. Stellar parameters were measured empirically as a function of time in each scan to compensate for variations in the atmospheric seeing using the aggregate properties of band-merged point-source extractions. The catalog contains 389 columns described briefly in the "Byte-by-byte Description" section below; their description includes also the 2MASS database original column names used in the original descriptions.
