- The distribution of member stars in the surroundings of an Open Cluster (OC) can shed light on the process of its formation, evolution and dissolution. The analysis of structural parameters of OCs as a function of their age and position in the Galaxy brings constraints on theoretical models of cluster evolution. The Gaia catalogue is very appropriate to find members of OCs at large distance from their centers. We aim at revisiting the membership lists of OCs from the solar vicinity, in particular by extending these membership lists to the peripheral areas thanks to Gaia EDR3. We then take advantage of these new lists of members to study the morphological properties and the mass segregation levels of the clusters. We used the clustering algorithm HDBSCAN on Gaia parallaxes and proper motions to systematically look for members up to 50pc from the cluster centers. We fitted a King's function on the radial density profile of these clusters and a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) on their two dimensional distribution of members to study their shape. We also evaluated the degree of mass segregation of the clusters and the correlations of these parameters with the age and Galactic position of the clusters. Our methodology performs well on 389 clusters out of the 467 selected ones, including several recently discovered clusters that were poorly studied until now. We report the detection of vast coronae around almost all the clusters and report the detection of 71 OCs with tidal tails, multiplying by more than four the number of such structures identified. We find the size of the cores to be on average smaller for old clusters than for young ones. Also, the overall size of the clusters seems to slightly increase with age while the fraction of stars in the halo seems to decrease. As expected the mass segregation is more pronounced in the oldest clusters but a clear trend with age is not seen. OCs are more extended than previously expected, regardless of their age. The decrease in the proportion of stars populating the clusters halos highlights the different cluster evaporation processes and the short timescales they need to affect the clusters. Reported parameters like cluster sizes or mass segregation levels all depend on cluster ages but can not be described as single functions of time.

- A survey of the galactic plane was made with the Effelsberg 100-m telescope at a frequency of 4.875 GHz with a beamwidth of 2.6 arcmin. Table 1 is a list of 1186 radio sources in the surveyed area l = 357.5 to 60 deg, b = -1 to +1 deg. The primary calibration source was NGC 7027, which was assumed to have a flux density of 5.9 Jy (1 Jy = 10^-26^W.m-2.Hz-1). The uncertainty in day-to-day thermal calibration was +/- 5 to 10%.

- We study the populations of X-ray sources in the Milky Way in the 15-55keV band using a deep survey with the BAT instrument aboard the Swift observatory. We present the log N-log S distributions of the various source types and we analyze their variability and spectra. For the low-mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs) and the high-mass X-ray binaries (HMXBs), we derive the luminosity functions to a limiting luminosity of L_X_~7x10^34^erg/s. Our results confirm the previously found flattening of the LMXB luminosity function below a luminosity of L_X_~10^37^erg/s. The luminosity function of the HMXBs is found to be significantly flatter in the 15-55keV band than in the 2-10keV band. From the luminosity functions we estimate the ratios of the hard X-ray luminosity from HMXBs to the star formation rate, and the LMXB luminosity to the stellar mass. We use these to estimate the X-ray emissivity in the local universe from X-ray binaries and show that it constitutes only a small fraction of the hard X-ray background.

- As part of the Swift/Ultraviolet-Optical Telescope Stars Survey, we present near-ultraviolet (NUV; 3000-1700 {AA}) point-source photometry for 103 Galactic open clusters. These data, taken over the span of the mission, provide a unique and unprecedented set of NUV point-source photometry on simple stellar populations. After applying a membership analysis fueled mostly by Gaia DR2 (Cat. I/345) proper motions, we find that 49 of these 103 have clear precise color-magnitude diagrams (CMDs) amenable to investigation. We compare the CMDs to theoretical isochrones and find good agreement between the theoretical isochrones and the CMDs. The exceptions are the fainter parts of the main sequence and the red giant branch in the uvw2-uvw1 CMDs, which is most likely due to either the difficulty of correcting for the red leak in the uvw2 filter or limitations in our understanding of UV opacities for cool stars. For the most part, our derived cluster parameters - age, distance, and reddening - agree with the consensus literature, but we find a few clusters that warrant substantial revision from literature values, notably NGC 2304, NGC 2343, NGC 2360, NGC 2396, NGC 2428, NGC 2509, NGC 2533, NGC 2571, NGC 2818, Collinder 220, and NGC 6939. A number of these are clusters in the third Galactic quadrant, where previous studies may have mistaken the disk sequence for the cluster. However, the Gaia DR2 proper motions clearly favor a different sequence. A number of clusters also show white dwarf and blue straggler sequences. We confirm the presence of extended main-sequence turnoffs in NGC 2360 and NGC 2818 and show hints of them in a number of other clusters that may warrant future spectroscopic study. Most of the clusters in the study have low extinction, and the rest are well fit by a "Milky Way-like" extinction law. However, Collinder 220 hints at a possible "LMC-like" extinction law. We finally provide a comprehensive point-source catalog to the community as a tool for future investigation.

- The Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) has produced the largest photometric catalogue of ultraviolet (UV) sources. As such, it has defined the new standard bands for UV photometry: the near UV band (NUV) and the far UV band (FUV). However, due to brightness limits, the GALEX mission has avoided the Galactic plane which is crucial for astrophysical research and future space missions. The International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) satellite obtained 63,755 spectra in the low dispersion mode ({lambda}/{delta}{lambda}~300) during its 18-year lifetime. We have derived the photometry in the GALEX bands for the stellar sources in the IUE Archive to extend the GALEX database with observations including the Galactic plane. Good quality spectra have been selected for the IUE classes of stellar sources. The GALEX FUV and NUV magnitudes have been computed using the GALEX transmission curves, as well as the conversion equations between flux and magnitudes provided by the mission (galexgi.gsfc.nasa.gov). Consistency between GALEX and IUE synthetic photometries has been tested using White Dwarfs (WD) contained in both samples. The non-linear response performance of GALEX inferred from this data agrees with the results from GALEX calibration. The photometric database is made available to the community through the services of the Centre de Donnees Stellaires at Strasbourg (CDS). The catalogue contains FUV magnitudes for 1628 sources, ranging from FUV=1.81 to FUV=18.65mag. In the NUV band, the catalogue includes observations for 999 stars ranging from NUV=3.34 to NUV=17.74mag. UV photometry for 1490 sources not included in the GALEX AIS GR5 catalogue is provided; most of them are hot (O-A spectral type) stars. The sources in the catalogue are distributed over the full sky, including the Galactic plane.

- We describe a deep multi-colour NIR survey (TCS-CAIN) that has been recently completed at the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias (Spain). The survey is of selected areas distributed along the Galactic plane and it goes deeper than 2MASS or DENIS. Its aim was to explore the large-scale structure of the Milky Way and the Galactic components, in particular the Galactic bar. This survey has about 10 million point-source detections in J, H, and Ks filters with a photometric accuracy of about 0.1mag in the three bands and a positional accuracy of about 0.2" (based on the 2MASS catalogue as the astrometric reference).

- The Central Molecular Zone (CMZ) at the center of our Galaxy is the best template to study star formation processes under extreme conditions, similar to those in high-redshift galaxies. We observed on-the-fly maps of para-H_2_CO transitions at 218GHz and 291GHz with the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) telescope towards seven Galactic center clouds. From the temperature-sensitive integrated intensity line ratios of H_2_CO(3_21_-2_20_)/H_2_CO(3_03_-2_02_) and H_2_CO(4_22_-3_21_)/H_2_CO(4_04_-3_03_) in combination with radiative transfer models, we produce gas temperature maps of our targets. Our targets have a complex velocity structure that requires a careful disentanglement of the different components. We produce temperature maps for each of the velocity components and show that the temperatures of the components differ, revealing temperature gradients in the clouds.

- As part of a study aimed at determining the kinematical and chemical properties of Terzan 5, we present the first characterization of the bulge stars surrounding this puzzling stellar system. We observed 615 targets located well beyond the tidal radius of Terzan 5 and found that their radial velocity distribution is well described by a Gaussian function peaked at <v_rad_> = +21.0+/-4.6 km/s with dispersion {sigma}_v_= 113.0+/-2.7 km/s. This is one of the few high-precision spectroscopic surveys of radial velocities for a large sample of bulge stars in such a low and positive latitude environment (b = +1.7{deg}). We found no evidence of the peak at <v_rad_> ~ +200 km/s found in Nidever et al. (2012ApJ...755L..25N). Strong contamination of many observed spectra by TiO bands prevented us from deriving the iron abundance for the entire spectroscopic sample, introducing a selection bias. The metallicity distribution was finally derived for a subsample of 112 stars in a magnitude range where the effect of the selection bias is negligible. The distribution is quite broad and roughly peaked at solar metallicity ([Fe/H] =~ +0.05 dex) with a similar number of stars in the super-solar and in the sub-solar ranges. The population number ratios in different metallicity ranges agree well with those observed in other low-latitude bulge fields, suggesting (1) the possible presence of a plateau for|b| < 4{deg} in the ratio between stars in the super-solar (0 < [Fe/H] <0.5 dex) and sub-solar (-0.5 < [Fe/H] <0 dex) metallicity ranges; (2) a severe drop in the metal-poor component ([Fe/H] <-0.5) as a function of Galactic latitude.

- We derive unbiased distance estimates for the Gaia-TGAS data set by correcting for the bias due to the distance dependence of the selection function, which we measure directly from the data. From these distances and proper motions, we estimate the vertical and azimuthal velocities, W and V_{phi}_, and angular momentum L_z_ for stars in the Galactic centre and anticentre directions. The resulting mean vertical motion W^-^ hows a linear increase with both V_{phi}_ and L_z_ at 10{sigma} significance. Such a trend is expected from and consistent with the known Galactic warp. This signal extends to stars with guiding centre radii R_g_<R_0_, placing the onset of the warp at R<=7kpc. At equally high significance, we detect a previously unknown wave-like pattern of W^-^ over guiding centre R_g_ with an amplitude ~1km/s and a wavelength ~2.5kpc. This pattern is present in both the centre and anticentre directions, consistent with a winding (corrugated) warp or bending wave, likely related to known features in the outer disc (TriAnd and Monoceros overdensities), and may be caused by the interaction with the Sgr dwarf galaxy ~1Gyr ago. The only significant deviation from this simple fit is a stream-like feature near R_g_~9kpc (|L_z_|~2150kpc.km/s).

- We present the results of a Green Bank Telescope survey of NH_3_(1,1), (2,2), (3,3) lines toward 631 Bolocam Galactic Plane Survey (BGPS) sources at a range of Galactic longitudes in the inner Galaxy. We have detected the NH_3_(1,1) line toward 72% of our targets (456), demonstrating that the high column density features identified in the BGPS and other continuum surveys accurately predict the presence of dense gas. We have determined kinematic distances and resolved the distance ambiguity for all BGPS sources detected in NH_3_. The BGPS sources trace the locations of the Scutum and Sagittarius spiral arms, with the number of sources peaking between R_Gal_~4 and 5kpc. We measure the physical properties of each source and find that depending on the distance, BGPS sources are primarily clumps, with some cores and clouds. Forty-eight percent of our sample should be forming stars (including massive stars) with high efficiency, and 87% contain subregions that should be efficiently forming stars. Indeed, we find that 67% of the sample exhibit signs of star formation activity based on an association with a mid-infrared source.
