- We present a catalog of 1750 massive stars in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), with accurate spectral types compiled from the literature, and a photometric catalog for a subset of 1268 of these stars, with the goal of exploring their infrared properties. The photometric catalog consists of stars with infrared counterparts in the Spitzer SAGE survey database, for which we present uniform photometry from 0.3 to 24um in the UBVIJHKs+IRAC+MIPS24 bands. The resulting infrared color-magnitude diagrams illustrate that the supergiant B[e], red supergiant, and luminous blue variable (LBV) stars are among the brightest infrared point sources in the LMC, due to their intrinsic brightness, and at longer wavelengths, due to dust. We detect infrared excesses due to free-free emission among ~900 OB stars, which correlate with luminosity class. We confirm the presence of dust around 10 supergiant B[e] stars, finding the shape of their spectral energy distributions (SEDs) to be very similar, in contrast to the variety of SED shapes among the spectrally variable LBVs. The similar luminosities of B[e] supergiants (log L/L_{sun}_>=4) and the rare, dusty progenitors of the new class of optical transients (e.g., SN 2008S and NGC 300 OT), plus the fact that dust is present in both types of objects, suggests a common origin for them. We find the infrared colors for Wolf-Rayet stars to be independent of spectral type and their SEDs to be flatter than what models predict.

- It is widely recognized that the irregular satellites of the giant planets were captured from initially heliocentric orbits. However, the mechanism of capture and the source region from which they were captured both remain unknown. We present an optical color survey of 43 irregular satellites of the outer planets conducted using the LRIS camera on the 10 m telescope at the Keck Observatory in Hawaii. The measured colors are compared to other planetary bodies in search for similarities and differences that may reflect upon the origin of the satellites. We find that ultrared matter (with color index B-R>=1.6), while abundant in the Kuiper Belt and Centaur populations, is depleted from the irregular satellites. We also use repeated determinations of the absolute magnitudes to make a statistical estimate of the average shape of the irregular satellites. The data provide no evidence that the satellites and the main-belt asteroids are differently shaped, consistent with collisions as the major agent shaping both.

- The InfraRed Camera (IRC) onboard AKARI has a comprehensive wavelength coverage with 9 photometric bands at 2-24 micron. Based on the NEP-Wide survey of AKARI (which covered a 5.4 sq.deg circular area centered on the NEP), we constructed a catalog for the infrared sources found in the survey area. Here we present the catalog containing about 114,800 sources detected at the nine IRC filter bands. This is a band-merged catalogue including all of the photometry results from the supplementary optical data as well as the IRC bands. To validate a source at a given IRC band, we searched counterparts in the other bands. The band-merging was done based on this cross-matching of the sources among the filter bands. If there is no detection in a certain band, we assigned the 99.000. The NIR sources having no counterpart in any other bands are finally excluded to avoid the false objects. - We present a census of variable stars in six M31 dwarf spheroidal satellites observed with the Hubble Space Telescope. We detect 870 RR Lyrae (RRL) stars in the fields of And I (296), II (251), III (111), XV (117), XVI (8), and XXVIII (87). We also detect a total of 15 Anomalous Cepheids, three eclipsing binaries, and seven field RRL stars compatible with being members of the M31 halo or the Giant Stellar Stream. We derive robust and homogeneous distances to the six galaxies using different methods based on the properties of the RRL stars. Working with the up-to-date set of Period-Wesenheit (I, B-I) relations published by Marconi et al., we obtain distance moduli of {mu}0=[24.49, 24.16, 24.36, 24.42, 23.70, 24.43]mag (respectively), with systematic uncertainties of 0.08mag and statistical uncertainties <0.11mag. We have considered an enlarged sample of 16 M31 satellites with published variability studies, and compared their pulsational observables (e.g., periods and amplitudes) with those of 15 Milky Way satellites for which similar data are available. The properties of the (strictly old) RRL in both satellite systems do not show any significant difference. In particular, we found a strikingly similar correlation between the mean period distribution of the fundamental RRL pulsators (RRab) and the mean metallicities of the galaxies. This indicates that the old RRL progenitors were similar at the early stage in the two environments, suggesting very similar characteristics for the earliest stages of evolution of both satellite systems.

- We present measurements of Galactic interstellar AlIII, SiIV, and CIV absorption recorded in high-resolution archival ultraviolet spectra of 164 hot early-type stars observed by the International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) satellite. The objects studied were drawn from the list of hot stars scheduled to be observed with the Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer (FUSE) satellite as part of observing programs designed to investigate absorption by OVI in the Galactic disk and halo. Multiple IUE echelle-mode integrations have been combined to produce a single ultraviolet (1150-1900{AA}) spectrum of each star with a spectral resolution of ~25km/s (FWHM). Selected absorption-line profiles are presented for each star along with plots of the apparent column density per unit velocity for each line of the AlIII, SiIV, and CIV doublets. We report absorption-line equivalent widths, absorption velocities, and integrated column densities based on the apparent optical depth method of examining interstellar absorption lines. We also determine column densities and Doppler parameters from single-component curve-of-growth analyses. The scientific analysis of these observations will be undertaken after the FUSE satellite produces similar measurements for absorption by interstellar OIV, FeIII, SIII, and other ions.

- We measure Galactic interstellar neutral hydrogen column densities by analyzing archival interstellar Ly{alpha} absorption line data toward 554 B2 and hotter stars observed at high resolution with the IUE satellite. This study more than doubles the number of lines of sight with measures of N(H I) based on Ly{alpha}. We have included the scattered light background correction algorithm of Bianchi and Bohlin (1984A&A...134...31B) in our data reduction. We use the correlation between the Balmer discontinuity [c_1_] index and the stellar Ly{alpha} absorption in order to assess the effects of stellar Ly alpha contamination. Approximately 40% of the B stars with measured [c_1_] index, exhibit serious stellar Ly{alpha} contamination. Table 1 contains the derived values of the interstellar N(H I) for 393 stars with at most small amounts of stellar contamination. Table 2 lists the observed values of total N(H I) for 161 stars with suspected stellar Ly alpha contamination and/or uncertain stellar parameters.

- We report CCD optical (B and V passbands) and near IR (J and K bands) observations in the region of the old open cluster NGC 2141. By combining the two sets of photometry (500 stars in common) we derive new estimates of the cluster's fundamental parameters. We confirm that the cluster is 2.5Gyrs old, but, with respect to previous investigations, we obtain a slightly larger reddening (E(B-V)=0.40), and a slightly shorter distance (3.8kpc) from the Sun. Finally, we present the Luminosity Function (LF) in the V band, which is another age indicator. We provide a good fit for the age range inferred from isochrones by assuming the Kroupa et al. (1993MNRAS.262..545K) IMF up to M_V_=5.0. We interpret the disagreement at fainter magnitudes as evidence of mass segregation.
