- We present ^12^CO(J=1-0) line observations of 99 galaxies obtained with the SEST 15m, the Kitt Peak 12m and the IRAM 30m telescopes. The target galaxies were selected from the catalogue of isolated galaxies of Karachentseva (1973, Cat. <VII/82>). These data are thus representative of the CO properties of isolated late-type galaxies. All objects were observed in their central position, those with large angular sizes were mapped. These new measurements are used to estimate the molecular gas mass of the target galaxies. The molecular gas is on average ~18% of the atomic gas mass.

- We have searched for CO lines in a sample of 21 new morphologically determined polar ring galaxies (of which 9 are kinematically confirmed), obtained from a wide search in the Galaxy Zoo project by Moiseev and collaborators. Polar ring galaxies (PRG) are a unique class of objects, tracing special episodes in the galaxy mass assembly: they could be formed through galaxy interaction, merging, but also through accretion from cosmic filaments. Beside, they enable the study of dark matter haloes in 3 dimensions. The polar ring itself is a sub-system rich in gas, where molecular gas is expected, and new stars are formed. Among the sample of 21 PRG, we have detected five CO-rich systems, that can now be followed up with higher spatial resolution. Their average molecular mass is 9.4x10^9^M_{sun}_, and their average gas fraction is 27% of their baryonic mass, with a range from 15 to 43%, implying that they just accreted a large amount of gas. The position of the detected objects in the velocity- magnitude diagram is offset from the Tully-Fisher relation of normal spirals, as was already found for PRG. This work is part of our multi-wavelength project to determine the detailed morphology and dynamics of Polar-Ring galaxies, test through numerical models their formation scenario, and deduce their dark matter content and 3D-shape.

- Over the past few years, several occasions of large, continuous rotations of the electric vector position angle (EVPA) of linearly polarized optical emission from blazars have been reported. These events are often coincident with high energy gamma-ray flares and they have attracted considerable attention, as they could allow one to probe the magnetic field structure in the gamma-ray emitting region of the jet. The flat-spectrum radio quasar 3C 279 is one of the most prominent examples showing this behaviour. Our goal is to study the observed EVPA rotations and to distinguish between a stochastic and a deterministic origin of the polarization variability. We have combined multiple data sets of R-band photometry and optical polarimetry measurements of 3C 279, yielding exceptionally well-sampled flux density and polarization curves that cover a period of 2008-2012. Several large EVPA rotations are identified in the data. We introduce a quantitative measure for the EVPA curve smoothness, which is then used to test a set of simple random walk polarization variability models against the data. 3C 279 shows different polarization variation characteristics during an optical low-flux state and a flaring state. The polarization variation during the flaring state, especially the smooth approx. 360 deg. rotation of the EVPA in mid-2011, is not consistent with the tested stochastic processes. We conclude that during the two different optical flux states, two different processes govern the polarization variation, possibly a stochastic process during the low-brightness state and a deterministic process during the flaring activity.

- The neutral hydrogen properties of 1822 galaxies are being studied with the Green Bank 100-m and the Parkes 64-m telescopes as part of the 'Cosmic Flows' programme. Observed parameters include systemic velocities, profile linewidths and integrated fluxes. The linewidth information can be combined with the optical and infrared photometry to obtain distances. The 1822 HI observations complement an inventory of archives.

- We select a sample of radio galaxies at high redshifts (z>1) in the COSMOS field by cross-matching optical and infrared (IR) images with the FIRST radio data. The aim of this study is to explore the high-z radio-loud (RL) active galactic nuclei (AGN) population at much lower luminosities than the classical samples of distant radio sources, which are similar to those of the local population of radio galaxies. Precisely, we extended a previous analysis focused on low-luminosity radio galaxies. The wide multiwavelength coverage provided by the COSMOS survey allows us to derive their spectral energy distributions (SEDs). We model them with our own developed technique 2SPD that includes old and young stellar populations and dust emission. When added to those previously selected, we obtain a sample of 74 RL AGN. The SED modeling returns several important quantities associated with the AGN and host properties. The resulting photometric redshifts range from z~0.7 to 3. The sample mostly includes compact radio sources but also 21 FR IIs sources; the radio power distribution of the sample covers ~10^31.5^-10^34.3^erg/s/Hz, thus straddling the local FR I/FR II break. The inferred range of stellar mass of the hosts is ~10^10^-10^11.5^M_{sun}_. The SEDs are dominated by the contribution from an old stellar population with an age of ~1-3Gyr for most of the sources. However, UV and mid-IR (MIR) excesses are observed for half of the sample. The dust luminosities inferred from the MIR excesses are in the range, L_dust_~10^43^-10^45.5^erg/s, which are associated with temperatures approximately of 350-1200K. Estimates of the UV component yield values of ~10^41.5^-10^45.5^erg/s at 2000{AA}. The UV emission is significantly correlated with both IR and radio luminosities; the former being the stronger link. However, the origin of UV and dust emission, whether it is produced by the AGN of by star formation, is still unclear. Our results show that this RLAGN population at high redshifts displays a wide variety of properties. Low-power radio galaxies, which are associated with UV- and IR-faint hosts are generally similar to red massive galaxies of the local FR Is. At the opposite side of the radio luminosity distribution, large MIR and UV excesses are observed in objects consistent with quasar-like AGN, as also proved by their high dust temperatures, which are more similar to local FR IIs.

- A large survey of galaxies in the J=1-0 CO line, performed during 1985-1988 using the 15-m SEST and the 20-m millimetre wave telescope of Onsala Space Observatory, is presented. The HPBW of the telescopes are 44" and 33" at 115GHz, respectively. The central positions of 168 galaxies were observed and 101 of these were detected in the CO line. More than 20% of these are new detections. Maps of some of the galaxies are also presented.

- We present observations of the ^12^CO(J=1-0) line at 2.6mm of 65 galaxies located in the Coma supercluster region: 33 actually belong to the Coma supercluster while 32 are either foreground or background objects. These data have been obtained using the NRAO 12m telescope at Kitt Peak (United States), and for four galaxies, using the IRAM 30m telescope at Pico Veleta (Spain). Out of these 65 galaxies, 54 had never been observed in the CO(1-0) line; 49 have been detected by us, of which 37 are new detections. We give molecular gas masses deduced from the CO line integrated intensities, and upper limits for the 16 undetected objects, computed with a Galactic conversion factor N(H_2_)=2.3x10^20^I(CO) and H_0_=75km/s/Mpc.

- We present the results of multi-epoch, multifrequency monitoring of blazar 4C +29.45, which was regularly monitored as part of the Interferometric Monitoring of GAmma-ray Bright Active Galactic Nuclei (iMOGABA) program - a key science program of the Korean Very long baseline interferometry Network (KVN). Observations were conducted simultaneously at 22, 43, 86, and 129GHz over the 4 years from 5 December 2012 to 28 December 2016. We also used additional data from the 15GHz Owens Valley Radio Observatory (OVRO) monitoring program. From the 15GHz light curve, we estimated the variability timescales of the source during several radio flux enhancements. We found that the source experienced six radio flux enhancements with variability timescales of 9-187days during the observing period, yielding corresponding variability Doppler factors of 9-27. From the simultaneous multifrequency KVN observations, we were able to obtain accurate radio spectra of the source and hence to more precisely measure the turnover frequencies {nu}_r_, of synchrotron self-absorption (SSA) emission with a mean value of {nu}_r_=28.9GHz. Using jet geometry assumptions, we estimated the size of the emitting region at the turnover frequency. We found that the equipartition magnetic field strength is up to two orders of magnitude higher than the SSA magnetic field strength (0.001-0.1G). This is consistent with the source being particle dominated. We performed a careful analysis of the systematic errors related to the making of these estimations. From the results, we concluded that the equipartition region is located upstream from the SSA region.
