- We report the discovery of WISE 2150-7520AB (W2150AB): a widely separated (~341au) very low-mass L1+T8 co-moving system. The system consists of the previously known L1 primary 2MASS J21501592-7520367 and a newly discovered T8 secondary found at position 21:50:18.99-75:20:54.6 (MJD=57947) using Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer data via the Backyard Worlds: Planet 9 citizen science project. We present Spitzer ch1 and ch2 photometry (ch1-ch2=1.41+/-0.04mag) of the secondary and Folded-port InfraRed Echellette prism spectra of both components. The sources show no peculiar spectral or photometric signatures, indicating that each component is likely field age. Using all observed data and the Gaia DR2 parallax of 41.3593+/-0.2799mas for W2150A we deduce fundamental parameters of log(L_bol_/L_{sun}_)=-3.69+/-0.01, Teff=2118+/-62K, and an estimated mass=72+/-12M_Jup_ for the L1 and log(L_bol_/L_{sun}_)=-5.64+/-0.02, Teff=719+/-61K, and an estimated mass=34+/-22M_Jup_ for the T8. At a physical separation of ~341au this system has E_bin_=10^41^erg, making it the lowest binding energy system of any pair with M_tot_<0.1M_{sun}_ not associated with a young cluster. It is equivalent in estimated mass ratio, E_bin_, and physical separation to the ~2Myr M7.25+M8.25 binary brown dwarf 2MASS J11011926-7732383AB (2M1101AB) found in the Chameleon star-forming region. W2150AB is the widest companion system yet observed in the field where the primary is an L dwarf or later.

- Angular momentum (J) loss requires magnetic interaction between the forming star and both the circumstellar disk and the magnetically driven outflows. In order to test these predictions many authors have investigated a rotation-disk connection in pre-main sequence objects with masses larger than about 0.4M_{sun}_. For brown dwarfs (BDs) this connection was not investigated as yet because there are very few samples available. We aim to extend this investigation well down into the substellar regime for our large sample of ~~80 BDs in the Orion Nebula Cluster, for which we have recently measured rotational periods.

- Determination of the mass functions of open clusters of different ages allows us to infer the efficiency with which brown dwarfs are evaporated from clusters to populate the field. In this paper we present the results of a photometric survey to identify low mass and brown dwarf members of the old open cluster Praesepe (age 590^+150^_-120_Myr, distance 190^+6.0^_-5.8_pc) from which we estimate its mass function and compare this with that of other clusters. We performed an optical (Ic-band) and near-infrared (J and Ks-band) photometric survey of Praesepe covering 3.1{deg}^2^. With 5sigma detection limits of Ic=23.4 and J=20.0, our survey is predicted to be sensitive to objects with masses from 0.6 to 0.05M_{sun}.

- Measurements of the physical properties of stars at the lower end of the main sequence are scarce. In this context we report masses, radii and surface gravities of ten very-low-mass stars in eclipsing binary systems, with orbital periods of the order of several days. The objects probe the stellar mass-radius relation in the fully convective regime, M*<0.35M_{sun}_, down to the hydrogen burning mass-limit, M_HB_~0.07M_{sun}_. The stars were detected by the WASP survey for transiting extra-solar planets, as low-mass, eclipsing companions orbiting more massive, F- and G-type host stars. We use eclipse observations of the host stars, performed with the TRAPPIST, Leonhard Euler and SPECULOOS telescopes, and radial velocities of the host stars obtained with the CORALIE spectrograph, to determine the physical properties of the low-mass companions. Surface gravities of the low-mass companions are derived from the eclipse and orbital parameters of each system. Spectroscopic measurements of the host star effective temperature and metallicity are used to infer the host star mass and age from stellar evolution models for solar-type stars. Masses and radii of the low-mass companions are then derived from the eclipse and orbital parameters of the binary systems. The objects are compared to stellar evolution models for low-mass stars, to test for an effect of the stellar metallicity and orbital period on the radius of low-mass stars in close binary systems. Measurements are found to be in good agreement with stellar evolution models; a systematic inflation of the radius of low-mass stars with respect to model predictions is limited to 1.6+/-1.2%, in the fully convective low-mass regime. The sample of ten objects indicates a scaling of the radius of low-mass stars with the host star metallicity. No correlation between stellar radii and the orbital periods of the binary systems is determined. A combined analysis with thirteen comparable objects from the literature is consistent with this result.

- We have obtained adaptive optics images and accurate radial velocities for 7 very low mass objects, In the course of a long term effort to determine accurate masses for very low mass stars (M<0.6 M{sun}). We use the new data, together with measurements from the literature for some stars, to determine new or improved orbits for these 7 systems. They provide masses for 16 very low mass stars with accuracies that range between 0.2% and 5%, and in some cases a very accurate distance as well. This information is used in a companion paper to discuss the Mass-Luminosity relation for the V, J, H and K photometric bands.

- We present the results of a deep near-infrared (NIR) imaging survey searching for very low mass young stellar objects (YSOs) in the embedded cluster associated with the Perseus molecular cloud. Our observations cover an area of ~5'x5' in the NGC 1333-S region at J-, H-, and Ks-bands. The 10{sigma} limiting magnitudes exceed 18mag in all three bands. Based on NIR color-color diagrams, embedded YSO candidates were identified using NIR excesses.

- Strong H{alpha} emitters (HAEs) dominate the z~4 Lyman-break galaxy (LBG) population. We have identified local analogs of these HAEs using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. At z<0.4, only 0.04% of the galaxies are classified as HAEs with H{alpha} equivalent widths (>~500{AA}) comparable to that of z~4 HAEs. Local HAEs have lower stellar mass and lower ultraviolet (UV) luminosity than z~4 HAEs, yet the H{alpha}-to-UV luminosity ratio, as well as their specific star formation rate, is consistent with that of z~4 HAEs, indicating that they are scaled-down versions of high-z star-forming galaxies. Compared to the previously studied local analogs of LBGs selected using rest-frame UV properties, local HAEs show similar UV luminosity surface density, weaker D_n_(4000) break, lower metallicity, and lower stellar mass. This implies that the local HAEs are less evolved galaxies than the traditional Lyman break analogs. In the stacked spectrum, local HAEs show a significant He II{lambda}4686 emission line suggesting a population of hot, massive stars similar to that seen in some Wolf-Rayet galaxies. Low [N II]/[O III] line flux ratios imply that local HAEs are inconsistent with being systems that host bright active galactic nuclei. Instead, it is highly likely that local HAEs are galaxies with an elevated ionization parameter, either due to a high electron density or large escape fraction of hydrogen ionizing photons as in the case of Wolf-Rayet galaxies.

- The most luminous galaxies in the blue passband have a larger correlation amplitude than L* galaxies. They do not appear to be preferentially located in rich clusters or groups, but a significant fraction of them seem to be in systems which include fainter members. We present an analysis of fields centered on 18 Very Luminous Galaxies (M_B_<=-21) selected from the Southern Sky Redshift Survey 2 (Cat. <J/AJ/116/1>, based on new observations and public data of the 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey (Cat. <VII/226>); we present also additional data on a CfA VLG and on Arp 127.
