- Photometric calibration at an accuracy of ~5% in an arbitrary celestial location is frequently needed. However, existing all-sky astronomical catalogue do not reach this accuracy, and time consuming photometric calibration procedures are required. I fitted the Hipparcos B_T_, and V_T_ magnitudes, along with the 2MASS J, H, and K magnitudes of Tycho-2 catalog-stars with stellar spectral templates. From the best fit spectral template derived for each star, I calculated its synthetic SDSS griz magnitudes, and constructed an all-sky catalog of griz magnitudes of bright stars (V<12). Testing this method on SDSS photometric telescope observations, I find that the photometric accuracy, for a single star, is usually about 0.12, 0.12, 0.10 and 0.08 mag (1sigma), for the g, r, i, and z-bands, respectively. However, by using ~10 such stars, the typical errors per calibrated field (systematic + statistical) can be reduced to about 0.04, 0.03, 0.02, and 0.02 mag, in the g, r, i, and z-bands, respectively. Therefore, in cases for which several calibration stars can be observed in the field of view of an instrument, it is possible to photometrically calibrate the image.

- We present the multiwavelength ultraviolet to mid-infrared catalog of the UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey (UKIDSS) Ultra-Deep Survey field observed as part of the Cosmic Assembly Near-infrared Deep Extragalactic Legacy Survey (CANDELS). Based on publicly available data, the catalog includes the CANDELS data from the Hubble Space Telescope (near-infrared WFC3 F125W and F160W data and visible ACS F606W and F814W data); u-band data from CFHT/Megacam; B, V, Rc, i', and z' band data from Subaru/Suprime-Cam; Y and Ks band data from VLT/HAWK-I; J, H, and K band data from UKIDSS (Data Release 8); and Spitzer/IRAC data (3.6, 4.5um from SEDS; 5.8 and 8.0um from SpUDS). The present catalog is F160W-selected and contains 35932 sources over an area of 201.7arcmin^2^ and includes radio- and X-ray-detected sources and spectroscopic redshifts available for 210 sources.

- The AKARI Deep Field-South (ADF-S) is a ~12deg^2^ region near the South Ecliptic Pole that has been observed with deep scans in the far-infrared by the AKARI satellite. As such it is becoming one of the key extragalactic survey fields. We here present complementary observations of the ADF-S conducted by the Spitzer Space Telescope at wavelengths of 24 and 70um. We extract source catalogues at each of these wavelengths reaching depths of ~0.2mJy at 24um and ~20mJy at 70um. We also apply a K-to-24um colour criterion to select objects with galaxy-like colours in the 24-um survey. Completeness corrections as a function of flux density are derived for both catalogues by injecting artificial sources of known flux density into the maps, and we find that our surveys are 50 per cent complete at 0.26 and 24mJy at 24 and 70um, respectively.

- Currently, the global characteristics and evolution of super star clusters (SSCs) are not well understood, due to the large distances to their host galaxies. We aim to study the population of SSCs in IRAS 17138-1017, a luminous infrared galaxy (LIRG), in terms of age, extinction, mass, and luminosity distribution. We analyzed imaging data in the near-infrared from the GeMS/GSAOI instrument on the Gemini telescope and generated simulations with the radiative transfer code MontAGN. The extraction of SSCs from the images and their photometry in J, H, and Ks allowed us to derive color-color and color-magnitude diagrams. Comparison with a theoretical stellar evolutionary track gives a first hint into the extinction towards each SSC, as well as their ages, despite some degeneracy between those two quantities. Spectra given by our radiative transfer code MontAGN, which includes dust emission, also provide insightful predictions and comparisons. We detect with a fair degree of confidence 54 SSCs of m_Ks between 16 mag and 21 mag with a median instrumental uncertainty of 0.05 mag. When plotted on a color-color diagram and a color-magnitude diagram, it appears that most of the sources are very much extinct with respect to an intrinsic theoretical evolutionary track. Once de-reddened, the colors point unambiguously to two distinct and very recent starburst episodes at 2.8 and 4.5Myr. While the SSCs in the 4.5Myr starburst are distributed along the spiral arms, the 2.8Myr SSCs are concentrated in the central region. The luminosity and mass functions present a classical power-law behavior, although with shallower slopes than generally observed in LIRGs. Comparison with radiative transfer simulations shows that, especially for the youngest SSCs, the thermal emission by dust is not negligible and could explain the few very red SSCs that could not be de-reddened safely. This effect could lead to a misevaluation of the age of the starburst by at most 1 or 2Myr.

- We present a catalogue of 261 new infrared selected members of the 3C 129 galaxy cluster. The cluster, located at z=0.02, forms part of the Perseus-Pisces filament and is obscured at optical wavelengths due to its location in the zone of avoidance. We identified these galaxies using the J- and K-band imaging data provided by the UKIDSS Galactic Plane Survey within an area with a radius of 1.1{deg} centred on the X-ray emission of the cluster at (l, b) = (160.52{deg}, 0.27{deg}). A total of 26 of the identified galaxy members have known redshifts 24 of which are from our 2016 Westerbork HI survey and two are from optical spectroscopy. An analysis of the galaxy density at the core of the 3C 129 cluster shows it to be less dense than the Coma and Norma clusters, but comparable to the galaxy density in the core of the Perseus cluster. From an assessment of the spatial and velocity distributions of the 3C 129 cluster galaxies that have redshifts, we derived a velocity of cz=5227+/-171km/s and=1097+/-252km/s for the main cluster, with a substructure in the cluster outskirts at cz=6923+/-71km/s with {sigma}=422+/-100km/s. The presence of this substructure is consistent with previous claims based on the X-ray analysis that the cluster is not yet virialised and may have undergone a recent merger.

- We explore here the young stellar populations in the Rosette Molecular Cloud (RMC) region with high spatial resolution X-ray images from the Chandra X-ray Observatory, which are effective in locating weak-lined T Tauri stars as well as disk-bearing young stars. A total of 395 X-ray point sources are detected, 299 of which (76%) have an optical or near-infrared (NIR) counterpart identified from deep FLAMINGOS images. From X-ray and mass sensitivity limits, we infer a total population of ~1700 young stars in the survey region. Based on smoothed stellar surface density maps, we investigate the spatial distribution of the X-ray sources and define three distinctive structures and substructures within them. Structures B and C are associated with previously known embedded IR clusters, while structure A is a new X-ray-identified unobscured cluster. A high-mass protostar RMCX 89=IRAS 06306+0437 and its associated sparse cluster are studied.

- Context: The stellar populations in the central region of the Galaxy are poorly known because of the high visual extinction and very great source density in this direction. Aims: To use recent infrared surveys for studying the dusty stellar objects in this region. Methods: We analyse the content of a ~20x20arcmin^2 field centred at (l,b)=(-0.27,-0.06) observed at 7 and 15 microns as part of the ISOGAL survey. These ISO observations are more than an order of magnitude better in sensitivity and spatial resolution than the IRAS observations. The sources are cross-associated with other catalogues to identify various types of objects. We then derive criteria to distinguish young objects from post-main sequence stars. Results: We find that a sample of about 50 young stellar objects and ultra-compact HII regions emerges, out of a population of evolved AGB stars. We demonstrate that the sources colours and spatial extents, as they appear in the ISOGAL catalogue, possibly complemented with MSX photometry at 21 microns, can be used to determine whether the ISOGAL sources brighter than 300mJy at 15 microns (or [15]<4.5mag) are young objects or late-type evolved stars.
