- The extended Kepler mission, K2, is now providing photometry of new fields every three months in a search for transiting planets. In a recent study, Foreman-Mackey and collaborators presented a list of 36 planet candidates orbiting 31 stars in K2 Campaign 1. In this contribution, we present stellar and planetary properties for all systems. We combine ground-based seeing-limited survey data and adaptive optics imaging with an automated transit analysis scheme to validate 21 candidates as planets, 17 for the first time, and identify 6 candidates as likely false positives. Of particular interest is K2-18 (EPIC 201912552), a bright (K=8.9) M2.8 dwarf hosting a 2.23+/-0.25 R_{earth}_ planet with T_eq_=272+/-15 K and an orbital period of 33 days. We also present two new open-source software packages which enable this analysis. The first, isochrones, is a flexible tool for fitting theoretical stellar models to observational data to determine stellar properties using a nested sampling scheme to capture the multimodal nature of the posterior distributions of the physical parameters of stars that may plausibly be evolved. The second is vespa, a new general-purpose procedure to calculate false positive probabilities and statistically validate transiting exoplanets.

- Arcuate mid-infrared nebulae known as stellar bow shock nebulae (SBNe) have been previously hypothesized to be supported by the strong stellar winds and/or luminosity of massive early-type stars. We present an optical spectroscopic survey of 84 stars identified from mid-infrared images as candidate SBN-supporting stars. Eighty-one of 84 sources, 96%, are O or early-B spectral types. K-band luminosities for a larger sample of 289 stars at the centers of bow shock nebulae are overwhelmingly consistent with OB stars. This affirms both that SBNe are supported by massive stars and that arcuate mid-infrared nebulae are reliable indicators of the presence of a massive star. The radial velocity dispersions of these systems and detections of double-lined systems indicate that at least 27 of the 74 systems with multiple observations (>36%) are candidate multiple-star systems. This rate is consistent with observed multiplicity rates of field OB stars detected with similar radial velocity surveys and lower than, but not inconsistent with, the multiplicity rates of OB stars in clusters and associations.

- Stellar catalogues in five passbands (UBVRI) over an area of approximately 0.3{deg}^2^, comprising about 1200 objects, and in seven passbands (UBVRIJK) over approximately 0.1{deg}^2^, comprising about 400 objects, in the direction of the Chandra Deep Field South are presented. The 90% completeness level of the number counts is reached at approximately U=23.8, B=24.0, V=23.5, R=23.0, I=21.0, J=20.5, K=19.0. These multi-band catalogues have been produced from publicly available, single passband catalogues. A scheme is presented to select point sources from these catalogues, by combining the SExtractor parameter CLASS_STAR from all available passbands. Probable QSOs and unresolved galaxies are identified by using the previously developed {chi}^2^-technique (Hatziminaoglou et al., 2002, Cat. <J/A+A/384/81>), that fits the overall spectral energy distributions to template spectra and determines the best fitting template. Approximately 15% of true galaxies are misclassified as stars by the {chi}^2^ method. The number of unresolved galaxies and QSOs identified by the {chi}^2^-technique, allows us to estimate that the remaining level of contamination by such objects is at the level of 2.4% of the number of stars. The fraction of missing stars being incorrectly removed as QSOs or unresolved galaxies is estimated to be similar. The resulting stellar catalogues and the objects identified as likely QSOs and unresolved galaxies with coordinates, observed magnitudes with errors and assigned spectral types by the {chi}^2^-technique are presented and are publicly available.

- The first results of a new survey are reported, which explores the 2nd data release of the ESA-Gaia mission, in order to search for stellar companions of (Community) TESS Objects of Interest and to characterize their properties. In total, 193 binary and 15 hierarchical triple star systems are presented, detected among 1391 target stars, which are located at distances closer than about 500pc around the Sun. The companions and the targets are equidistant and share a common proper motion, as it is expected for gravitationally bound stellar systems, proven with their accurate Gaia astrometry. The companions exhibit masses in the range between about 0.08M_{sun}_ and 3M_{sun}_ and are most frequently found in the mass range between 0.13 and 0.6M_{sun}_. The companions are separated from the targets by about 40 up to 9900au, and their frequency continually decreases with increasing separation. While most of the detected companions are late K to mid M dwarfs, also 5 white dwarf companions were identified in this survey, whose true nature is revealed by their photometric properties.

- We present the latest results of our ongoing multiplicity study of (Community) TESS Objects of Interest, using astro- and photometric data from the ESA-Gaia mission, to detect stellar companions of these stars and to characterize their properties. In total, 107 binary, 5 hierarchical triple star systems, as well as one quadruple system were detected among 585 targets surveyed, which are all located at distances closer than about 500pc around the Sun. As proven with their accurate Gaia EDR3 astrometry, the companions and the targets are located at the same distance and share a common proper motion, as it is expected for components of gravitationally bound stellar systems. The companions exhibit masses in the range between about 0.09M_{sun}_ and 4.5M_{sun}_ and are most frequently found in the mass range between 0.15 and 0.6M_{sun}_. The companions are separated from the targets by about 120 up to 9500au and their frequency is the highest and constant within about 500au while it continually decreases for larger separations. Beside mainly early to mid M dwarfs, also 5 white dwarf companions were identified in this survey, whose true nature was revealed by their photometric properties.

- We present interferometric angular diameter measurements of 21 low-mass, K- and M-dwarfs made with the CHARA Array. This sample is enhanced by adding a collection of radius measurements published in the literature to form a total data set of 33 K-M-dwarfs with diameters measured to better than 5%. We use these data in combination with the Hipparcos parallax and new measurements of the star's bolometric flux to compute absolute luminosities, linear radii, and effective temperatures for the stars. We develop empirical relations for ~K0 to M4 main-sequence stars that link the stellar temperature, radius, and luminosity to the observed (B-V), (V-R), (V-I), (V-J), (V-H), and (V-K) broadband color index and stellar metallicity [Fe/H]. These relations are valid for metallicities ranging from [Fe/H]=-0.5 to +0.1dex and are accurate to ~2%, ~5%, and ~4% for temperature, radius, and luminosity, respectively. Our results show that it is necessary to use metallicity-dependent transformations in order to properly convert colors into stellar temperatures, radii, and luminosities.

- The Chinese Small Telescope Array (CSTAR) carried out high-cadence time-series observations of ~20.1 square degrees centered on the South Celestial Pole during the 2008, 2009, and 2010 winter seasons from Dome A in Antarctica. The nearly continuous six months of dark conditions during each observing season allowed for >10^6^ images to be collected through gri and clear filters, resulting in the detection of >10^4^ sources over the course of three years of operation. The nearly space-like conditions in the Antarctic plateau are an ideal testbed for the suitability of very small-aperture (<20cm) telescopes to detect transient events, variable stars, and stellar flares. We present the results of a robust search for such objects using difference image analysis of the data obtained during the 2009 and 2010 winter seasons. While no transients were found, we detected 29 flaring events and find a normalized flaring rate of 5+/-4*10^-7^flare/hr for late-K dwarfs, 1+/-1*10^-6^flare/hr for M dwarfs and 7+/-1*10^-7^flare/hr for all other stars in our sample. We suggest future small-aperture telescopes planned for deployment at Dome A would benefit from a tracking mechanism, to help alleviate effects from ghosting, and a finer pixel scale, to increase the telescope's sensitivity to faint objects. We find that the light curves of non-transient sources have excellent photometric qualities once corrected for systematics, and are limited only by photon noise and atmospheric scintillation.

- We search for nearby, isolated, accreting, "stellar-mass" (3-100M_{sun}_) black holes. Models suggest a synchrotron spectrum in visible wavelengths and some emission in X-ray wavelengths. Of 3.7 million objects in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Early Data Release, Cat. <J/AJ/123/567>, about 150,000 objects have colors and properties consistent with such a spectrum, and 87 of these objects are X-ray sources from the ROSAT All-Sky Survey (Cat. <IX/10> and <IX/29>). Thirty-two of these have been confirmed not to be black holes using optical spectra. We give the positions and colors of these 55 black hole candidates and quantitatively rank them on their likelihood to be black holes. We discuss uncertainties in the expected number of sources and the contribution of black holes to local dark matter.

- Recent analyses suggest that distance residuals measured from Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) are correlated with local host galaxy properties within a few kiloparsecs of the SN explosion. However, the well-established correlation with global host galaxy properties is nearly as significant, with a shift of 0.06mag across a low to high mass boundary (the mass step). Here, with 273 SNe Ia at z<0.1, we investigate whether the stellar masses and rest-frame u-g colors of regions within 1.5kpc of the SN Ia explosion site are significantly better correlated with SN distance measurements than global properties or properties measured at random locations in SN hosts. At >~2{sigma} significance, local properties tend to correlate with distance residuals better than properties at random locations, though despite using the largest low-z sample to date, we cannot definitively prove that a local correlation is more significant than a random correlation. Our data hint that SNe observed by surveys that do not target a pre-selected set of galaxies may have a larger local mass step than SNe from surveys that do, an increase of 0.071+/-0.036mag (2.0{sigma}). We find a 3{sigma} local mass step after global mass correction, evidence that SNe Ia should be corrected for their local mass, but we note that this effect is insignificant in the targeted low-z sample. Only the local mass step remains significant at >2{sigma} after global mass correction, and we conservatively estimate a systematic shift in H0 measurements of -0.14km/s/Mpc with an additional uncertainty of 0.14km/s/Mpc, ~10% of the present uncertainty.
