- We present new radial velocities for 203 galaxies in 105 pairs and 2 triplets. The majority are close pairs of early-type galaxies; there are also pairs including a giant spiral galaxy (generally M51 type), and a few are wide pairs of early-type galaxies. Most velocities were measured from the absorption lines in the region of Mgb; emission-line velocities are also given for 22 galaxies. The velocity of one component only was measured in 13 (generally hierarchical) pairs. Velocity dispersions were measured for a subsample of 18 close pairs of early-type galaxies.

- We present the largest catalog of detailed stellar kinematics of the central parts of nearby galaxies, which includes higher moments of the line-of-sight velocity distribution (LOSVD) function represented by the Gauss-Hermite series. The kinematics is measured on a sample of galaxies selected from the Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA (Alfalfa) survey using spectroscopy from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS DR7). The SDSS DR7 offers measurements of the LOSVD based on the assumption of a pure Gaussian shape of the broadening function caused by the combination of rotational and random motion of the stars in galaxies. We discuss the consequences of this oversimplification since the velocity dispersion, one of the measured quantities, often serves as the proxy to important modeling parameters such as the black-hole mass and the virial mass of galaxies. The publicly available pPXF code is used to calculate the full kinematical profile for the sample galaxies including higher moments of their LOSVD. Both observed and synthetic stellar libraries were used and the related template mismatch problem is discussed. For the whole sample of 2180 nearby galaxies reflecting morphological distribution characteristic for the local Universe, we successfully recovered stellar kinematics of their central parts, including higher order moments of the LOSVD function, for signal-to-noise above 50.

- We present a kinematic analysis of 152 low surface gravity M7-L8 dwarfs by adding 18 new parallaxes (including 10 for comparative field objects), 38 new radial velocities, and 19 new proper motions. We also add low- or moderate-resolution near-infrared spectra for 43 sources confirming their low surface gravity features. Among the full sample, we find 39 objects to be high-likelihood or new bona fide members of nearby moving groups, 92 objects to be ambiguous members and 21 objects that are non-members. Using this age-calibrated sample, we investigate trends in gravity classification, photometric color, absolute magnitude, color-magnitude, luminosity, and effective temperature.

- We present a detailed study of the nuclear star clusters (NSCs) and massive black holes (BHs) of four of the nearest low-mass early-type galaxies: M32, NGC 205, NGC 5102, and NGC 5206. We measure the dynamical masses of both the BHs and NSCs in these galaxies using Gemini/NIFS or VLT/SINFONI stellar kinematics, Hubble Space Telescope (HST) imaging, and Jeans anisotropic models. We detect massive BHs in M32, NGC 5102, and NGC 5206, while in NGC 205, we find only an upper limit. These BH mass estimates are consistent with previous measurements in M32 and NGC 205, while those in NGC 5102 and NGC 5206 are estimated for the first time and both found to be <10^6^M_{sun}_. This adds to just a handful of galaxies with dynamically measured sub-million M_{sun}_ central BHs. Combining these BH detections with our recent work on NGC 404's BH, we find that 80% (4/5) of nearby, low-mass (10^9^-10^10^M_{sun}_; {sigma}_*_~20-70km/s) early-type galaxies host BHs. Such a high occupation fraction suggests that the BH seeds formed in the early epoch of cosmic assembly likely resulted in abundant seeds, favoring a low-mass seed mechanism of the remnants, most likely from the first generation of massive stars. We find dynamical masses of the NSCs ranging from 2 to 73x10^6^M_{sun}_ and compare these masses to scaling relations for NSCs based primarily on photometric mass estimates. Color gradients suggest that younger stellar populations lie at the centers of the NSCs in three of the four galaxies (NGC 205, NGC 5102, and NGC 5206), while the morphology of two are complex and best fit with multiple morphological components (NGC 5102 and NGC 5206). The NSC kinematics show they are rotating, especially in M32 and NGC 5102 (V/{sigma}_*_~0.7).

- In the last three decades several hundred nearby members of young stellar moving groups (MGs) have been identified, but there has been less systematic effort to quantify or characterize young stars that do not belong to previously identified MGs. Using a kinematically unbiased sample of 225 lithium-rich stars within 100 pc, we find that only 50+/-10 per cent of young (<=125Myr), low-mass (0.5<M/M_{sun}_<1.0) stars, are kinematically associated with known MGs. Whilst we find some evidence that five of the non-MG stars may be connected with the Lower Centaurus-Crux association, the rest form a kinematically 'hotter' population, much more broadly dispersed in velocity, and with no obvious concentrations in space. The mass distributions of the MG members and non-MG stars are similar, but the non-MG stars may be older on average. We briefly discuss several explanations for the origin of the non-MG population.

- This paper presents 828 new 21-cm neutral hydrogen line measurements carried out with the FORT receiver of the meridian transit Nancay radio telescope (NRT) in the years 2000-2007. This observational program was part of a larger project aiming at collecting an exhaustive and magnitude-complete HI extragalactic catalog for Tully-Fisher applications. Through five massive data releases, the KLUN series has collected an homogeneous sample of 4876 HI-spectra of spiral galaxies, complete down to a flux of 5Jy.km/s and with declination {delta}>-40^{deg}. We publish here the last release of the KLUN HI observational program, corresponding to the faint end of the survey, with HI masses ranging from 5x10^8^ to 5x10^10^ solar masses. The size of this final sample is comparable to the catalogs based on the Arecibo and Parkes radio telescope campaigns, and it allows general HI-mass distribution studies from a set of homogeneous radio measurements.

- We conducted a large spectroscopic survey of 336 red giants in the direction of the Leo II dwarf galaxy using Hectochelle on the Multiple Mirror Telescope, and we conclude that 175 of them are members based on their radial velocities and surface gravities. Of this set, 40 stars have never before been observed spectroscopically. The systemic velocity of the dwarf is 78.3+/-0.6km/s with a velocity dispersion of 7.4+/-0.4km/s. We identify one star beyond the tidal radius of Leo II but find no signatures of uniform rotation, kinematic asymmetries, or streams. The stars show a strong metallicity gradient of -1.53+/-0.10dex/kpc and have a mean metallicity of -1.70+/-0.02dex.

KISS is a wide-field objective-prism survey for extragalactic emission-line objects that has cataloged over 2200 ELG candidates to date. Spectroscopic follow-up observations are being carried out to study the characteristics of the survey objects. The observational data presented here include redshifts, reddening estimates, line equivalent widths, H{alpha} line fluxes, and emission-line ratios. The galaxies have been classified based on their emission-line characteristics.

- The analyses of high resolution infrared spectra have been done for CN lines in oxygen-rich cool evolved stars including 2 K giants, 20 M giants and 1 S-type star. Since CN lines analyzed in the present work are weak and resolved well, they are appropriate for quantitative analyses. CN lines of {DELTA}v=-2 and -1 sequences (red system) which are in the K- and the H-window regions, respectively, give the consistent nitrogen abundance for each star. The analyses of NH lines in the L-window region have been done for 5 late M giants for which CN lines have been also analyzed. Although the triplet structure of NH lines cannot be fully resolved, they are preferable because determination of nitrogen abundance is almost independent of other elemental abundances while nitrogen abundance based on CN depends on carbon abundance. The nitrogen abundances derived from NH for late M giants agree well with those from CN for which we adopt 7.75eV as the dissociation energy in the analysis. The results show that the nitrogen abundances in late M giants are larger than those in early M giants while decrease of the carbon abundance was found in late M giants by our previous work (Tsuji, 1991A&A...245..203T). These variations of abundances can not be explained by the first dredge-up model but require additional processing by the CN cycle and mixing after the first dredge-up. However, there is no obvious evidence of other processes such as the 3{alpha}-process and subsequent hot bottom burning in our program stars. Such variation of the carbon and nitrogen abundances is not well understood by the present evolutionary models of low-mass and intermediate-mass stars.
