- We present a tally of Milky Way late-type dwarf stars in 68 Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) pure-parallel fields (227 arcmin^2^) from the Brightest of Reionizing Galaxies survey for high-redshift galaxies. Using spectroscopically identified M-dwarfs in two public surveys, the Cosmic Assembly Near-IR Deep Extragalactic Legacy Survey and the Early Release Science mosaics, we identify a morphological selection criterion using the half-light radius (r_50_), a near-infrared J-H, G-J color region where M-dwarfs are found, and a V-J relation with M-dwarf subtype. We apply this morphological selection of stellar objects, color-color selection of M-dwarfs, and optical-near-infrared color subtyping to compile a catalog of 274 M-dwarfs belonging to the disk of the Milky Way with a limiting magnitude of m_F125W_<24(AB). Based on the M-dwarf statistics, we conclude that (1) the previously identified north-south discrepancy in M-dwarf numbers persists in our sample; there are more M-dwarfs in the northern fields on average than in southern ones, (2) the Milky Way's single disk scale-height for M-dwarfs is 0.3-4 kpc, depending on subtype, (3) the scale-height depends on M-dwarf subtype with early types (M0-4) high scale-height (z_0_=3-4 kpc) and later types M5 and above in the thin disk (z_0_=0.3-0.5 kpc), (4) a second component is visible in the vertical distribution, with a different, much higher scale-height in the southern fields compared to the northern ones. We report the M-dwarf component of the Sagittarius stream in one of our fields with 11 confirmed M-dwarfs, seven of which are at the stream's distance. In addition to the M-dwarf catalog, we report the discovery of 1 T-dwarfs and 30 L-dwarfs from their near-infrared colors. The dwarf scale-height and the relative low incidence in our fields of L- and T-dwarfs in these fields makes it unlikely that these stars will be interlopers in great numbers in color-selected samples of high-redshift galaxies. The relative ubiquity of M-dwarfs however will make them ideal tracers of Galactic halo substructure with EUCLID and reference stars for James Webb Space Telescope observations.

- In the central few degrees of the bulge of the Milky Way there is a flattened structure of gas, dust, and stars, known as the central molecular zone, that is similar to nuclear disks in other galaxies. As a result of extreme foreground extinction, we possess only sparse information about the (mostly old) stellar population of the nuclear disk. In this work we present our KMOS spectroscopic survey of the stars in the nuclear disk reaching the old populations. To obtain an unbiased data set, we sampled stars in the full extinction range along each line of sight. We also observed reference fields in neighboring regions of the Galactic bulge. We describe the design and execution of the survey and present first results. We obtain spectra and five spectral indices of 3113 stars with a median S/N of 67 and measure radial velocities for 3051 stars. Of those, 2735 sources have sufficient S/N to estimate temperatures and metallicities from indices. We derive metallicities using the CO 2-0 and Na I K-band spectral features, where we derive our own empirical calibration using metallicities obtained with higher-resolution observations.We use 183 giant stars for calibration spanning in metallicity from -2.5 to 0.6dex and covering temperatures of up to 5500K. The derived index based metallicities deviate from the calibration values with a scatter of 0.32dex. The internal uncertainty of our metallicities is likely smaller. We use these metallicity measurements, together with the CO index, to derive effective temperatures using literature relations. We publish the catalog in this paper. Our data set complements Galactic surveys such as Gaia and APOGEE for the inner 200pc radius of the Milky Way, which is not readily accessible by those surveys owing to extinction. We will use the derived properties in future papers for further analysis of the nuclear disk.

- The environment of Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*), the central black hole of the Milky Way, is the only place in the Universe where we can currently study the interaction between a nuclear star cluster and a massive black hole and infer the properties of a nuclear cluster from observations of individual stars. This work aims to explore the star formation history of the nuclear cluster and the structure of the innermost stellar cusp around Sgr A*. We combined and analysed multi epoch high quality AO observations. For the region close to Sgr A* we apply the speckle holography technique to the AO data and obtain images that are >=50% complete down to Ks~19 within a projected radius of 5" around Sgr A*. We used $H$-band images to derive extinction maps. We provide Ks photometry for roughly 39000 stars and H-band photometry for ~11000 stars within a field of about 40"x40", centred on Sgr A*. In addition, we provide Ks photometry of ~3000 stars in a very deep central field of 10"x10", centred on Sgr A*. We find that the Ks luminosity function (KLF) is rather homogeneous within the studied field and does not show any significant changes as a function of distance from the central black hole on scales of a few 0.1pc. By fitting theoretical luminosity functions to the KLF, we derive the star formation history of the nuclear star cluster. We find that about 80% of the original star formation took place 10Gyr ago or longer, followed by a largely quiescent phase that lasted for more than 5Gyr. We clearly detect the presence of intermediate-age stars of about 3Gyr in age. This event makes up about 15% of the originally formed stellar mass of the cluster. A few percent of the stellar mass formed in the past few 100Myr. Our results appear to be inconsistent with a quasi-continuous star formation history. The mean metallicity of the stars is consistent with being slightly super solar. The stellar density increases exponentially towards Sgr A* at all magnitudes between Ks=15-19. We also show that the precise properties of the stellar cusp around Sgr A* are hard to determine because the star formation history suggests that the star counts can be significantly contaminated, at all magnitudes, by stars that are too young to be dynamically relaxed. We find that the probability of observing any young (non-millisecond) pulsar in a tight orbit around Sgr A* and beamed towards Earth is very low. We argue that typical globular clusters, such as they are observed in and around the Milky Way today, have probably not contributed to the nuclear cluster's mass in any significant way. The nuclear cluster may have formed following major merger events in the early history of the Milky Way.

- The Millennium Galaxy Catalogue (MGC) is a 37.5deg^2^, medium-deep, B-band imaging survey along the celestial equator, taken with the Wide Field Camera on the Isaac Newton Telescope. The survey region is contained within the regions of both the Two Degree Field Galaxy Redshift Survey (2dFGRS) and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Early Data Release (SDSS-EDR). The survey has a uniform isophotal detection limit of 26mag.arcsec^-2^ and it provides a robust, well-defined catalogue of stars and galaxies in the range 16<=B_MGC_<24 mag. Here we describe the survey strategy, the photometric and astrometric calibration, source detection and analysis, and present the galaxy number counts that connect the bright and faint galaxy populations within a single survey. We argue that these counts represent the state of the art and use them to constrain the normalizations ({phi}*) of a number of recent estimates of the local galaxy luminosity function. We find that the 2dFGRS, SDSS Commissioning Data (CD), ESO Slice Project, Century Survey, Durham/UKST, Mt Stromlo/APM, SSRS2 and NOG luminosity functions require a revision of their published {phi}* values by factors of 1.05+/-0.05, 0.76+/-0.10, 1.02+/-0.22, 1.02+/-0.16, 1.16+/-0.28, 1.75+/-0.37, 1.40+/-0.26 and 1.01+/-0.39, respectively. After renormalizing the galaxy luminosity functions we find a mean local b_J_ luminosity density of 1.986+/-0.031x10^8^h L_{sun}_.Mpc^-3^

- We report on a millimeter continuum survey of the entire Cygnus X molecular complex. We used the MAMBO and MAMBO-2 bolometer arrays on the IRAM 30m telescope to map a 3deg^2^ area at 1.2mm (see fits files of Figures 2, kept to 11" resolution). Our MAMBO-2 imaging gives a complete view of the cloud structures ranging from 0.03pc to 5pc, i.e. from dense cores to clumps. We perform a multi-resolution analysis to extract 129 compact dense cores (~0.1pc, see Table 1) and identify 40 massive large-scale clumps (~0.7pc, see Table 2). The 21um fluxes arising from dense cores are taken from the MSX point source catalog (MSX C6, Cat. <V/114>).

- The minimum timings of eclipsing binaries V418 Aql, SU Boo, RV CVn, CR Cas, GV Cyg, V432 Per, and BD+42 2782 were collected and analyzed. Their long-term behavior was studied via period analysis, revealing a periodic term in eclipse times. We derived 576 new times of minimum. Hence, to describe the periodic variation, a third-body hypothesis was proposed and the resulting orbital periods are as follows: 70, 7.4, 53, 37, 27, 53, and 18 yr, respectively. For the system V432 Per an additional 9.5 yr variation was also found. The predicted minimum masses of these distant bodies were calculated and their detectability discussed. The light curves of SU Boo and RV CVn were analyzed using the PHOEBE program, resulting in physical parameters of the components. New variable stars in the field of V418 Aql were discovered.

- A catalogue of 328 positions, redshifts, bJ magnitudes and bJ-rF colours of galaxies down to bJ=20.5 in 4x0.67 degrees slice close to the North Galactic Pole is presented. Two additional tables containing positions, magnitudes, colours and radial velocities for stars and galaxies not in the main catalogue are also included. The photometry errors are about 0.2 for magnitudes and 0.3 for the colours. The radial velocity errors are estimated as being about 70 km/s. The redshift completeness level of the sample is of the order of ~35% at bj=20.

- We discuss the results from the combined IRAC and MIPS c2d Spitzer Legacy survey observations and complementary optical and NIR data of the Chamaeleon II (Cha II) dark cloud. We perform a census of the young population in an area of ~1.75deg^2^ and study the spatial distribution and properties of the cloud members and candidate pre-main-sequence (PMS) objects and their circumstellar matter. Our census is complete down to the substellar regime (M~0.03M_{sun}).

- In this contribution, we describe the applied methods to construct a 24{mu}m based point source catalog derived from the image data of the MIPSGAL 24{mu}m Galactic Plane Survey and the corresponding data products. The high quality catalog product contains 933818 sources, with a total of 1353228 in the full archive catalog. The source tables include positional and photometric information derived from the 24{mu}m images, source quality and confusion flags, and counterpart photometry from matched 2MASS, GLIMPSE, and WISE point sources. Completeness decay data cubes are constructed at 1' angular resolution that describe the varying background levels over the MIPSGAL field and the ability to extract sources of a given magnitude from this background. The completeness decay cubes are included in the set of data products. We present the results of our efforts to verify the astrometric and photometric calibration of the catalog, and present several analyses of minor anomalies in these measurements to justify adopted mitigation strategies.
