- The Arcminute Microkelvin Imager Galactic Plane Survey (AMIGPS) provides mJy-sensitivity, arcminute-resolution interferometric images of the northern Galactic plane at ~16GHz. The first data release covered 76{deg}<=l<=170{deg} between latitudes of |b|<=5{deg}; here we present a second data release, extending the coverage to 53{deg}<=l<=193{deg} and including high-latitude extensions to cover the Taurus and California giant molecular cloud regions, and the recently discovered large supernova remnant G159.6+7.3. The total coverage is now 1777{deg}^2^ and the catalogue contains 6509 sources. We also describe the improvements to the data processing pipeline which improves the positional and flux density accuracies of the survey.

- This paper is part of a series involving the AMIGA project (Analysis of the Interstellar Medium of Isolated GAlaxies). This project provides a statistically-significant sample of the most isolated galaxies in the northern sky. We present a study of the nuclear activity in a well-defined sample of the most isolated galaxies (total sample: n=1050, complete subsample: n=719) in the local Universe traced by their far-infrared (FIR) and radio continuum emission. We use the well-known radio continuum-FIR correlation to select radio-excess galaxies that are candidates to host an active galactic nucleus (AGN), as well as the FIR colours to find obscured AGN-candidates. We also used the existing information on nuclear activity in the Veron-Cetty catalogue and in the NASA Extragalactic Database. A final catalogue of AGN-candidate galaxies has been produced that will provide a baseline for studies on the dependence of activity on the environment. Our sample is mostly radio quiet, consistent with its high content of late-type galaxies. At most ~1.5% of the galaxies show a radio excess with respect to the radio-FIR correlation, and this fraction even goes down to less than 0.8% after rejection of back/foreground sources using FIRST. We find that the fraction of FIR colour selected AGN-candidates is ~28% with a lower limit of ~7%. Our final catalogue contains 89 AGN candidates and is publicly available on the AMIGA web page (http://www.iaa.csic.es/AMIGA.html).

- This paper is part of a series that describes the results of the AMIGA (Analysis of the interstellar Medium of Isolated GAlaxies) project, studying the largest sample of very isolated galaxies in the local Universe. The study of the radio properties of the AMIGA sample is intended to characterize the radio continuum emission for a sample least affected by the local environment, thus providing a reference against which less isolated and interacting samples can be compared. Radio continuum data at 325, 1420, and 4850MHz were extracted from the WENSS, NVSS/FIRST, and GB6 surveys, respectively. The source extractions have been obtained from reprocessing the data and new detections added to the cross- matched detections with the respective survey catalogs. We focus on the complete AMIGA subsample composed of 719 galaxies. A catalog of radio fluxes was obtained from the above four surveys. Comparison between the NVSS and FIRST detections indicates that the radio continuum is coming from disk-dominated emission in spiral galaxies, in contrast to the results found in high-density environments where nuclear activity is more frequent. The comparison of the radio continuum power with a comparable sample, which is however not selected with respect to its environment, the Condon et al. UGC-SF sample of star-forming field galaxies, shows a lower mean value for the AMIGA sample. We have obtained radio-to-optical flux ratios (R) using the NVSS radio continuum flux. The distribution of R for the AMIGA galaxies is consistent with a sample dominated by radio emission from star formation (SF) and a small number of active galactic nuclei (AGN), with less than 3% of the sample with R>100. We derived the radio luminosity function (RLF) and total power density of the radio continuum emission for the AMIGA sample at 1.4GHz, and compared them with results from other low-redshift studies. The Schechter fit of the RLF indicates a major weight of the low-luminosity galaxies. The results indicate the very low level of radio continuum emission in our sample of isolated galaxies, which is dominated by mild disk SF. It confirms thus the AMIGA sample as a suitable template to effectively quantify the role of interactions in samples extracted from denser environments.

- We present the results from the first large (>100 sources) 3.5mm polarimetric survey of radio-loud active galactic nuclei (AGNs). This wavelength is favorable within the radio-millimeter range for measuring the intrinsic linearly polarized emission from AGNs, since in general it is only marginally affected by Faraday rotation of the electric vector position angle and depolarization. The I, Q, U, and V Stokes parameter observations were performed with the XPOL polarimeter at the IRAM 30m Telescope on different observing epochs from 2005 July (when most of the measurements were made) to 2009 October. Our sample consists of 145 flat-radio-spectrum AGNs with declination >-30{deg} (J2000.0) and flux density >~1Jy at ~86GHz, as measured at the IRAM 30m Telescope from 1978 to 1994. This constraint on the radio spectrum causes our sample to be dominated by blazars, which allows us to conduct new statistical studies on this class of high-luminosity, relativistically beamed emitters. Over our entire source sample, the luminosity of the jets is anticorrelated with the degree of linear polarization. Consistent with previous findings claiming larger Doppler factors for brighter {gamma}-ray blazars, quasars listed in our sample, and in the Fermi Large Area Telescope Bright Source Catalog (LBAS, Abdo et al., 2009ApJ...700..597A), show larger luminosities than non-LBAS ones, but our data do not allow us to confirm the same for BL Lac objects. Our new data can be used to estimate the 3.5mm AGN contribution to measurements of the linear polarization of the cosmic microwave background, such as those performed by the Planck satellite.

- We complete the census of nuclear X-ray activity in 100 early-type Virgo galaxies observed by the Chandra X-ray Telescope as part of the AMUSE-Virgo survey, down to a (3{sigma}) limiting luminosity of 3.7x10^38^erg/s over 0.5-7keV. The stellar mass distribution of the targeted sample, which is mostly composed of formally "inactive" galaxies, peaks below 10^10^M_{sun}_, a regime where the very existence of nuclear supermassive black holes (SMBHs) is debated. Out of 100 objects, 32 show a nuclear X-ray source, including 6 hybrid nuclei which also host a massive nuclear cluster as visible from archival Hubble Space Telescope images. After carefully accounting for contamination from nuclear low-mass X-ray binaries based on the shape and normalization of their X-ray luminosity function (XLF), we conclude that between 24% and 34% of the galaxies in our sample host an X-ray active SMBH (at the 95% confidence level). This sets a firm lower limit to the black hole (BH) occupation fraction in nearby bulges within a cluster environment.

The NVSS catalog was used as the reference catalog for refining the coordinates of the radio sources. The morphology is found for about 75% of the objects of the sample and the ratio of single, double and multicomponent radio sources is computed based on FIRST radio maps. The 74, 365, 1400, and 4850MHz data of the VLSS, TXS, NVSS, FIRST, and GB6 catalogs are used to analyze the shape of the spectra.

- We present an atlas of 129 spectral energy distributions for nearby galaxies, with wavelength coverage spanning from the ultraviolet to the mid-infrared. Our atlas spans a broad range of galaxy types, including ellipticals, spirals, merging galaxies, blue compact dwarfs, and luminous infrared galaxies. We have combined ground-based optical drift-scan spectrophotometry with infrared spectroscopy from Spitzer and Akari with gaps in spectral coverage being filled using Multi-wavelength Analysis of Galaxy Physical Properties spectral energy distribution models. The spectroscopy and models were normalized, constrained, and verified with matched-aperture photometry measured from Swift, Galaxy Evolution Explorer, Sloan Digital Sky Survey, Two Micron All Sky Survey, Spitzer, and Wide-field Infrared Space Explorer images. The availability of 26 photometric bands allowed us to identify and mitigate systematic errors present in the data. Comparison of our spectral energy distributions with other template libraries and the observed colors of galaxies indicates that we have smaller systematic errors than existing atlases, while spanning a broader range of galaxy types. Relative to the prior literature, our atlas will provide improved K-corrections, photometric redshifts, and star-formation rate calibrations.

- We present results of a ^12^COJ=3-2 survey of 125 nearby galaxies obtained with the 10m Heinrich Hertz Telescope, with the aim to characterize the properties of warm and dense molecular gas in a large variety of environments. With an angular resolution of 22", ^12^CO3-2 emission was detected in 114 targets. Based on 61 galaxies observed with equal beam sizes the ^12^CO3-2/1-0 integrated line intensity ratio R_31_ is found to vary from 0.2 to 1.9, with an average value of 0.81. No correlations are found for R_31_ to Hubble-type and far-infrared luminosity. Possible indications for a correlation with inclination angle and the 60um/100um color temperature of the dust are not significant. Higher R_31_ ratios than in "normal" galaxies, hinting at enhanced molecular excitation, may be found in galaxies hosting active galactic nuclei. Even higher average values are determined for galaxies with bars or starbursts, the latter being identified by the ratio of infrared luminosity versus isophotal area, log [(L_FIR_/L_{sun}_)/(D^2^_25_/kpc^2^)]>7.25. (U)LIRGs are found to have the highest averaged R_31_ value. This may be a consequence of particularly vigorous star formation activity, triggered by galaxy interaction and merger events.

- Results are reported from the first survey of X-ray emission from galaxies in pairs. The sample consists of 52 pairs of galaxies from the Catalog of Paired Galaxies (Cat. <VII/77>) whose coordinates overlap the ROSAT Position Sensitive Proportional Counter pointed observations. The mean observed log(L_x_) for early-type pairs is 41.35+/-0.21, while the mean log(L_x_) predicted using the (L_X_-L_b_) relationship for isolated early-type galaxies is 42.10+/-0.19. With 95% confidence, the galaxies in pairs are underluminous in the X-ray, compared with isolated galaxies, for the same L_b_. A significant fraction of the mixed pair sample also appears similarly underluminous. A spatial analysis shows that the X-ray emission from pairs of both types typically has an extent of 10 - 50 kpc, much smaller than the group intergalactic medium, and thus likely originates from the galaxies. CPG 564, the most X-ray luminous early-type pair, 4.7x10^42^ergs/s, is an exception. The extent of its X-ray emission, greater than 169 kpc, and HWHM, {~}80 kpc, is comparable to that expected from an intergalactic medium. The sample shows only a weak correlation, {~}81% confidence, between L_X_ and L_b_, presumably due to variations in gas content within the galaxies. No correlation between L_X_ and the pair velocity difference ({delta}v), separation ({delta}r), or far-infrared luminosity (L_fir_) is found, although the detection rate is low, 22%.

- We present a catalog of 1439 young stellar objects (YSOs) spanning the 1.42deg^2^ field surveyed by the Chandra Carina Complex Project (CCCP), which includes the major ionizing clusters and the most active sites of ongoing star formation within the Great Nebula in Carina. Candidate YSOs were identified via infrared (IR) excess emission from dusty circumstellar disks and envelopes, using data from the Spitzer Space Telescope (the Vela-Carina survey) and the Two-Micron All Sky Survey. We model the 1-24um IR spectral energy distributions of the YSOs to constrain physical properties. Our Pan-Carina YSO Catalog (PCYC) is dominated by intermediate-mass (2M_{sun}_<m<~10M_{sun}_) objects with disks, including Herbig Ae/Be stars and their less evolved progenitors. The PCYC provides a valuable complementary data set to the CCCP X-ray source catalogs, identifying 1029 YSOs in Carina with no X-ray detection. We also catalog 410 YSOs with X-ray counterparts, including 62 candidate protostars. Extrapolating over the stellar initial mass function scaled to the PCYC population, we predict a total population of >2x10^4^ YSOs and a present-day star formation rate (SFR) of >0.008M_{sun}_/yr. The global SFR in the Carina Nebula, averaged over the past ~5Myr, has been approximately constant.
