- We present the results of a search for an ex-companion star in SNR 0519-69.0, located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, based on images taken with the Hubble Space Telescope with a limiting magnitude of V=26.05. SNR 0519-69.0 is confidently known to be from a Type Ia supernova based on its light echoes and X-ray spectra. The geometric center of the remnant (based on the H{alpha} and X-ray shell) is at 05:19:34.83, -69:02:06.92 (J2000). Accounting for the measurement uncertainties, the orbital velocity, and the kick velocity, any ex-companion star must be within 4.7" of this position at the 99.73% confidence level. This circle contains 27 main-sequence stars brighter than V=22.7, any one of which could be the ex-companion star left over from a supersoft source progenitor system. The circle contains no post-main-sequence stars, and this rules out the possibility of all other published single-degenerate progenitor classes (including symbiotic stars, recurrent novae, helium donors, and the spin-up/spin-down models) for this particular supernova. The only remaining possibility is that SNR 0519-69.0 was formed from either a supersoft source or a double-degenerate progenitor system.

- We extract light curves for 4554 objects with 9<G<19 in the K2 superstamp observations of the globular cluster M4, including 3784 cluster members, and search for variability. Among cluster-member objects, we detect 66 variables, of which 52 are new discoveries. Among objects not belonging to the cluster, we detect 24 variables, of which 20 are new discoveries. We additionally discover 57 cluster-member suspected variables, 10 cluster-non-member suspected variables, and four variables with ambiguous cluster membership. Our light curves reach sub-millimagnitude precision for the cluster horizontal branch, permitting us to detect asteroseismic activity in six horizontal branch stars outside the instability strip and one inside the strip but with only ~1mmag amplitude variability. Nineteen additional stars along the red giant branch also have detected asteroseismic variability. Several eclipsing binaries are found in the cluster, including a 4.6 day detached eclipsing binary and an EW-class eclipsing binary, as well as an EW with uncertain cluster membership and three other candidate EWs. A 22 day detached eclipsing binary is also found outside the cluster. We identify a candidate X-ray binary that is a cluster member with quiescent and periodic ~20mmag optical variability. We also obtain high-precision light curves for 10 of the previously known RR Lyrae variables in the cluster and identify one as a candidate Blazhko variable with a Blazhko period in excess of 78d.

- We present star formation activity in the infrared dark cloud (IRDC) G53.2, a remarkable IRDC located at Galactic coordinates (l,b)~(53.2{deg},0.0{deg}) based on the census of young stellar object (YSO) candidates. IRDC G53.2 was previously identified as several IRDCs in mid-IR images, but it is in fact a long (>~45pc) cloud, well consistent with a CO cloud at v~23km/s (or at d~1.7kpc). We present a point-source catalog of IRDC G53.2 that contains ~370 sources from our photometry of the Spitzer MIPS 24{mu}m data and Galactic Legacy Infrared Mid-Plane Survey Extraordinaire (GLIMPSE) Catalog. The classification of the identified sources based on their spectral index and control field analysis to remove field star contamination reveals that IRDC G53.2 is an active star-forming region with ~300 YSO candidates. We compare the YSO classification based on spectral index, mid-IR colors, and the wavelength range used, which results in consistent classification, except for flat-spectrum objects, with some ambiguity between Class I and II. Comparison of the YSO population in IRDC G53.2 with those of other nearby star-forming clusters indicates that they are similar in age; on the other hand, stronger association with mid-IR stellar sources in IRDC G53.2 compared with other IRDCs indicates that IRDC G53.2 is at a later evolutionary stage among IRDCs. Spatial distribution of the YSO candidates in IRDC G53.2 shows a good correlation with ^13^CO column density and far-IR emission, and earlier-class objects tend to be more clustered in the regions with higher density.

- The ESA PLAnetary Transits and Oscillations of stars (PLATO) mission will search for terrestrial planets in the habitable zone of solar-like stars. Because of telemetry limitations PLATO targets need to be pre-selected. In this paper we present an all sky catalog that will be fundamental to select the best PLATO fields and the most promising target stars, derive their fundamental parameters, analyze the instrumental performances and then plan and optimize follow-up observations. This catalog also represents a valuable resource for the general definition of stellar samples optimized for the search of transiting planets. We used Gaia Data Release 2 (DR2) astrometry and photometry and 3D maps of the local interstellar medium to isolate FGK (V<=13) and M(V<=16) dwarfs and subgiant stars. We present the first public release of the all sky PLATO Input Catalog (asPIC1.1) containing a total of 2675539 stars among which 2378177 FGK dwarfs and subgiants and 297362 M dwarfs. The median distance in our sample is 428pc for FGK stars and 146 pc for M dwarfs, respectively. We derived the reddening of our targets and developed an algorithm to estimate stellar fundamental parameters (Teff, radius, mass) from astrometric and photometric measurements. We show that our overall (internal+external) uncertainties on the stellar parameters determination is ~230K (4%) for the effective temperatures, ~0.1R_{sun}_ (9%) for the stellar radii and ~0.1M_{sun}_ (11%) for the stellar mass. We release a special target list containing all known planet hosts cross-matched with our catalog.

- We have performed mid-IR photometry of the young open cluster NGC 2264 using the images obtained with the Spitzer Space Telescope Infrared Array Camera and Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer instruments and presented a normalized classification scheme of young stellar objects in various color-color diagrams to make full use of the information from multicolor photometry. These results are compared with the classification scheme based on the slope of the spectral energy distribution (SED). From the spatial distributions of Class I and II stars, we have identified two subclusterings of Class I objects in the CONE region of Sung et al. (Cat. J/AJ/135/441). The disked stars in the other star-forming region S Mon are mostly Class II objects. In addition, we have derived a somewhat higher value of the primordial disk fraction for NGC 2264 members located below the main pre-main-sequence locus (so-called BMS stars). This result supports the idea that BMS stars are young stars with nearly edge-on disks.

- We studied a sample of 415 associated (z_abs_~z_em_; relative velocity with respect to QSO in units of c, {beta}<0.01) MgII absorption systems with 1.0<=z_abs_<=1.86, in the spectra of SDSS DR3 QSOs, to determine the dust content and ionization state in the absorbers. We also compared these properties to those of a similarly selected sample of 809 intervening systems ({beta}>0.01), so as to understand their origin. Normalized, composite spectra were derived for absorption line measurements, for the full sample and for several subsamples, chosen on the basis of the line strengths and other absorber and QSO properties. From these, and from the equivalent widths in individual spectra, we conclude that the associated MgII absorbers have higher ionization (higher ratios of the strengths of CIV and MgII lines), than the intervening absorbers. The ionization decreases with increasing {beta}. Average extinction curves were obtained for the subsamples by comparing their geometric mean QSO spectra with those of matching (in z_em_ and i magnitude) samples of QSOs without absorption lines. There is clear evidence for SMC-like dust attenuation in these systems; the 2175{AA} absorption feature is absent. The extinction is almost twice that observed in intervening systems. We reconfirm that QSOs with nonzero FIRST radio flux are intrinsically redder than the QSOs with no detection in the FIRST survey.

- A standard library of theoretical stellar spectra intended for multiple synthetic photometry applications including spectral evolutionary synthesis is presented. The grid includes M dwarf model spectra, hence complementing the first library version established in Paper I (Lejeune et al., 1997, Cat. <J/A+AS/125/229>). It covers the following wide ranges of fundamental parameters: Teff: 50,000 to 2000K, logg: 5.5 to -1.02, and [Fe/H]: +1.0 to -5.0. A correction procedure is also applied to the theoretical spectra in order to provide color-calibrated flux distributions over a large domain of effective temperatures. Empirical Teff-color calibrations are constructed between 11500K and 2000K, and semi-empirical calibrations for non-solar abundances ([Fe/H]=-3.5 to +1.0) are established. Model colors and bolometric corrections for both the original and the corrected spectra, synthesized in the UBV(RI)c(JHKLL'M) system, are given for the full range of stellar parameters. Synthetic colors: ---------------- Synthetic UBV(RI)c(JHKLM) colors have been computed from both the original and the corrected model flux distributions presented in Paper I (1997A&AS..125..229L; see catalog <J/A+AS/125/229>), as the files lcb98ori.dat and lcb98cor.dat respectively; the results are also presented in individual files lcb98xxx.ori and lcb98xxx.cor, where xxx designates the metallicity (ex: 'm15' --> [Fe/H]=-1.5). For each file, we give synthetic colors computed from energy-weighted and photon-weighted stellar fluxes. Semi-empirical calibrations: --------------------------- Empirical ([Fe/H]=0.0) and semi-empirical (-3.5<=[Fe/H]<=+1.0) Teff-colors (UBVRIJHKLM) calibrations are given in Tables 1 to 10.

- I, J, K magnitudes of 1233 asteroids (numbered between 1 and 8000) are presented here. These asteroids have been recovered in the DENIS Survey (Deep European Near-Infrared southern sky Survey) on the basis of their predicted ephemerides. The observations were performed with the 1m-telescope at ESO, La Silla (Chile). The limiting magnitudes of the three bands I, J, K centered at 0.8, 1.25 and 2.15 microns are respectively 18.5, 16.5 and 13.5.
