- We provide the first full K2 transiting exoplanet sample, using photometry from Campaigns 1-8 and 10-18, derived through an entirely automated procedure. This homogeneous planet candidate catalog is crucial to perform a robust demographic analysis of transiting exoplanets with K2. We identify 747 unique planet candidates and 57 multiplanet systems. Of these candidates, 366 have not been previously identified, including one resonant multiplanet system and one system with two short-period gas giants. By automating the construction of this list, measurements of sample biases (completeness and reliability) can be quantified. We carried out a light-curve-level injection/recovery test of artificial transit signals and found a maximum completeness of 61%, a consequence of the significant detrending required for K2 data analysis. Through this operation we attained measurements of the detection efficiency as a function of signal strength, enabling future population analysis using this sample. We assessed the reliability of our planet sample by testing our vetting software EDI-Vetter against inverted transit-free light curves. We estimate that 91% of our planet candidates are real astrophysical signals, increasing up to 94% when limited to the FGKM dwarf stellar population. We also constrain the contamination rate from background eclipsing binaries to less than 5%. The presented catalog, along with the completeness and reliability measurements, enable robust exoplanet demographic studies to be carried out across the fields observed by the K2 mission for the first time.

- A compilation of 21 cm line spectral parameters specifically designed for application of the Tully-Fisher (TF) distance method is presented for 1201 spiral galaxies, primarily field Sc galaxies, for which optical I-band photometric imaging is also available. New H I line spectra have been obtained for 881 galaxies. For an additional 320 galaxies, spectra available in a digital archive have been reexamined to allow application of a single algorithm for the derivation of the TF velocity width parameter. A velocity width algorithm is used that provides a robust measurement of rotational velocity and permits an estimate of the error on that width taking into account the effects of instrumental broadening and signal-to-noise. The digital data are used to establish regression relations between measurements of velocity widths using other common prescriptions so that comparable widths can be derived through conversion of values published in the literature. The uniform H I line widths presented here provide the rotational velocity measurement to be used in deriving peculiar velocities via the TF method.

- We present and explore deep narrow- and medium-band data obtained with the Subaru and the Isaac Newton Telescopes in the ~2deg^2^ COSMOS field. We use these data as an extremely wide, low-resolution (R~20-80) Integral Field Unit survey to slice through the COSMOS field and obtain a large sample of ~4000 Ly{alpha} emitters (LAEs) from z~2 to 6 in 16 redshift slices (SC4K). We present new Ly {alpha} luminosity functions (LFs) covering a comoving volume of ~10^8^Mpc^3^. SC4K extensively complements ultradeep surveys, jointly covering over 4dex in Ly{alpha} luminosity and revealing a global (2.5<z<6) synergy LF with {alpha}=-1.93^+0.12^_-0.12_, log_10_{Phi}^*^_Ly{alpha}_=-3.45^+0.22^_-0.29_Mpc^-3^, and log_10_L^*^_Ly{alpha}_=42.93^+0.15^_-0.11_erg/s. The Schechter component of the Ly{alpha} LF reveals a factor ~5 rise in L^*^_Ly{alpha}_ and a ~7 x decline in {Phi}^*^_Ly{alpha}_ from z~2 to 6. The data reveal an extra power-law (or Schechter) component above L_Ly{alpha}_~=10^43.3^erg/s at z~2.2-3.5 and we show that it is partially driven by X-ray and radio active galactic nucleus (AGN), as their Ly{alpha} LF resembles the excess. The power-law component vanishes and/or is below our detection limits above z>3.5, likely linked with the evolution of the AGN population. The Ly {alpha} luminosity density rises by a factor ~2 from z~2 to 3 but is then found to be roughly constant (1.1^+0.2^_-0.2_x10^40^erg/s/Mpc^3^) to z~6, despite the ~0.7 dex drop in ultraviolet (UV) luminosity density. The Ly{alpha}/UV luminosity density ratio rises from 4+/-1 per cent to 30+/-6 per cent from z~2.2 to 6. Our results imply a rise of a factor of ~=2 in the global ionization efficiency ({xi}_ion_) and a factor ~=4+/-1 in the Ly{alpha} escape fraction from z~2 to 6, hinting for evolution in both the typical burstiness/stellar populations and even more so in the typical interstellar medium conditions allowing Ly{alpha} photons to escape.

- We present multiwavelength identifications for the counterparts of 1088 submillimeter sources detected at 850{mu}m in the SCUBA-2 Cosmology Legacy Survey (S2CLS) study of the UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey-Ultra-Deep Survey (UDS) field. By utilizing an Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) pilot study on a subset of our bright SCUBA-2 sample as a training set, along with the deep optical-near-infrared (OIR) data available in this field, we develop a novel technique, Optical-IR Triple Color (OIRTC), using z-K, K-[3.6], [3.6]-[4.5] colors to select the candidate submillimeter galaxy (SMG) counterparts. By combining radio identification and the OIRTC technique, we find counterpart candidates for 80% of the Class = 1 >=4{sigma} SCUBA-2 sample, defined as those that are covered by both radio and OIR imaging and the base sample for our scientific analyses. Based on the ALMA training set, we expect the accuracy of these identifications to be 82%+/-20%, with a completeness of 69%+/-16%, essentially as accurate as the traditional p-value technique but with higher completeness. We find that the fraction of SCUBA-2 sources having candidate counterparts is lower for fainter 850{mu}m sources, and we argue that for follow-up observations sensitive to SMGs with S_850_>~1mJy across the whole ALMA beam, the fraction with multiple counterparts is likely to be >40% for SCUBA-2 sources at S_850_>~4mJy. We find that the photometric redshift distribution for the SMGs is well fit by a lognormal distribution, with a median redshift of z=2.3+/-0.1. After accounting for the sources without any radio and/or OIRTC counterpart, we estimate the median redshift to be z=2.6+/-0.1 for SMGs with S_850_>1mJy. We also use this new large sample to study the clustering of SMGs and the far-infrared properties of the unidentified submillimeter sources by stacking their Herschel SPIRE far-infrared emission.

- We have obtained Spitzer Space Telescope Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer (MIPS) 24 micron and 70 micron observations of 215 nearby, Hipparcos B- and A-type common proper-motion single and binary systems in the nearest OB association, Scorpius-Centaurus. Combining our MIPS observations with those of other ScoCen stars in the literature, we estimate 24 micron B+A-type disk fractions of 17/67 (25^+6^_-5_%), 36/131 (27^+4^_-5_%), and 23/95 (24^+5^_-4_%) for Upper Scorpius (~11Myr), Upper Centaurus Lupus (~15Myr), and Lower Centaurus Crux (~17Myr), respectively, somewhat smaller disk fractions than previously obtained for F- and G-type members. We confirm previous IRAS excess detections and present new discoveries of 51 protoplanetary and debris disk systems, with fractional infrared luminosities ranging from LIR/L*=10^-6^ to 10^-2^ and grain temperatures ranging from Tgr=40 to 300K. In addition, we confirm that the 24 micron and 70 micron excesses (or fractional infrared luminosities) around B+A-type stars are smaller than those measured toward F+G-type stars and hypothesize that the observed disk property dependence on stellar mass may be the result of a higher stellar companion fraction around B- and A-type stars at 10-200AU. Finally, we note that the majority of the ScoCen 24 micron excess sources also possess 12 micron excess, indicating that Earth-like planets may be forming via collisions in the terrestrial planet zone at ~10-100Myr.

We searched for an increase in 24 micron excess at an age of 15-20Myr, consistent with the onset of debris production predicted by coagulation N-body simulations of outer planetary systems. We found such an increase around 1.5M_{sun}_ stars but discovered a decrease in the 24 micron excess around 1.0M_{sun}_ stars. We additionally discovered that the 24 micron excess around 1.0M_{sun}_ stars is larger than predicted by self-stirred models. Finally, we found a weak anti-correlation between fractional infrared luminosity (L_IR/L_*) and chromospheric activity (R'_HK), that may be the result of differences in stellar HK properties, such as mass, luminosity, and/or winds. - To investigate the dependence of (visual) binarity characteristics on the primary component mass, we selected all stars of spectral type B in Sco OB2 association and searched for near-infrared companions to them with ADONIS and Coronograph. The data acquisition and companions measurement results are described; the mass ratio distribution f(q)=q**(-0.5) is derived using the PMS stars evolution tracks. Target stars J- and K-magnitudes are presented in Table 1; differential photometry and astrometry results for secondary companions and background sources in sky-offset fields are given in Table 2 and 3, respectively.

- We present JHK observations of 22 intermediate-mass stars in Sco OB2, obtained with NACO. This survey was performed to determine the status of (sub)stellar candidate companions of Sco OB2 member stars of spectral type A and late-B. The distinction between companions and background stars is made on the basis of a comparison to isochrones and additional statistical arguments. We include in our sample a subset of 9 targets with multi-color ADONIS observations from Kouwenhoven et al. (2005, Cat. <J/A+A/430/137>). We reanalyse the total sample (i.e. NACO and ADONIS) and conclude that of the 176 secondaries, 25 are physical companions, 55 are candidate companions, and 96 are background stars. Although we are sensitive (and complete) to brown dwarf companions as faint as K=14mag in the semi-major axis range 130-520AU, we detect only one, corresponding to a brown dwarf companion fraction of 0.5% (M>30M_Jupiter_). However, the number of brown dwarfs is consistent with an extrapolation of the (stellar) companion mass distribution into the brown dwarf regime. This indicates that the physical mechanism for the formation of brown dwarf companions around intermediate mass stars is similar to that of stellar companions, and that the embryo ejection mechanism does not need to be invoked in order to explain the small number of brown dwarf companions among intermediate mass stars in Sco OB2.

- We present results of a spectroscopic survey for new K- and M-type members of Scorpius-Centaurus (Sco-Cen), the nearest OB Association (~100-200pc). Using an X-ray, proper motion and color-magnitude selected sample, we obtained spectra for 361 stars, for which we report spectral classifications and Li and Ha equivalent widths. We identified 156 new members of Sco-Cen, and recovered 51 previously published members. We have combined these with previously known members to form a sample of 493 solar-mass (~0.7-1.3M_[sun}_) members of Sco-Cen.We investigated the star-formation history of this sample, and re-assessed the ages of the massive main-sequence turn-off and the G-type members in all three subgroups. We performed a census for circumstellar disks in our sample using WISE infrared data and find a protoplanetary disk fraction for K-type stars of 4.4^+1.6^_-0.9_% for Upper Centaurus-Lupus and Lower Centaurus-Crux at ~16Myr and 9.0^+0.4^_-2.2_% for Upper Scorpius at~10Myr.

- We present sensitive 850{mu}m imaging of the Cosmological Evolution Survey (COSMOS) field using 640hr of new and archival observations taken with SCUBA-2 at the East Asian Observatory's James Clerk Maxwell Telescope. The SCUBA-2 COSMOS survey (S2COSMOS) achieves a median noise level of {sigma}_850{mu}m_=1.2mJy/beam over an area of 1.6deg^2^ (MAIN; Hubble Space Telescope/Advanced Camera for Surveys footprint), and {sigma}_850{mu}m_=1.7mJy/beam over an additional 1deg^2^ of supplementary (supp) coverage. We present a catalog of 1020 and 127 sources detected at a significance level of >4{sigma} and >4.3{sigma} in the main and supp regions, respectively, corresponding to a uniform 2% false-detection rate. We construct the single-dish 850{mu}m number counts at S_850_>2mJy and show that these S2COSMOS counts are in agreement with previous single-dish surveys, demonstrating that degree-scale fields are sufficient to overcome the effects of cosmic variance in the S_850_=2-10mJy population. To investigate the properties of the galaxies identified by S2COSMOS sources we measure the surface density of near-infrared-selected galaxies around their positions and identify an average excess of 2.0+/-0.2 galaxies within a 13" radius (~100kpc at z~2). The bulk of these galaxies represent near-infrared-selected submillimeter galaxies and/or spatially correlated sources and lie at a median photometric redshift of z=2.0+/-0.1. Finally, we perform a stacking analysis at submillimeter and far-infrared wavelengths of stellar-mass-selected galaxies (M_*_=10^10^-10^12^M_{sun}_) from z=0-4, obtaining high-significance detections at 850{mu}m in all subsets (signal-to-noise ratio, S/N=4-30), and investigate the relation between far-infrared luminosity, stellar mass, and the peak wavelength of the dust spectral energy distribution. The publication of this survey adds a new deep, uniform submillimeter layer to the wavelength coverage of this well-studied COSMOS field.
